- Iris comes home and calls to Barry, and he speeds out and sets the dinner table with his newly reacquired Speed Force. They sit down and Iris tells Barry that he's the most romantic husband ever. An earthquake strikes the city, and as they kiss multi-colored lightning strikes the city.
The next day, Arielle Atkins is giving a newscast runs about all of the citizens volunteering to rebuild the city after Eva's attack. Flash arrives at the broadcast site and the newscaster asks about the earthquake morale after the earthquake. He admits that he let the city down but will make it up to the people, and talks about how everyone is rebuilding their homes and their lives. After Flash leaves, Arielle concludes the broadcast.
Team Flash is helping with the rebuilding. Carlos and Chester go to Jitters to get drinks, and Caitlin points out to Allegra that there's still a warrant out for Frost's arrest. Allegra gets a text from Iris to come to the "Citizen", and Allegra reluctantly goes.
At the Citizen, Iris tells Allegra that online viewership is down and they're in a financial hold. Allegra gives her a "Central City Strong" and asks for Allegra's opinion on her article. Allegra finally says that it stinks and points out the flaws in it. She points out that there is no mention of Iris' experience in the Mirrorverse. When Iris says that she's not a reporter and part of the story, Allegra notes that there are lot of people like that and they need Iris to be their voice.
That night at one of the rebuilding site, a man is cleaning up when Abra Kadabra appears. When the man appears, Abra says that he's the greatest magician of all time and the man should be terrified, then hits him with a barrage of cards. Once the man is dead, Abra uses his wand on a nearby shack, reducing it to a small obelisk. Then he vows to do his greatest trick yet: absolute suffering.
The next day, Barry, Cisco, and Chester returns to the site and find the obelisk. Cisco confirms that it weighs 20 tons. Barry figures the city can't take another emergency and says that he's not going to let anything else tear them did again. As Joe arrives, Cisco confirms that the site is inundated with temporal energy from the 64th century. They find the body covered in razor-sharp playing cards, and figure that Abra is involved and the earthquakes are timequakes. Joe points out that Cisco didn't kill anything, but Barry figures that it doesn't matter why Abra has become a killer.
Iris goes to a Mirrorverse survivor group, and listens to one man talking about how things aren't normal and he won't be for a long time. She interviews two of the survivors afterward, Steven and Alice, and Alice notices that Iris is upset. Iris claims that she's fine, and Alice asks her if she was abducted for and is welcome to sit in with the job. Iris asks them to reschedule and leaves.
At STAR Labs, Cisco and Chester are scanning for temporal anomalies and pick up a second one downtown. They figure Abra is heading there.
Abra is downtown and creating another obelisk. Flash and the masked Cisco arrive, and immediately put nano-neutralizing cuffs on Abra. He says that he's seen Cisco's future, puts the handcuffs on Flash, reverses Cisco's blast back on Cisco, and tells Flash that killing him now will spare him from having to face the Chronarch. He prepares to blast Flash with his wand, and Frost arrives and freezes it so that they can capture Abra.
As ARGUS operatives take Abra way, Cisco complains that ARGUS is taking credit. Flash points out that it doesn't matter who gets the credit, and speeds off to do an errand for Iris. Cisco asks the ARGUS director what the plan is for keeping Abra contained, and the director doesn't answer Cisco's question. Frost is there, complains about a headache, and has a metal cube that she took from Abra before ARGUS took him away. She wants Cisco to check her first.
At the lab, Cisco tells Frost that she's fine. Frost has a mental conversation with Caitlin, who insists that she's just having a headache, and an exasperated Cisco goes to check in with Chester who is examining the cube.
That night, an ARGUS agent takes a restrained Abra. The man says that they picked up the third obelisk, and the "imprisoned Abra" disappears and the real one kills the agent. He then goes into the vault where all three obelisks are, and trains a beam from his wand on them.
Iris is working at home, and Barry speeds in and says that he's rented a romantic villa in Monica. Iris points out that they've traveled the world non-stop in the last week, and Barry tells her that he's trying to make it up to her. Iris hasn't written anything, and agrees to go without her laptop. Barry gets a text that Abra has escaped custody and is on the loose in ARGUS.
Flash speeds there and knocks Abra down. Abra traps Flash in a constrictive metal halo, and says that Flash stole his hope and now he's going to take something from Flash. He says that Flash can't defeat a man who has fought everything, and fires a blast at the obelisks. They release beams of energy that create a sphere, and Abra tells Flash that he's going to make the whole city disappear. Abra, the sphere, and the halo all disappear.
Barry goes to the labs and tells the team what happened. Chester confirms that Abra is teleporting all over the city with the sphere, and Cisco confirms that it's an anti-matter bomb. The anti-matter is exactly enough to destroy the city, and even time Abra teleports, the bomb builds up kinetic energies. it'll be fully charged within an hour, and Cisco confirms that the bomb is made of a nth metal alloy that Flash can't phase through.
Abra's pattern is completely randomized, and Barry realizes that Abra wanted to be captured so he could get into ARGUS and get the third obelisk. He blames himself for being tricked again and walks out.
Later, Iris finds Barry in the workshop and asks if he's okay. He says that he's been struggling with everything lately, and blames himself for not realizing the Mirrorverse Ira was a fake. Iris tells him that it's nobody's fault, but Barry doesn't believe it. He figures that he can't make it up to Iris but doesn't know what else to do. Iris assures him that he's got her and isn't going to lose him, and he has to face his trauma. She says that it's not Barry's fault that he was emotionally manipulated by her duplicate. Barry says that he couldn't love her more, and remembers telling Abra that he must have a glimmer of hope. Then he tells Iris that he knows why Abra is doing.
Chester and Cisco have confirmed that the cube is a Martian memory-restorer that restores people's pre- Crisis memories. They figure Cisco stole it to regain some of his own memories. As they consider the impossibility of going through all of the memories, Barry comes in and says that he knows how to stop Abra.
Flash speeds through Central City searching for Abra, and finds him at the Flash museum just as he prepares to activate the nearly-charged sphere. Abra says that Flash will soon understand what it is when everything he loves dies, and Flash tells the villain that they can't defeat Abra and they're not going to try. He says that he knows Abra is hurting and killing innocents won't change anything. Flash figures that Abra is trying to change the past, and activates a hologram ring showing Abra the family he had in the pre-Crisis timeline.
Abra explains that 13 months ago he started having dreams of the other timeline, one where he was happy. He eventually discovered that his memories were expanding because of exposure to energy when speedsters change time. He found Cisco's memory restorer in the 64th century Flash museum and used it on himself, and regained his memories of the original timeline. With memories restored, Abra had proof that his family was once real but erased by what Flash did during Crisis. When Flash didn't vanish instead, Abra's future changed and he lost everything.
The sphere is 97% charged, and Flash tells Abra that destroyed countless lives but some survived and they have to carry on for those who didn't. The hero says that he lost someone as well, and ever since he's tried to honor his sacrifice and says that Abra can do the same for his family. Flash figures Abra tried to go back before Crisis started but couldn't, and that's because that muliversal world doesn't exist. Killing Flash won't restore that timeline.
Abra doesn't believe Flash is telling the truth. Flash figures that Abra wants to destroy Central City so he can make people suffer like him, and Abra knows killing Flash won't work. The hero asks him what the odds are that killing Flash will bring his family back.
The villain admits that he hasn't run a calculation yet where his family returns, and Flash asks him how they would feel if they could see Abra killing millions in their names. Flash tells Abra that making other people hurt won't erase his suffering, He says that the only way for Abra to heal is to face his trauma. Abra looks at the hologram of his family, then shuts down the sphere. says his family's name, and asks who Flash's friend was.
Flash says that his friend was Oliver, and Abra gives his name of Philippe and then asks what he's supposed to do from now on because he can't go on without his family. Flash suggests that Abra let his love find him hope, and Abra wonders why Flash is helping him when they're mortal enemies in the future. The hero says that he hopes they won't be in the future and offers his hand, and Abra says "Fair enough" and starts to take Flash's hand.
Another earthquake shakes the city, and Team Flash confirms that whatever is causing the tremors is heading toward Flash. A giant humanoid behemoth jumps in and slams Flash into a car. Iris tells Flash over the comms to get out, and Abra steps in the behemoth's way and tells Flash that he's got it. Abra threatens the behemoth with the sphere. The behemoth leaps up, grabs the sphere and pulls it down, and squeezes it between its hands.
The sphere explodes and the behemoth shrugs off the blast. It knocks Abra side with one blow, and Flash throws a lightning bolt at the behemoth. It shrugs off the energy, leaps over, grabs Flash, and squeezes. The behemoth throw flash down and leaps away.
Later, Barry recovers thanks to his speed-healing and meets the rest of the team in the lounge. Iris says that Abra died a hero, and they wonder what the behemoth is but have no answers. The other leave on their business, and Barry tells Iris that he's going to find a way to stop the behemoth before it kills again. Iris thanks Allegra for telling her what she needed to hear about her intern, and she's making Allegra a staff writer.
Allegra leaves, and Barry tells Iris that she helped him get through to Abra. He suggests that they go home and have a quiet evening, and Iris agrees but thinks of something she has to do the next day.
The next day, Iris goes to the group meeting and talks about how she was taken to the Mirrorverse and felt the same loneliness and dread that they did. Allegra is there, and Iris admits that she feels angry and sorry for herself, and she understands that she has to let herself feel what she's everyone. Iris says that what happened to them isn't right, and tells everyone that the constant presence of the emotions is exhausting them, they are not alone and she is with them. As Allegra smiles, Iris says that they have to look for the beauty in life in each other, and they have to look for it together. Iris thanks everyone for listening, and they applaud.
Afterward, Allegra tells Iris that her speech was everything that she needed. Iris figures that she's going to have to write her article from a different level, and they leave together.
Caitlin finds Cisco alone, goes in, and shows him that Frost has split off from her.
