Really terrific short documentary about an autistic boy's bar mitzvah prep, the family and religious support he receives, and the actual bar mitzvah. The film effectively uses the building natural tension resulting from anticipation of Daniel's performance to create viewer involvement and commitment. The distance and neutrality maintained by the director makes the film much more than heartwarming (though it is that as well). It is predictable that one would admire, say,the truly dedicated mother ,the family friend and the tudor, but not the the admiration that develops for the boy (or should I say man)himself and the quick thinking Rabbi.
