In a Halloween-themed competition, the four chefs face ingredient baskets packed with nods to horror movies. A surprise in the appetizer basket brings to mind a classic scary scene featuring maggots. The entree ingredients -- liver, fava beans and Chianti -- are inspired by one of the creepiest quotes in movie history, and a bubbling cauldron is a nice touch in the final basket.

Chefs compete to develop a tasty appetizer which must include venison tri-tip, lacy cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and edible bird's nest. The entrée round must include oyster mushrooms, blueberry vodka, bison tenderloin, stinging nettles. Finally, unique ingredients such as beer flour, jalapeño peppers, camel milk, crunchy fruit candy are required in the dessert round.

Four chefs work hard to create a unique milkshake using basket ingredients such as haggis, salt and pepper, sea buckthorn berries, and an oversized milkshake. In the second round, three chefs had to create the ultimate ice cream sandwich using basket ingredients such as the classic ice cream sandwiches, mayonnaise, pomegranates, and cerignola olives. Two chefs have to each create an ice cream sundae using ingredients as a deluxe banana split, black garlic, port wine, and an emu egg.

Four previous Chopped Champions compete for the $50,000 prize. The first round must include a dish that has something whipped up and includes unique basket ingredients such as whipped cream, frozen stuffed shells, Buddha's hand, and hibiscus flowers and syrup. In round two, there must be some kind of icy element to this dish. Three chefs will be using ingredients including a giant frozen margarita, corn nuts, marshmallow snowballs, and beets. The final round must include the element of fire. Mandatory ingredients include lemon verbena, elderberries, pâte à choux dough, and a very unusual 'candelabra'.
