Everything Explained Here

I just watched this episode for the fourth or fifth time. I will watch it several times more.

Each time I do, I catch more nuances than I did before. This evening, I caught so many connectors within the episode (the bit about sarcasm, how Orly's school teacher did a great bit on it, and in the very next scene, Arpi talks about sarcasm), and plot points and character motivations -- subtle, subtle stuff -- that I'd never picked up on before but I'm pretty sure they were always there each time I watched it.

And now, after seeing the episode again tonight, I realize there's only one conclusion to draw -- this is one of the all-time, very best 22 minutes of comedy that television has ever had.

So, why it is rated so low here on its IMDB page? Well the reason is this -- it's just too smart. It's too smart for today's world. It moves fast! It requires focus. It requires attention. It requires several very short rewinds to make sure you caught what was just said. And that's not what people in today's world are about. This ain't no world where folks wanna use their brain stuff. It just ain't. So don't go trying to make me think, today's world says, or I will find some snarky way to insult you.

(But if you don't mind thinking -- stay with this episode until every amazing scrap is given the recognition it deserves. It's worth it.)

I can't wait to see it again.

Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode of the first season has a lot of callbacks. Neil Bremer's predecessor, Former Mayor Victor Delgado who had a mini breakdown shows up in a chat show. He's doing a lot better.

Bremer once again shows a lot of savviness as he tries to get a bus only route. For that he needs to save money by cutting down on the maintenance of palm trees.

However palm trees means LA and the business owners are up in arms. It is Arpi who reminds everyone that palm trees were only planted for the 1932 Olympics. Before that it was another desert town.

Meanwhile Jayden is going to be a father. Only girlfriend Samanthee does not look like the type of girl who would want to start a family with Jayden.

At least there was a sweet reason why Samanthee wanted Jayden to be a father. It was the most humorous part of the episode.
