This was the first episode of Craig's show following his return from Scotland after he buried his mother, Janet Ferguson, who died on December 1, 2008. Just like the show he did after his father died in early 2007, Craig's first guest was a friend who was there to help him deal with his grief and emotional healing. This time, he was able to talk with Chi McBride, who made a wonderful statement that he, Craig, was the reflection of his mother's life. McBride also told Craig that his friends were there for him when he needed them, and if he needed to take the journey (of grief and healing) on his own, they would be there for him when he returned from that "journey." Following McBride's appearance, Seal sang the great song, "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World," with extra emphasis on the line: "But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl." Craig also showed clips from his mother's appearance during the first season of his show in 2005, and video of her tour of Los Angeles with RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. Of course, Craig's monologue was all about his mother's life and love of the arts. Just like the episode in which he eulogized his father, this one should earn Craig Ferguson at least another Emmy nomination. He more than deserves it.
