In the proud tradition of Robot Chicken: Star Wars, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II, and Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, comes the announcement of a new Robot Chicken target homage: the DC superheroes universe. And wait until you see the voice cast – Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern! Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face! Megan Fox as Lois Lane! Yowzers!

This past Monday night, I had the honor of attending an Adult Swim: Robot Chicken roller-skating party to celebrate the release of Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II on DVD (see the Starlog review here).
Ian David accompanied me and shot some awesome video. We got interviews with Robot Chicken creators/producers Seth Green and Matt Senreich…who were both on roller skates at the time. The band Gym Class Heroes was also part of the tour, providing the hundreds of fans with a live concert to accompany the skating. After being asked to personally take a few laps around the rink with Matt Senreich (how could I refuse?), I quickly learned that just because I could roller-skate like the wind when I was 10 years old, does not mean that I still remember how. I have the bruises and scuffs on my knees to prove it. But, we kept skating,...

The creators of Robot Chicken are horror fans that often display their love of the red stuff in their 15-minute epics of plastic and clay. Currently on the road to promote the more Starlog-centric Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II, this past Monday night, I had the honor of attending an Adult Swim: Robot Chicken roller-skating party to celebrate the release of the special on DVD.

Robot Chicken has been satirizing popular culture with tremendous success since its debut on Cartoon Network’s [adult swim] in 2005. The brainchild of executive producers Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the show has skewered all manner of films, television series, and celebrities.
Their most successful outing was the Star Wars Special, first aired in June 2007. The wild success in terms of ratings, critical commentary, and DVD sales meant a sequel was inevitable. The Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II special aired last November and was recently released on DVD by Warner Home Video. It was also nominated for a 2009 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour).
Amazingly, the 22-minute special has been expanded and extended so the disc is filled with 93 minutes of material. You have the original broadcast version, plus the 38 minute extended versions and then 33 minutes of extras. That’s pretty impressive.
The special is also pretty damned funny.

Chicago – Who would have guessed that some of the best “Star Wars”-related material of the ’00s would be produced by Seth Green? And yet, there’s no denying that a lot of what Green delivers with “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II” is smarter than a majority of the product coming out of the Lucas machine. Check out the special, now on DVD, and see for yourself.
DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0 If you’re completely unfamiliar with “Robot Chicken,” perhaps a “Star Wars” special is not the best place to start. “Robot Chicken” airs during the Adult Swim portion of the Cartoon Network line-up and features stop-motion animation inspired by and using action figures of most of our youth. Most episodes run just over ten minutes and feature dozens of “sketches,” some of which may just be brief jokes that last less a few seconds intertwined with longer scenes.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars II reunites viewers with Emperor Palpatine who, tiring of Darth Vader’s incompetence, seeks advice from Alfonso, the hairdresser, during a routine trim. Question: Did you ever wonder how Boba Fett coped once he landed in the pit of the Sarlacc’s stomach during Return of the Jedi? Did you ever dream of what life in the Empire would be like if the galaxy was ruled by father and son? And did you ever question whether or not the airport terminals on a Death Star were any good?
If you answered yes to any of those questions then not only are you (quite obviously) a moron – but you’re also very lucky – because you can find the answers hidden within Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II!
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II is the follow up to the 2007 hit special Robot Chicken: Star Wars and is brought to you by comedy geniuses Seth Green and Matthew Senreich along with co-Head Writers Douglas Goldstein and Tom Root.

What will Olivia Munn do to promote her pal Seth Green's Emmy-winning animated series Robot Chicken? You don't want to know. (But if you do - and remember we warned you - check out his video). Green rounded up famous friends including Sarah Silverman, Christian Slater and Milo Ventimiglia to shamelessly, grossly and hilariously plug his upcoming U.S. tour of roller rink parties for the release of the DVD of Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II, which was released Tuesday, from TV's Adult Swim. And if you can't feel the celebrity love, you can certainly sense the sarcasm.

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as...

The nominees for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced today in Los Angeles, and the show to garner the most nods was 30 Rock, which received a record 22 nominations for a comedy series. With the Emmys expanding their number of nominees from five to six in certain categories, some new shows were finally able to get some recognition, although a few big shows were still overlooked in their final seasons: most notably The Shield and Battlestar Galactica. There are a ton of categories so I only included some of the major nominees below. For the complete list visit the Emmy Awards official website [1]. What do you think of the nominees? Sigourney Weaver was "completely thrilled, astonished and delighted" with her lead actress in a miniseries or movie nomination for her work in Lifetime's "Prayers for Bobby." Weaver said she wasn't expecting a nomination for the telefilm, a true story about a mother who finds out her son is gay after he commits suicide. "Mary Griffith's story as a mother is such a wrenching one of what can happen to any parent if that parent doesn't have access to any other points of view," she said from New Mexico, where she is working on Greg Mottola's comedy "Paul." Weaver said she planned to call Griffith and Henry Czerny (Bobby) to celebrate. "I'm thrilled that this will help us get more exposure; the producers had been working for 13 years trying to get this made," she added.

You might have came across a viral video of Breckin Meyer featuring Zac Efron, which plays like a parody of Perez Hilton's video statement about his run-in with the Black Eyed Peas last week in Toronto.
Since being released Wednesday on FunnyOrDie.com and later on AdultSwim.com, the Meyer clip has nabbed about 370,000 views.
While it was a billed as "Breckin Meyer Responds to Perez Hilton," the video in fact is a stealth promo written by "Robot Chicken" creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, head writer Tom Root and Meyer to tease AdultSwim's unusual campaign in support of the DVD release of the show's extended "Star Wars Episode II" special.
Green and Senreich are strapping on skates to host a nine-city roller-rink tour across America, which will feature performances by hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes and appearances by "Robot Chicken" writers, producers, voice cast members, including Meyer, as well as guest bands.

Kung Fu Panda shut out its competition in every major feature film category at the 36th annual Annie Awards celebrating 2008’s best animated movies. The DreamWorks Animation pic bested critic favorite Wall-e and other nominee Bolt for “Best Feature.”
The surprise win is the first time DreamWorks has beaten a Pixar film for the top prize since 2001’s Shrek over Pixar’s Monster’s Inc. Panda took home fifteen statues Friday night and tied for the most wins ever. The Annie Award has matched the “Best Animated Feature” category at the Academy Awards every single year but one.
I thoroughly enjoyed Kfp, but I was under the impression that Wall-e was a better film all around. While DreamWorks Animation has stepped up its game in recent years, Pixar’s animation was exceptional. This is a major upset, especially since Wall-e went home with nothing. The Oscar race just got even more interesting.

Photo: DreamWorks Animation Wall-e is the certain frontrunner to win the Oscar Best Animated Feature at the 2009 Oscars as it competes with DreamWorks's Kung Fu Panda and Disney's Bolt for the award, but on Friday night at the 36th annual Annie Awards Wall-e's name was nowhere to be found when looking at the winner's circle. Instead Kung Fu Panda took home eleven Annie Awards including Best Animated Feature and all the way down to Best Animated Video Game. Outside of that, it's DVD counterpart Secrets of the Furious Five won four more Annie's for DreamWorks Animation. I would love to tell you there is more to the story, but it was an absolute domination. I don't think this changes anything in terms of the Oscar race as Wall-e remains the likely winner, but it certainly adds a little more flavor to a rather weird award season. The winners are featured...
