It's time to get Cardi B's agent on the phone! After the Invasion of Privacy star publicly pitched a role for herself on Netflix's hit show You, all eyes have been on the streaming network. Now, series star Penn Badgley is weighing in on the potential addition to the cast—and his social media friendship with Cardi. The Grammy winner and the Netflix star recently sent the Twitter-verse into a tailspin with their adorable fan-girl-esque exchange—and the two have since changed their profile pictures on the platform to feature the other. So naturally, fans are wondering if this will eventually lead to the rapper making an appearance for the fourth...

One of the big surprises at last month’s BET Awards was hearing Jazmine Sullivan’s “Heaux Tales” announced as the Album of the Year. The album certainly has the acclaim to merit the title, but the category often goes to higher-profile albums, with past winners including Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” and Roddy Ricch’s “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial.” So it seemed like The Weeknd’s “After Hours” or Megan Thee Stallion’s “Good News” would take home the big prize. Could this upset have implications for the Grammys? I think so.
The BET Awards aren’t necessarily a precursor for the Grammys, but they are one of the few peer-voted award shows left in music. As such, a lot of their winners indicate where the wind is blowing in the industry, particularly in rap and R&b fields. The relatively new Album of the Year category (it was...

Megan Thee Stallion cleaned up at the Grammys, winning Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Savage” featuring Beyonce, as well as Best New Artist. That made this a landmark year for Megan, but also for female rappers in general. Check out the complete list of Grammy winners here.
She’s the first female rapper to win Best New Artist, depending on whether you count Lauryn Hill, who prevailed in 1999; she had won Best Rap Album for “The Score” as a member of The Fugees in 1997, but most of her nominations and wins in 1999 were as an R&b artist. Besides Megan, the only female artists to even be nominated in this category for predominantly rap music were Nicki Minaj (2012) and Iggy Azalea (2015).

Cardi B has dropped the video for her new single “Up.” It’s her first new music since her 2020 megahit “Wap” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, which topped Rolling Stone‘s “Best Songs of 2020” list.
In the Tani Muino visual, which was filmed over two days during Christmas break, Cardi appears atop a sarcophagus in a cemetery in a sexy black outfit, her mourning attire signaling that in this case, she’s celebrating saying goodbye and it’s a kiss-off that’s relatable. Cardi B has scored her first leading role in a movie. The hip-hop icon is set to star in Paramount’s upcoming film “Assisted Living.”
“Assisted Living” is being described as a “raucous comedy” with “tremendous heart,” in the vein of classic funny films like “Tootsie,” “Sister Act” and “Mrs. Doubtfire.” It follows Amber (Cardi B), a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong. On the run from the cops and her former crew, she struggles to find anywhere to hide. Running out of options, Amber disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides out in the one place no one will look — her estranged grandmother’s nursing home.
Paramount won rights to “Assisted Living” in a competitive bidding war in spring of 2019. The film is based on an original spec script by Kay Oyegun, a writer for “This Is Us.” Temple Hill and Stephen Love are producing.

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "Wap" was one of the biggest hits of 2020, so fans were up in arms when it wasn't nominated for a Grammy earlier this month. Since it was released during the eligibility period, many fans took it as yet another big snub - however, that isn't exactly the case. It turns out, Cardi B actually didn't submit the song for Grammy consideration.
In a recent Instagram Live, the rapper explained why she didn't submit the song for a Grammy, saying, "Like I said, I never pressed for a Grammy, but y'all not gonna take away something that I know I worked my ass off [for], that I deserve." She also noted that she didn't want to submit herself for award shows until her full album was out, because the "album is so good." "I worked on it a lot," she added. "I've been working on it for almost two years.

From the top, make it drop 'cause Ciara is winning Halloween once again! We didn't think anything could top her couples costume with husband Russell Wilson from last year, when they dressed as Beyoncé and Jay-Z in the Louvre Museum. However, Ciara went all out this year as another iconic singer. The mom of three recreated Cardi B's lavish Invasion of Privacy album cover for her Halloween look. And it has Cardi's seal of approval. Ciara shared the final costume on Instagram on Friday, Oct. 30, complete with the exact same black-and-white checkered retro outfit from Christian Cowan's fall 2018 collection. She...

Megan Thee Stallion had her first top-20 hit with “Hot Girl Summer” in 2019, but it was 2020 when she fully broke out in the public eye. Now the “Savage” star could make history at the Grammys: if she wins Best New Artist, she’ll be the first female rapper ever to do so.
Rappers of all genders have had trouble getting noticed in top categories given the recording academy’s long-held bias for adult contemporary artists over hip-hop. To date only three hip-hop acts have ever won Best New Artist: Arrested Development (1993), Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (2014) and Chance the Rapper (2017). Lauryn Hill also won in 1999; she incorporated rap and hip-hop into her music, but her breakthrough album that year was classified as R&b.

Exactly two years ago Cardi B dropped something nearly as major as her debut studio album. Sure 2018's Invasion of Privacy went multi-multi platinum, earning the artist her first Grammy and a place on both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork's albums of the decade lists. But two months later, she stunned the Internet by confirming that, yes, her fiancé and future baby daddy Offset was actually her husband—and had been for some nine months. "There are so many moments that I share with the world and there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!" she tweeted on that June 25 afternoon. "Our relationship was so new...

When Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton first got together in 2009, did you say to yourself, "Wait, what?" or "I didn't see that one coming." If you did, you're not alone. The two, who are probably married, seemed to be running in slightly different Hollywood circles at the time. Jeffrey was known for his role on Grey's Anatomy and recently ended his engagement to Weeds star Mary Louise Parker, while Hilarie was still starring in One Tree Hill and recently divorced Ian Prange, an assistant director on the show. But their two worlds did have one common denominator: the CW. Jeffrey had previously starred in Supernatural alongside Jensen Ackles, whose then-girlfriend (now wife), Danneel Harris, was starring alongside Hilarie in Oth. So after both stars found themselves single, Jensen took it upon himself to make some moves. Just hangin with Pops. #VegasCon pic.twitter.com/Jt1Eomggzu - Jensen Ackles...

While Finnish director Antti J. Jokinen has spent years working with high profile musicians like Beyoncé, Missy Elliot, Shania Twain, Korn and many others, he's also been working steadily under the radar as a feature film director. After his only English language film, 2011's The Resident starring Hilary Swank and Jeffery Dean Morgan, failed to launch, Jokinen went back to Europe where he made a number of highly regarded films including The Midwife and Purge (Finland's official Oscar selection in 2012). His latest is Flowers of Evil, a simmering and angry street film inspired by the 2012 Stockholm riots. The story follows two brothers who each take very different paths to deal with the challenges of living in a housing estate in Helsinki. Based on the...

Things have been pretty quiet lately for two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank. That a little studio located in the English countryside consistently put out high quality films on a very limited budget is one of the great stories in filmmaking history. Hammer Films was the most successful independent film company ever, producing comedy, drama, mysteries, and war movies before finding their niche in horror. Hammer became a name synonymous with horror, a name that still means something today.
They took their horror stories from English literature set in Europe in the 19th century and their carefully designed and constructed sets created an atmosphere that made the time and place as much a part of the film as the story. After securing remake rights from Universal for their catalog of classics from the 1930s and 1940s, Hammer became the leading producer of horror films. Hammer’s philosophy was straightforward: always be entertaining, have plenty of sex appeal, and lots of violence and blood.

It has been dismissed over the years as cheesy, cheap and laughable but, as has been the case on many occasions, Hammer Films have had the last laugh. They boast a back-catalogue that is to horror movies what The Rolling Stones’ discography is to rock music. Fifty-nine years after the release of their first horror movie proper (The Quatermass Xperiment), Hammer’s films have survived scrutiny and re-evaluation and have now attained National Treasure status. Moreover, in terms of sheer importance, the Hammer films were some of the most influential of the past half-century. The ripple-effect of their imitators cashing in on their success would beget the careers of some of the biggest names in Hollywood today.
And yet since 1984 Hammer has been a dormant entity, existing only in the memory: a pile of ashes, a cape and a signet ring waiting to be reanimated by the crimson, jugular discharge of some poor,...

Whenever one thinks of British horror films, one’s mind usually flits to Hammer Horror films. Hammer is practically synonymous with the British horror movie – the classic Gothic tales of Vampires, Frankenstein and Mummies. The studio was most prolific between the 1950s and the 1970s, and thanks to distribution deals with big companies like Warner Bros, their films were watched by a very large worldwide audience.
Hammer horror tends to be very tasteful. It does tackle things like madness, incest, child murder – but it does it in a classy, inoffensive way. The films are loaded with a morbid atmosphere and they are beautifully filmed – making great use of colour. The company produced classic horror film after horror film – usually starring Christopher Lee and/or Peter Cushing – two excellent horror stalwarts.

While Jeffrey Dean Morgan.s television career, including roles on Grey.s Anatomy, Supernatural and Magic City, has been an all-around success, his cinematic career has been uneven at best, balancing mediocre big-budget films like Watchmen and Red Dawn with mediocre low-budget thrillers like The Possession and The Resident. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morgan is next set to star in the supernatural thriller Solace from director Alfonso Poyart (Two Rabbits). When you've won two Oscars and your best options are starring in "The Resident" and "New Year's Eve," you start to produce movies yourself. Thus Hilary Swank and 2S Films' partner Molly Smith are producing their second feature, "You're Not You," directed by George C. "The business is ever elusive, always exciting, always frustrating," Swank told Toh last year. "I want to make movies that people talk about." Emmy Rossum is in talks to co-star in Swank's long-in-development "You're Not You," which traces the relationship between a former ad exec suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease (Swank) and her caretaker, a directionless college student (Rossum) who is engaged in an affair with a married professor. When it comes to Ole Bornedal's upcoming supernatural chiller Possession, I've really been on the fence. A few cool images have surfaced, but quite a few boring pics have accompanied them. What you're about to see below however certainly isn't dull, and piques my curiosity far more than anything I've seen thus far. The screenplay was written by Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Resident, Texas Killing Fields), Kyra Sedgwick (Man on a Ledge, Gamer), Madison Davenport (Parasomnia, Shameless) and Agam Darshi (Watchmen, 2012) star.

Hammer.s hit film The Woman in Black has broken records again after becoming the UK.s highest grossing British horror film since records began 20 years ago*. The film has scored a hat-trick at the top of the UK box office for distributor Momentum Pictures. Holding the number one slot in the UK for the last 3 weeks, it has taken a total of £14,598,813 from 457 screens (per screen average of £5,351).

Last year, some of Hollywood's biggest stars appeared in a series of horror/thrillers from Image Entertainment, but for whatever reason, the movies never really got much attention. You might have heard of Dennis Quaid and Aimee Teegarden's murder opus "Beneath the Darkness," but what about Hilary Swank in "The Resident?" Or Richard Gere and Topher Grace in "The Double?" No?
Well, don't worry, because these films might have flown under the radar when they were in theaters, but we're going to make sure they get their due on Blu-ray — and we want to start by giving you copies of them for free right now.
Here's a quick rundown on the films in question. "Beneath the Darkness" (which arrives on Blu-ray and DVD in stores on Feb. 28) stars Quaid as an upstanding citizen who has a dark secret: He's actually a murdering a-hole. This is definitely not the cuddly Quaid you're used to.

The Cinema And Television History (Cath) Research Centre at Leicester De Montfort University is delighted and honored to be the custodian of Hammer’s archive of scripts.
Internationally, Hammer is the most famous of Britain’s film studios, and in the UK it has an impressive heritage. Most recently with The Woman In Black which has since its release taken over £10m in the UK and over $60m worldwide- Hammer is bringing its brand of horror films to a whole new generation.
The Cath Research Centre is proud to be associated with the revival of this classic British brand, and to be entrusted with elements of its historic archive at a time when the company is restoring its classic films for Blu-ray and DVD release. Our agreement with Hammer will involve the cataloguing and curation of the materials, but the intention is also to make them available to scholars in digital form.

Anyone who saw last weekend's surprise hit "The Woman in Black" knows that it was a step in the right direction for Hammer Films studio. After a string of woefully underseen, contemporary set horror films (among them the wonderful vampire tale "Let Me In" and the pervy Hilary Swank thriller "The Resident"), Hammer got back to what it does best: a Victoria-era setting, and an emphasis on period costumes, eerie effects, spooky ghosts, hostile villagers, and dimly lit hallways. And in an interview with Hey U Guys, Hammer CEO Simon Oakes, who was heavily involved with "The Woman in Black," says they plan to dip into the studio's catalog for future projects, including rebooting the Dracula franchise that made Hammer something of a household name. At least if your household was really into fangs. Hammer was a studio whose bread and butter was a string of garish Dracula and Frankenstein...

Once a go-to institution for screams in the horror world, Hammer Films had a fine output of chillers from the late ‘50s to the mid ‘70s, which included the classic string of monster films in which actor Christopher Lee re-imagined iconic characters like Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Mummy. Then in the late '70s and ‘80s, right as Americans were starting to favor gory slashers like “Friday the 13th” and brutal horror films like “Last House on the Left” and the original “I Spit On Your Grave” to name a few, the fog strewn atmospherics of Hammer Films didn’t seem quite so scary any more. As of late the company has seen a resurgence of sorts, proudly putting out Matt Reeves’ excellent “Let Me In” and the predictable but atmospheric and entertaining “The Woman in Black” this past weekend, along with a few forgettable titles like “Wake Wood” and “The Resident.

Oakes was heavily involved with the film’s production, with one eye in the enduring legacy of one of the most famous studios in the world and the other on the new direction he is taking.

It looks like Hammer Horror really is back. The Woman In Black, the new ghost story from the rebooted Hammer studios, made over 21 million dollars in the U.S. this past weekend. This is exciting news to the many fans of the British studio, which produced so many wonderful horror films in the .50.s, .60s, and .70s. The Woman In Black is not the first film from the new Hammer, but it is the first of their films to adopt the period gothic formula of old, and its success bodes well for the studio. Hammer is the specialty genre label of its parent company, Exclusive Media. Simon Oakes is Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media Group and President & CEO of Hammer. He led the acquisition and recapitalization of Hammer in 2007. Nigel Sinclair is Co-Chairman and CEO of Exclusive Media, one of the industry.s leading independent production and distribution companies.
