When Will Trent leading man Ramón Rodríguez visited TVLine’s New York City offices late last month, he warned that Season 2 would end on “a bit” of a cliffhanger: “There are some things that [Will] gains, which is great, and there are some things that he loses, which is not great.”
Suffice it to say, our curiosity was piqued when we caught up with his costars at ABC’s Upfront earlier this week. We asked each of them how viewers would feel when they reach the climax of Tuesday’s finale — aka the last new episode until 2025 — and with each passing answer,...

It’s been four years since Disney and Peter Jackson announced intent to restore Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s Let It Be––long enough (and with enough baggage) to think that might never materialize. It’s no mistake you’ve probably never seen the final film made during the lifetime of the world’s most-successful band: while Get Back did much to show a fruitful side of the Beatles creating their last(ish) album, Lindsay-Hogg’s 1970 feature has long been notorious for its window into their discord, and by most accounts the group’s controlling interests were fine letting it languish in bootlegs.
But it is arriving at long last and in just one week. Ahead of a Disney+ premiere on Wednesday, May 8, a first trailer shows the restoration work––notes of Jackson’s controversial refurbish in some shots (notably ones I recognize from Get Back), more grain than I’d have expected in others.

Renowned for his big screen adaptations of William Shakespeare and Agatha Christie tales, Branagh changes gears to portray one of the greatest authors of the ages for The King of Kings. Hugh Jackman believed that he was done with the Wolverine role after Logan until Ryan Reynolds convinced him to return to the character once again. Jackman was fully committed to his transformation journey for Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine and even documented the process on his socials under the hashtag #becomingwolverineagain. In his most recent post, he credited Beth Lewis, his trainer, and Andy, her dog, for helping him to achieve the mountain task.
Hugh Jackman had to undergo intense training to get back his old Wolverine body
Hugh Jackman showed no signs of aging when he committed to his intense training under Lewis. The Greatest Showman actor even had a fun rivalry with Reynolds to see who would get in the best shape for the role.

Of all the superheroes in the X-Men guild, Gambit is inevitably one of the most popular and beloved ones. Yet, he is also the one who hasn’t been able to earn himself more than one appearance in a live-action project of the mutants. Even when Channing Tatum was reportedly cast to star as Gambit in his very own solo movie, the film was later revealed to be canceled and swept under the rug.
Gambit in Marvel Comics
This is why fans are desperate to see him on the big screen once again. Not only in his animated form, like in the recently released series X-Men ’97, but also in a live-action project with Tatum embodying him. While this dream seemed far-fetched as of late, it seems it just might come true through Deadpool 3, as can be derived from Tatum’s recent message for Hugh Jackman.
Warning: Contains X-Men ’97 Spoilers Ahead!

Deadpool & Wolverine could finally answer one thing about Logan, a film that was a loose adaptation of the Old Man Logan miniseries. In the film, we saw the sorry state of mutant-kind in the wake of the X-Men and other heroic factions, but it did beg one question: Where were the non-heroic mutant factions of the Fox-verse?
Hugh Jackman as Logan in Logan
What in particular has perplexed fans is what happened to Magneto, whose faction would have made it very difficult for mutant kind to be hunted the way it was in the film. Deadpool & Wolverine might be able to give us some answers with regards to this, given that the film might be jumping timelines and universes. It would finally be able to explain what exactly happened to Magneto and his faction of pro-mutant fighters.

The deceptively unassuming figure of Los Angeles homicide detective Lieutenant Columbo (Peter Falk), with his rumpled raincoat, cheap cigars, and seeming absentmindedness, might not call to mind the sprawling existentialist novels of Fyodor Dostoevsky. But Columbo’s ancestry can be traced all the way back to Porfiry Petrovich, the pesky, psychologically attuned investigator in Crime and Punishment.
Like that literary classic, the show that shares Columbo’s name functions as an inverted detective story, not so much a whodunit as a howcatchem. In each episode, we spend time with the murderer, soak up their milieu, and witness the commission of the crime. Only then does Columbo make his entrance onto the scene. From there, it’s an escalating battle of nerves between the dogged detective and the initially arrogant murderer.
While Rodion Raskolnikov, the tortured protagonist of Crime and Punishment, is an impoverished student who kills out of economic necessity...

It’s about time for a new King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard album. The psych rockers have announced their next project The Silver Cord, which is due out October 27th.
The Silver Cord arrives just a couple short months after King Gizz’s last album, the metal-leaning PetroDragonic Apocalypse. But this go around, the band say they’ll revert more towards the electronic influences explored on their pandemic-era album Butterfly 3000, citing classic disco and Kraftwerk as some of its influences.
“It’s definitely synth-y,” the group’s Joey Walker said of The Silver Cord. “You could draw comparisons in many ways, but just in the nature of us being in the same room and playing and writing together, it’s vastly different than Butterfly.”
The Silver Cord is seven tracks long, but according to an Instagram post, King Gizzard will also be issuing a version that includes “extended” versions of each tune.

“A Haunting in Venice,” the latest all-star mystery film starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh, tells the story of the detective Hercule Poirot trying to uncover another killer after someone is murdered at a séance in Italy. With Branagh’s latest movie currently in theaters, let’s look back at his eight Oscar races and talk about how the actor-director finally won his first gold trophy just last year.

Of his eight Oscar mentions, he has competed in seven categories total — Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay and Best Live Action Short Film. Apple Original Films is back with another original film after Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon. Fingernails is a sci-fi romance that explores the idea of love in the digital age, starring Jessie Buckley, Jeremy Allen White, and Riz Ahmed. The film is directed by Christos Nikou, who made his English-language debut with this project.
Fingernails is set in a world where scientists have developed a test that can prove whether two people are in love or not. The test involves pulling out a fingernail from each person and scanning it with a machine that measures their happiness. Anna (Buckley) is a woman who works at an institute that conducts this test on couples who are desperate to find out the truth about their relationship. The 48th Toronto International Film Festival, from which I just returned, technically runs through Sunday, but by this point, virtually every film in the lineup has screened at least once. So, I thought I’d seize this opportunity to share some impressions of this year’s fest and the awards hopefuls that played there and also offer some informed speculation about which film could pick up some wind behind its award season sails on Sunday when the fest announces the winner of its TIFF Audience Award.
What was the vibe at this year’s fest?
Given the ongoing strikes of actors and writers, red carpets and pre-screening introductions were far less star-studded than in other years. My concern was that this — and the fact that very few of the award season’s most highly anticipated films had elected to premiere at TIFF — could really depress attendance. That, in turn, might...

Neve Campbell is attending the Toronto International Film Festival — not as an actress but in her capacity of producer of “Swan Song”, the Chelsea McMullan-directed documentary taking viewers inside the National Ballet of Canada’s 2022 production of “Swan Lake”, directed and staged by the legendary Karen Kain.
“Karen Kain was my idol. She is the one of the reasons I became an artist”
Campbell spoked with Et Canada’s Sangita Patel, who asked her if, now that she’d produced, she might next have her eye on directing.
“You know, it’s interesting. I was just offered to direct something and I read it, but I’m not going to do it,” she said.
“I realize, you know, you have to, if you’re going to direct, because it takes so much more time than acting, because pre-production, post-production, the whole thing,” she continued. “You have to love it.

At this year’s Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, the team behind Vampire: The Masquerade showed up in force to debut several projects, including the announcement of the future of Bloodlines II. The game is now coming in 2024, courtesy of new developer The Chinese Room.
This may seem like a massive departure if you’re familiar with The Chinese Room’s previous work, which includes Dear Esther, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and the forthcoming Still Wakes the Deep. Bloodlines II is supposedly a choice-based action RPG, while Tcr’s creative output is mostly narrative adventure games.
They do have a plan here, however. At Pax, I was ushered into an inordinately creepy meeting room in the official Vampire: The Masquerade booth to hear all about it.

"You can't go half-way with 'Swan Lake.'" Who's ready to dive head-first into the world of ballet? Dogwoof has revealed an official promo trailer for the documentary film Swan Song, premiering soon at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. Not to be confused with Mahershala Ali's sci-fi film Swan Song or Udo Kier's indie comedy film Swan Song, both with the same name, this is a doc about the opera "Swan Lake". The Canadian film offers a deep look of the incredible devotion, artistry and sacrifices that Karen Kain and the National Ballet of Canada dancers make in their pursuit of creating something unique, meaningful, beautiful. TIFF says it's a powerfully intimate look at the process of putting on a performance of "Swan Lake". The fest adds: "Even something as simple as Kain pushing for the dancers to abandon the pink tights of the swan costumes — thus acknowledging...

“Scream” star Neve Campbell has boarded the Toronto Film Festival-bound documentary “Swan Song,” about the National Ballet of Canada, as an executive producer.
Campbell, who is Canadian, is expected to attend Toronto in support of the film, which follows the ballet company as it mounts a new production of “Swan Lake” directed by ballet icon Karen Kain on the eve of her retirement.
The documentary will screen as part of the festival’s Special Presentations program. TIFF announced its official lineup on Monday, promising an array of world premiere titles despite the SAG-AFTRA actors strike, which will likely impede its red carpets.

Paramount, the studio whose Scream VI is currently scaring up the box office, continues to bet on horror, picking up spec package He’ll Come Knocking.
Patrick Brice, who last directed the thriller There’s Someone Inside Your House, is on board to direct the feature project, which is written by Jordan Goldberg and Alex Paraskevas.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill Entertainment, which was behind the surprise horror hit Smile for the studio, is producing Knocking.
Adapting a story by author Robert McCammon, Knocking tells of an ex-con who gets a new job in a revitalized factory town in the hopes of turning around his family’s life, only to soon discover that their idyllic suburban dream requires a terrible sacrifice.
Sources describe the project as being in the tone of the fight-for-your-life survival aspects of such movies as Ready or Not, The Purge and Squid Game.

There’s a leadership shakeup at Anonymous Content, the Oscar and Emmy-winning media company behind “Spotlight” and “True Detective.” Dawn Olmstead and Heather McCauley have resigned abruptly from their roles as CEO and COO, the company said.
“Thanks to Dawn’s contributions, the company is in a strong position, and we are confident that our team, values and talent will continue to thrive,” the board of Anonymous Content said in a statement. “Dawn has been a valued leader for the past two years and we wish her and Heather the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
No reason was given for the exits, but it comes as a surprise, particularly given Olmstead’s deep relationships within Hollywood. Her departure may have something to do with a disagreement over the company’s decision to settle with Keith Redmon, a long-time executive who was fired from Anonymous Content in 2021. He later...

Exclusive: Robert Walak and Alisa Tager will be leaving their posts as Presidents of Film & Television at AC Studios, the independent film and TV production studio that sits inside Anonymous Content, when their contracts are up in a couple of months.
Walak and Tager are expected to continue producing projects for AC Studios through an arrangement whose terms are still being worked out.
There are no details yet about the duo’s replacement though I hear UCP veteran Garrett Kemble, who joined Anonymous Content as EVP of Development for AC Studios last summer, reuniting with former UCP President Dawn Olmstead who is now CEO of Anonymous Content, is poised for a bigger role in light of Walak and Tager’s pending exit.
“Alisa and Robert are brilliant producers,” said Anonymous Content Cco David Levine. “It has been a pleasure working with the two of them these past few years to...
