- Bosch and Edgar follow a lead in the arson fire case to the famed Magic Castle. Lt. Billets ruffles feathers in the officer ranks. After Chandler's new client Vincent Franzen spends a night in jail, he offers up a “muy grande pescado” as his get-out-of-jail-free card.

Bosch gets the cause of death from the ME, little Sonia died of smoke inhalation and asphyxia. Jerry Edgar sits in a strip club front row seat. La Mayorista meets another gang leader Mickey Peña in a bar, she wants to know who started the fire, it's hurt her business and threatens to buy her drugs elsewhere. Peña asks his crew to look into it as they chuckle.
Lt. Billets addresses the uniform cops and urges them to attend court as witnesses even on their days off, otherwise the cases can be thrown out. The men grumble and a couple in the back row make some comments about Detectives getting all the glory. Billets shoots them down.
Detectives Pierce and Vega share a word in the squad room, Rondell is studying for the 2nd Grade exam, she suggests he concentrate on the oral exam. J.Edgar shows up in his yesterday suit and changes into a new shirt he has in his drawer. Bosch is angry with his appearance. Det Collins gives some more info on the gangs, a file on Miguel Peña, Emmanuel Trejo and he has informants looking for La Mayorista.
J.Edgar and Bosch visit an executive with the company owning the apartment building. She explains they have the right to evict tenants who are involved with the police, the cops realize this policy puts the residents at risk as even legitimate complaints can get them evicted, they suspect the company is doing it with a purpose.
Money Chandler arrives at court and arranges a seat for Frantzen's wife. Jerry falls asleep in the car until Harry turns up the radio volume. Back in court for the bail hearing the DA wants a huge sum but the judge agrees to only $1.5m, Chandler smiles at Frantzen.
Harry and Jerry visit the owner of the gray SUV, she says she was at a fancy restaurant all evening and used valet parking. Next they go to see the Valet Supervisor, he claims nothing could have happened but gives the names of his staff on duty New Years Eve.
Irving has lunch with a friendly Police Commissioner. The man reveals he has Stage IV pancreatic cancer and has to quit the Commission, Irving would then likely lose his 3-2 advantage. Irving pays for lunch and wishes the man the best.
In her office, Chandler meets with Frantzen. Even with restitution and remorse he is still looking at serving time even in a minimum security "Club Fed" . Frantzen is adamant he can't go to jail and looks for a way to avoid it.
Bosch selects a valet on the list to see, a parolee for grand theft auto. They visit him working on a car in his yard. He claims he is clean but when pressured admits he "rented" the SUV to two gang members that night for a couple of hours. Bosch warns him he could be an accessory to 5 homicides.
Irving again tries to talk to Jen, the Mayor's aide, on what's up but she rebuffs him again and won't help.
Jerry arrives at his ex's house to pick up his sons but Latonya says they made other plans as he was late. Jerry hugs his boys and leaves.
Relaxing at home Harry and Maddie discuss their work, joking that they can't say too much. Maddie asks about Michael Milliken, the disgraced financier. Irving plays his piano as Jun comes to talk, he suggests quitting but she urges him to stay on.
Jerry goes to a Haitian shop for some special tea, another customer congratulates him for killing "the Butcher" Avril, Jerry is take aback.
In the morning, Grace Billets sees a homophobic slur written on her car, she sighs. Bosch and J.Edgar figure how to find Trey-Trey and Zorro the two guys who took the SUV on New Years. They are listed in the Las Palmas 13 gang database. Trejo is the senior and Alvarez a junior. They organize a take down.
At the gang's house several cop cars converge with guns drawn, most of the gang surrender but one challenges J.Edgar directly. Jerry disarms him with a bit of excessive force as onlookers video on their phones. Back at the Station Harry is angry that Jerry lost his cool in public, this could damage the case for Sonia's killers. Harry does try to minimize what happened for Billets. A nervous Alvarez is put in a cell with a menacing fellow prisoner.
At dinner Grace and her partner discuss the homophobia in the LAPD, Grace agrees to report it in the morning. Jerry apologizes to Harry who still tells him to "tighten up or bounce"
La Mayorista calls Mickey Peña having heard his crew was arrested. She asks if his guys Trey Trey and Zorro will stand up, Pena says yes since they didn't do the firebombing.
Jerry is parked outside the old Avila house, drinking from a small bag. A patrol car stops to check him out, he lies and says he just had a fight with his wife. They let him go.
