Doctor Lucia moves with her family to the mountain village of Rotten, her husband Matthi's hometown. Her daughter suffers from severe asthma and the healthy mountain air is supposed to alleviate Alma's illness. But the new start is bumpy.
The legend of the guardian of the mountains preoccupies Alma. The body of a young woman is said to be found on the Muttstein. Alma's premonition becomes reality on the thawing glacier .
Clearly, Marianne was murdered. Prochazka also questions Alma. Since her body was found, Anna's behavior has become increasingly strange. Lucia discovers parallels to the dead Marianne and realizes Alma knows things she can't really know.
Alma has disappeared. The weather complicates the search operation. Lucia is convinced that her daughter is alive, even if chances are getting slimmer. Then she learns about the myth: does the mountain demand respect for sins of the past?
Two nights have passed since Alma disappeared. The breathless search has been unsuccessful. Now there is a danger of avalanches. Everyone, including Matthi, doubts Alma's survival. The search is canceled.
Maria blames Lucia for Bruno's death and seeks revenge. Matthi has already been put out of action by her, now she lures Lucia into a trap - she has found Alma. A violent confrontation ensues between the two women on the Muttstein .
