Man-Machine

Robots have been in the realms of science fiction since the word 'robot' was coined. It comes from a Czech word, robota, meaning 'forced labour.'

James May travels the world looking at the development of these man machines. In Japan he sees the evolution of the exo skeleton. A woman can lift heavy objects with such a suit.

In Disneyland there is Asimo, a robot who can walk almost like a human but a door confuses it.

A woman in America has a bionic eye. Another scientist creates a robot with an almost lifelike image of himself.

What May really discovers is that throughout the world, scientists are creating the world of tomorrow with different ideas of robots that are not rooted to yesterday.

Robots can see and differentiate between different objects. Images taken by the thousands are uploaded in a database ad life experiences are created.

James May regards himself as a nuts and bolts type of guy, this program certainly makes you consider that this is a big idea that will become more meaningful in the future.
