After a decorated career in television, The Family Plan director Simon Cellan Jones has returned to feature films for the first time in two-plus decades.
Cellan Jones’ feature career began with 2000’s Some Voices, a British drama starring a still-emerging Daniel Craig, and he soon followed that up with 2002’s The One and Only, before spending two decades in television, helming episodes of How to Make It in America, Treme, Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Ballers and Shooter. Four of the aforementioned shows were executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, and when the actor needed a filmmaker to direct March 2024’s Arthur the King during the pandemic, he gave Cellan Jones a second go-round in the feature space. The shoot went well, so well that after Cellan Jones locked picture, he quickly started prepping their current Apple TV+ release, The Family Plan.

On Entourage, the central tension always involved the question of whether Vince was gonna do the movie. Only there was never really any tension, because of course Vince was gonna do the movie — or, if he didn’t, things would in some other way work out just fine for him, E, Turtle, and even Johnny Drama. Yet for a show with no real stakes and only a modest level of humor (especially if you weren’t amused by Ari screaming actionable insults at Lloyd), it ran for eight seasons. And a movie!

From the beginning, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi has approached his career as an artist who would sooner toil in obscurity than be renowned for just one thing. Just two years after dropping “A Kid Named Cudi,” the mixtape that launched him into the spotlight, he was cast in “How to Make It in America,” a short-lived HBO-originals deep cut. In the decade since that show ended in 2011, he’s earned a reputation for bouncing willy-nilly between genres, mediums, and disciplines, and the choices that once seemed fickle now seem confidently eclectic.
Never has Mescudi looked more like a polymath than with the debut of “Entergalactic,” an animated Netflix special timed to the release of his new studio album (also dropping on Sept. 30), which bears the same title. “Entergalactic” was initially announced in 2019 as a series to be created by Mescudi and Kenya Barris, but has since been whittled down to...

A far cry from HBO’s other youth-centered show (that would be the visceral and brazen “Euphoria”), HBO’s newest attempt at catching the Gen-z zeitgeist, “Industry,” hews closer to the short-lived “How to Make it in America,” both in treating the professional and sexual lives of 20-somethings as semi-interesting dramatic fodder, and in terms of quality, as the two shows are workmanlike and, ultimately, forgettable.

The Lil Yachty-led comedy “Public Figures” is moving to HBO Max from Quibi, TheWrap has confirmed.
The series is being re-developed at the WarnerMedia streamer following news earlier this month that Quibi will shut down. It marks the first of the short-form streamer’s programs to find a new outlet in the weeks since Quibi’s creative partners were forced to seek alternative options for projects in development at the time of the decision.
“Public Figures” was first set up at Quibi in May of last year, with Lil Yachty set to star. Loosely based on his life, the ensemble dramedy explores what it’s like to be an aspiring influencer in New York City. The series follows a group of friends as they find themselves, lose themselves, experience epic failures and hard-fought success, hookups and breakups, and then do it all over again.

Hulu has optioned the rights to Curtis Sittenfeld’s alternative history book “Rodham,” which takes place in a world in which Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton.
The series is described as telling the story of an ambitious young woman, developing her extraordinary mind in the latter part of the 20th century, moving from idealism to cynicism and all the way back again.
Sarah Treem is attached to write and executive produce the project. “The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Warren Littlefield will also executive produce “Rodham” via The Littlefield Company along with Sittenfeld. Fox 21 Television Studios, where Littlefield is under an overall deal, will produce.
Should the show go to series, it would be the second project focused on Hillary Clinton that Hulu has aired. The streamer debuted the four-part docuseries “Hillary” back in March. That series chronicled her 2016 presidential campaign while also delving into events from her past that shaped her life.

It appears The Baker and the Beauty‘s cancellation will stick: Efforts to find a new home for the axed ABC romantic dramedy have proven unsuccessful, TVLine has learned.
The news comes three weeks after Alphabet network cancelled the show, citing low ratings. In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, the series’ leading lady, Nathalie Kelley, condemned the decision. “Baker and the Beauty is a show that depicts Latin families as warm, lovable, full of joy and compassion and humor,” the actress said. “A cancellation by ABC means that there are now no shows on the networks with a Latinx cast.

“If there’s one thing I can say about Danny the professional, it’s that he refused to let us settle for anything less than our best. He pushed us to do what he knew we were capable of,” Putman wrote.
“Harold & Kumar” stars John Cho and Kal Penn also remembered Leiner on Twitter.
“Danny was so sharp, so funny, and a great dinner companion. To his friends and family, my deepest condolences,” wrote Cho.
“He was such a funny, thoughtful, encouraging person,” Penn tweeted.

In case you're wondering, we used a precise methodology to count down these super-jews.
A pretty face and a banging body are equally delicious, but scoring a spot on this epic lineup requires true talent. Bonus points for a spectacular sense of humor and strong influence on popular culture. Amen!
47. Max Greenfield As the breakout star of “New Girl," Max played Schmidt, one of three guys who share a Los Angeles loft with Jess (Zooey Deschanel). Greenfield falls hard for Jessica's Bff, the way-out-of his league fashion model, CeCe and their on again off again romance kept our attention for all seven seasons. HBO's hit TV series The Deuce examines the lives of sex workers in New York City amid porn's controversial rise to popularity in the 1970s. It's an amazing drama with a phenomenal cast including James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Carr, and many more (Method Man included). We've been anxiously awaiting season two's debut, and now that it's finally here, we can again dive deep into the show's heated plot points and enjoy the firecracker cast. With a new look on the show, one cast member in particular has been catching our attention.
Abby Parker stepped on the scene in season one as a trailblazing, vivacious college student who becomes Vincent Martino's (Franco) latest romantic interest. In the second season, we've jumped ahead to when Parker is about 26 years old. We think Margarita Levieva plays the character perfectly, so we couldn't help but wonder where else this actress has left her mark.
