- The film "Last Call" tells a universal story that can happen anywhere in the world and is understandable to everyone. The plot is on the edge of the comic and the tragic, it is absurd, romantic, even grotesque sometimes, but also very real. Behind the seemingly ridiculous situations the film affecting important philosophical questions about the meaning of life, death, love, rebellion against vulgarity, hypocrisy, greed, alienation, committing a crime, the punishment and the retribution. The famous writer from the recent past Nikola Vladimirov (Kolyo) is on the parapet of an incredibly high bridge. Only after a moment and everything, love and hate, greed and nobility, pain and loneliness will remain behind him above the water... At the very last moment, the 70-year-old writer notices 23-year-old Alexandra, determined to end her life just the same, shelters her in his house by the sea and along with her story, detaches himself from what made him go to the bridge. Kolyo devises a secret plan for Alexandra's rescue, in which his last living friend Valcho, a former naval captain, embarks. His friends from the nursing home where he lives can't help but go with him. The old men kidnap Alexandra's lover, who left her pregnant, and will stop at nothing to reunite the two. The tabloids spread a false sensation that Alexandra will marry the former literary greatness. Kolyo's daughters Ralitsa and Kalina, who haven't seen their father for 15 years, are horrified at the thought of losing their inheritance and urgently arrive at his house with their families. The information from the newspaper also reached Father Boyan, a former circus artist and now a priest in prison. He is devastated that his daughter Alexandra, who ran away from home 3 years ago, will marry a decrepit old man. His favourite inmates from the Sunday school in prison - the conman Ventsi, the forger Zdravko and the former Deputy Minister Grigor, embark on a rescue operation to get the girl out of the clutches of the "depraved" old man. All the characters clashed in Kolyo's house and everyone fights for what he considers most important - love, redemption, money, honour, inheritance, friendship. Comic situations follow one after another. The avalanche of absurd experiences turns out to be a catalyst that turns upside down the lives and relationships of the characters. Everyone learns something new about the other, but also about themselves.
