Cocaine Bear (read our review Here) screenwriter Jimmy Warden has said that he has ideas for multiple sequels to the film, and some movie-goers have already let it be known that they’re hoping and waiting for a movie that would be called Cocaine Shark. But while we wait to see if Cocaine Bear is going to spawn a franchise, the mockbuster masters at The Asylum have unveiled a poster of the mockbuster they have made to cash in on the Cocaine Bear hype: a movie called Attack of the Meth Gator! An exact release date hasn’t been announced, but we can expect to see Attack of the Meth Gator sometime this summer.
We can only assume that Attack of the Meth Gator is going to be about an alligator going on a killing spree after consuming meth, much like Cocaine Bear is about a bear going on a killing spree after consuming cocaine.

Stars: Madison Ekstrand, Evan Adams, Sasha Anne, Clint Carmichael, Joe Estevez, Anthony Jensen, Julia Kelly | Written by Sandy Lo, Tricia Aurand, Suzanne DeLaurentiis | Directed by Dale Fabrigar
Reed’s Point reunites several of the people behind 2018’s D-Railed, including director Dale Fabrigar (They Crawl Beneath), and co-writer Suzanne DeLaurentiis (Area 401) who wrote the script along with Sandy Lo and Tricia Aurand (Middleton Christmas). I found it to be a fun mash-up of monsters, ghosts, and a heist gone wrong. So a film from them about The Jersey Devil seemed like it had a chance to be the first film about the creature to actually be good.
It starts with Kelsey (Madison Ekstrand) her boyfriend Alex (Evan Adams; The Wrong Valentine) and cousin Sarah (Sasha Anne) joining Kelsey’s father Greg on a business Rv trip. However, on the way to pick up the client, the driver swerves to avoid a deer and crashes.

Swiss filmmaker Tim Fehlbaum’s dystopian feature “Tides” is screening in this year’s Berlinale Special section and looking to make a mark at the European Film Market while in town, where Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales.
“Tides” has science fiction in its production DNA, co-produced by leading European independent company Constantin, which has established itself among the world’s leading producers of genre cinema with titles like “Resident Evil” and “Monster Hunters” in its catalog, and German Studio Babelsberg, the oldest large-scale film studio in the world and the home of cinema science fiction, where Fritz Lang shot “Metropolis.” Roland Emmerich was also on board as an executive producer, and Munich based BerghausWöbke Filmproduktion and Swiss Vega Film Ag (Ruth Waldburger) co-produced.

With fewer than 40 percent of theaters open, and the Covid surge further depressing out of home activity, the usually lucrative pre-Christmas week — which usually yields some of the top grosses of the year — has shifted to a home-viewing experience. And that has shaken up our charts. For both VOD and Netflix, major new titles head up the lists.
In an unprecedented occurrence, the same three titles top the lists for Apple TV, Google Play, and FandangoNow. “The Croods: A New Age” (Universal), “Tenet” (Warner Bros.), and “Greenland” (STX), all available to rent at $19.99, lead whether the charts calculate by number of purchases or total revenue accrued.
Meantime, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” became the first of Netflix’s film awards contenders to open at #1 on their film chart (as well as on their broader listings). It has remained there for three days with clear indications that it has far more popular...

There’s a nice moment about halfway through “Monster Hunter,” when Captain Artemis, a U.S. Army ranger played by Milla Jovovich, and Hunter, a warrior of uncertain provenance played by Tony Jaa, are preparing to head into battle against, well, a monster.
Captain Artemis looks at Hunter with a steely gaze, because that’s clearly her forte, and says something she’s no doubt said plenty of times before in plenty of other dicey situations: “Let’s do this.”
Whereupon Hunter, who doesn’t speak English because he’s not from our world, gives her a blank look. “Huh?” he says.
Artemis stops, realizes her schtick isn’t playing to this audience, and shrugs. “Never mind,” she says.
It’s an amusing exchange, one of only a few in Paul W.S. Anderson’s extravagant foolishness based on the Capcom video game of the same name. But “Let’s do this,...

Well here's something a little unexpected. While most movies are pushing their releases into next year, Sony has actually pushed up the date of their upcoming action extravaganza Monster Hunters.
Directed by W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich and badass extraordinaire Tony Jaa, this adaptation of the Capcom, stars Jovovich and Jaa as the leaders of a military team who fight giant monsters. There's desert, giant weapons, and an array of great-looking CG monsters. Basically the perfect combination for vapid holiday movie watching.
The kicker here is that while the release date has been moved a couple of times, it appears that this final (maybe?) push int...
