Historically and Factually Inaccurate

I can't believe what I just watched!!! WTF. If you want to make a documentary on a key subject like this, you've gotta do your research and get your facts right. This film was filled with holes and misinformation on the origin of the Nigerian film industry and a gross misrepresentation of its current state.

For a documentary that was released in 2020, there's no excuse for producing such nonsense. Save yourself the stress and skip this one. And if you decide to watch, take note that the industry isn't as simplistic as presented, and the industry is much older than 1992. Most of the practitioners that were interviewed are not even known. It's just a mess overall.

Disappointment

I agree with the first review. I found this documentary embedded in a narcissistic, eurocentric perspective and even as an outsider I can tell it seem to be made without any acutal knowledge or real interest. There are a lot of summaries of "facts" made by the narrator voice in the documentary that comes across, as already mentioned, as flawed and simplified. It was dissapointing having a so called documentary on Nollywood be reduced to the level of a British tabloid. If anything was worth seeing it was some of the interviews with actors and filmmakers. It is however clear the documentary-maker is not realy connecting with the people interviewed.
