The Winner Takes It All: “The Masked Singer” paid tribute to Swedish super group Abba on Wednesday — and unmasked two 1980s icons in the process. Pop ingenue Debbie Gibson, who first hit it big in 1987 as a 17-year-old sensation who wrote and sang her own songs, was unmasked as the Night Owl, while comedian and “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel — who rose to recognition on the 1980s medical drama “St. Elsewhere” — was revealed to be the Rock Lobster.
Gibson was a last-minute addition to the episode after the celebrity who was originally set to appear had to exit after testing positive for Covid. With less than 24 hours to taping, Gibson agreed to step in.

Exclusive: The Masked Singer might just be getting the Coronation Street treatment.
ITV is understood to be preparing more Masked Singer mashups with its stalwart shows as The Masked Dancer’s budget is redirected, Deadline understands.
The Masked Dancer will definitely not air in 2023 and could be axed full stop, while ITV instead looks at making more Masked Singer mashups in the vein of last year’s The Masked Singer: I’m a Celebrity special, with several expected to be dotted throughout the year.
Sources from the UK entertainment sector said ITV will continue utilizing its tentpole brands for the mashups and one speculated long-running soap Coronation Street could be next.
Along with I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Britain’s Got Talent, The Masked Singer has become one of ITV’s biggest entertainment juggernauts, with the final airing tomorrow. It regularly attracts more than 5M viewers.

South Park tore into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the latest episode of the series.
The adult animation didn’t hold back when depicting the couple, with viewers branding the episode “brutal”.
While they didn’t specifically use their names, the male character is a red-headed prince and his wife wears the exact same outfit Meghan once wore in 2018.
In the episode, titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour”, the prince is promoting a book named Waaaagh, which is a seeming reference to Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare, which was released last month.
The couple are shown around South Park, with the Meghan character stating: “If we moved here, people would think we’re really serious about wanting to be normal.”
Their arrival in South Park annoys the show’s characters, with Kyle saying: “They have this huge jet parked in front of my house and they keep on wanting me to buy their book.

The Last of Us makers are being called “pretetnious” after it was revealed they “banned” a certain word from being spoken on set.
Last month, the HBO videogame adaptation, from Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, was released to acclaim, with particular praise being heaped upon lead stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an outbreak that sees heat=adsapted fungus cordyceps reduce humans to an infected state.
Many viewers unfamiliar with the games might assume that the infected are, in fact, zombies – but this is actually a point of contention among fans who get frustrated when people refer to them as such.
It turns out the word “zombie” was actually banned from being spoken on set. Cinematographer Even Bolten, who worked on four episodes of the season, made the revelation in a new interview.

Jeremy Clarkson is in hot water again, following a terse exchange on his show Clarkson’s Farm, in which he told a dyslexic barrister to “learn to spell”.

Streeten subsequently published an open letter to Clarkson, revealing his learning difficulties and explaining they had not affected his career as a barrister, later adding that he had not expected the remark to be televised.

Britney Spears’ recent media storm may be coming from within her own circle.
The pop star became the center of public attention this week when it was reported there was an attempt to stage an intervention from her close confidants.
TMZ first wrote about the news on Thursday, claiming there was a planned intervention to address her mental health and substance abuse issues.
While the meeting didn’t end up happening, due to Spears learning of it, the plan was said to have involved Spears’ manager renting a house where Spears would spend two months while she received medical treatment and psychological counseling.
Considering the pop star only recently ender her conservatorship of 13 years, citing manipulation from her father Jamie Spears’ end, there has been concern over the recent rumours.

Kim Petras became the first openly transgender woman singer to earn a Grammy. She, along with Sam Smith, won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their single, “Unholy.”
The track was nominated alongside Abba’s “Don’t Shut Me Down,” Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran‘s “Bam Bam,” Coldplay and BTS’ “My Universe” and Post Malone and Doja Cat‘s “I Like You (A Happier Song).”
In her acceptance speech, Petras praised Smith for being a supporter throughout her music career.
“I just want to thank all the incredible transgender legends performing who kicked these doors open for me so I could be here tonight,” she said.
She went on to mention the late experimental pop producer and singer-songwriter, Sophie, who collaborated with her on tracks like “1, 2, 3 Days Up.” “[Sophie] told me this would happen, and always believed in me. Thank you so much for your inspiration, Sophie. I adore...

The Masked Singer is back on our screens, turning the nation into at-home detectives as they try to figure out who this year’s celebrity contestants are.
The singing competition series, in which celebrities compete anonymously behind giant anthropomorphic costumes, returned on New Year’s Day, with the first group of contestants all performing.
Among the group was Phoenix, who was shown in their Vt standing within a grand castle and explaining in a posh accent that “I am rather hot, aren’t I?”
“Fire” by Kasabian then played as Phoenix said that they had risen from the ashes and been “born anew” and “reincarnated”.
They also said that they were good with “mysteries” and “following a trail”, while Phoenix was shown inspecting foot prints with a magnifying glass.
Phoenix’s first performance was a jazz version of “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk. While performing, they sang with an American accent.

The Masked Singer has more surprises than ever up its sleeve. The mystery celebrity singing competition is switching up the format in a major way for its upcoming eighth season, premiering Sept. 21, according to Fox. For the first time ever, only one celebrity will move on from each episode. In seasons past, the celebrity with the lowest votes from the audience and judging panel would be unmasked, with the remaining celebs moving on in the competition. However, in season eight, the studio audience will vote for their favorite of three performances, and the singer with the least amount of votes will unmask mid-show. After that, the two remaining contestants will compete in a Battle Royale of the...

There will be some changes when Season 8 of Fox’s The Masked Singer premieres later this month.
Under the new format announced today by the network, each episode of the celebrity singing contest will feature the usual knock-out performances by elaborately disguised celebrities, but for the first time, only one contestant will move on from each episode. The studio audience will vote for their favorite, and the singer with the least amount of votes will unmask mid-show. That celebrity will get a front row seat in the Masked Singer VIP section to watch the rest of the competition and the second unmasking, and for the first time, won’t have to to wait to find out what celebrity they were competing against.
The Top Two singers then will face off in a Battle Royale performance of the same song. The winner will be crowned the King or Queen of The...

Country singer-songwriter Luke Bell, whose throwback style blended strains of Texas, Nashville and Bakersfield, has died, according to his friend and collaborator Matt Kinman. He was 32.
Bell, who battled severe bipolar disorder, had traveled Arizona with Kinman to work, but went missing on Saturday, August 20th in Tucson. He was found dead about a week later, according to SavingCountryMusic.com, “not far from where he disappeared, and in a manner we all feared he would be when we first heard the news.” His cause of death is still pending an autopsy.
Kinman, who had played with Bell for the past six years told the outlet, “We came down here to Arizona, to work down here, play some music, and he just took off. He was in the back of the truck. I went in to get something to eat. I came out, and he’d got out of the truck and left.
