I like the show but Jasmine takes all the credit
evawebb-8687616 October 2022
I like the show, and I don't think Jasmine is rude to her clients, she's just direct. I think the formula of the show is fine, it follows the standard home improvement formula that is so common. I'm not too picky, I love watching before and after home transformations. For me it's mostly about the visuals and I can mostly ignore the cheesy scripted dialogue. What I don't like about the show is that Jasmine always takes all the credit. She says "I did this" and "I did that" or "I have to do this or that", when in fact it's a crew of talented workers actually doing most of the work. I get that she is the one executing the vision, but I really think she should give credit where credit is due and stop sayin "I" and start saying "we" or "the crew and I". I would also like to see Jasmine working with more contractors and tradespeople of color. It's all very white. Including the clients. Let's see some more people of color included in this show.

It's a nice show

The other reviewer must not have their chill pill. I do not find her annoying at all. It's the show's concept and her job to fix screw-ups done by homeowners who haven't a clue how to fix up their house. Of course she's going to be critical.

I find the show watchable and just fine, thank you very much.

Easy-watching, real-feel, positive show!
suxhghjhp4 October 2020
Jasmine is a pleasure to watch- she's real, knowledgeable without barrages of information, and good spirited. This is the perfect mix of "fix my disaster" & HGTV shows, without the eye-rolling fake feeling of shows like Fixer Upper. It's not too sickly sweet, unrealistic, shrouded prices. Jasmine tackles every issue with humour, transparency, and genuine zeal for what she does. The show also gives airtime to the contracting teams, instead of just showing progress being "magically" made- we love seeing credit go where credit is due!

Overall, this is an easy watch, realistic and honest info, and approaches tasks with humour and positivity.

One of my favorites on HGTV. Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes in the previous reviews! Jasmine Roth is smart & very talented as well as kind. I hope this show continues.

She's not rude people...
dannytaurus23 October 2022
I Love the show. All these men hating on a female builder is rediculous. She's telling them what they did was super dangerous. Yes she is real with them. She's a carpenter first. She's about the business. Im not into these shows normally but love this one. These bitter people in the ratings need to chill. My only complaint is all the white. Not every single episode goes over budget. I think the show gets better after she has the baby though. You can't please everybody i guess. I thought it was a new take on these shows. Showing the damaged house. She also tries to help rebuild the diy confidence in people during the episode. I love that she lets them enter alone an look around before she shows them things. Good show. Wrote the review because these other reviewers bashed her because she's female and that's dumb. She's not rude, she's serious when she needs to be serious.

Love the host of the show
heidiathomson4 May 2022
I find Jasmine to be very likeable and kind and do not find her condescending in any way, like others mentioned. Are we watching the same show? I think what may be happening is that the script of the show is just pointing out why these people need help (because some episodes have people who really need help well others not so much in terms of wrecking their house). It's the first season so I am sure they will find more clients who really did wreck their home and will also improve the show as it goes. Sometimes it's an editing issue that can shape what we see and with repetitions that can seem to make the dialogue overdone. Also, I have watched clips only and not full episodes but my impression is that Jasmine is kind, real, and does give her clients what they want and ask for. I am enjoying the show and looking forward to new episodes.

Annoying
dave_in_hants15 June 2022
Some good stuff but some really annoying and frustrating. Why do they rip up a perfectly good solid wood floor in several rooms and replace it with vinyl just because it creates 'a good flow throughout the house'. Then they add a bunch of things the client didn't ask for, like spending $2000 on a slab of tree to make a door, then ring the client and tell them about an unforeseen 'issue' (there's always one in this formulaic program) and tell them they'll need to find another x thousand dollars. Why not just ditch the stupid unneeded extras no one asked for and do the job within budget.

Could you be more condescending?
Jrobertson7631 October 2020
Okay we get it, the homeowner didn't know what he/she was doing, THATS WHY THEY CALLED YOU. The constant picking out and showing what they did wrong is exhausting and hard to watch. Generally these shows will bring in an expert, show the homeowner what needs to be done, and move on with the show. Not this one. This lady constantly barrages the homeowner with countless reasons they need her to fix the problems they made. It's extremely frustrating to watch.

Couldn't sit through 10 minutes.
JKR201314 September 2021
Most of the HGTV shows are mostly background noise and shows I don't need to give my undivided attention to. But this show, I wanted to see if the show was as nauseating as the commercials.

First, she berates the home owner/husband because they decided to remove like 3 tiles in the kitchen and made them out to feel like idiots. Then I say "guaranteed she just brings in a team and gets it done without having any skill in doing it"

Yup, next scene was her and the actual contractor. And the show takes a break from scenes of house work being done, they cut to this absolutely nauseating scene of her cutting cheese and making a platters to talk about how amazing she is.

I couldn't watch another minute. Easily the most nauseating woman on TV.

Jasmine Most Rude and Condescending HGTV Host
susieqtpie22 September 2022
I am visiting IMDB to see if I am the only viewer who thinks Jasmine is vile to her clientele. I'm submitting this review with the hope that both Jasmine and her show's producers read this. The rudeness and condescension displayed to homeowners remodeling their homes is unacceptable. Do the people involved with the show realize that Jasmine would be unemployed if homeowners were able to perform at her level? Many people want to be do it yourselfers to save money and for the sense of accomplishment and pride. An American pastime. JUST STOP WITH THE UNNECESSARY DRAMA. Jasmine, your attitude makes me hate you.

Cutting up cheese! Is this a cooking show? BORING, BORING,BORING. There are a lot of talented people in this world, she is NOT one of them. Sorry, sad but true. Get rid of this show, please.

Just rude
robingghiebert4 October 2021
I like Jasmine's design style but can't handle the constant negative comments about all her clients. Feels like she speaks down to them and could be much kinder about the mistakes they made. Would prefer to watch the design and fix of the home without all « told you so » narrative.

some of these people...
sarajimi23 September 2022
Some of the people seem to honestly need help but at least half apart to have turn their houses apart so they can appear on the show. Are there really that many people out there who start one project, realize they are in over their heads, and just walk away and start another one? Repeatedly? Leaving holes in multiple walls and bare subfloors seems to be standard behavior for these people, bonus points for leaving exposed electrical and gas. And where do they find so many spouses that just say, "sure honey, leave the holes in our entry way walls and go work on taking out that arch you think might be load bearing instead"? The latter seasons get better with people knowing when to say when, or having reason to think they could tackle some of these projects, but the first season is stupid.

Condescending Attitude Ruins The Show
carsal74 October 2021
My husband and I went into this show with an open mind. Jasmine Roth's condescending attitude toward the homeowners ruins any chance of our continuing to watch any further. Mrs. Roth needs to watch herself and LISTEN. Can she not hear her tone; not to mention the way the rising inflection of her words at the end of each sentence is repetitive and annoying? "Right?" "Right?" I will not even review the work done (by others, no less).

I would give this production a "0" or less, if I could.

Great interior design but bothersome construction errors
bobbixler44 February 2024
Some of the best interior designs I've seen if you've got the money. Jasmine is personable. However most viewers won't catch the construction errors. Such as using galvanized pipe for gas. Or installing dangerous railing on a second story deck (rails going horizontally allowing kids to just climb up and over instead of using vertical balusters). Or poor window flashing (no sill pan flashing, caulking the bottom flange allowing water to get trapped, reverse lapping the bottom flashing (house wrap should go under the window flashing here not over it). Just about every show I see something. It's just sad that aesthetics are more valued here than building codes and good practice engineering.
