- Now dating Alex, Belle invites him to lunch with Ben but the boys do not really hit it off and the exercise is a failure. A threesome arranged by Bambi with a vulgar club-owner is also a fiasco as Belle keeps seeing Alex's face instead of the client's.—don @ minifie-1
- "I don't do that very often," Hannah ruminates. Fantastic sex, unpaid, with someone she actually likes quite a bit. She lies down next to sleeping Alex. Then she sees the time. Her first client in six days, can't be late. She makes up some lame reason why she has to leave, lying through her teeth.
At a hotel that's not her usual haunt, she arrives for her job, a three-some set up by Bambi with a distinguished nightclub owner. When Belle arrives Bambi has bad news. Her Auntie Flo, as she calls it, has come for a visit. Belle teaches her how to make do with some well-placed absorbent material. There are no rain checks in pimping.
The man arrives and is a super cheesy, '70s guy with a gross mustache and, he later reveals, a leopard print banana hammock. As he lays down on Belle and tries to kiss her, she flashes back to her morning with Alex and can't bring herself to do her job. She says she won't have sex with him. She leaves.
Hannah tells Ben about the cheesy dude. She tells him she met someone. She hasn't been working. Ben's incredulous. He asks what Alex thinks of her job. Surprise, surprise, she hasn't told him. Ben asks if Alex is why she bailed on the job. She says it was an aberration. She tells Ben that Alex wants to meet him, because she talks about him all the time. Ben tells her she has to tell Alex what she does. She's ready to storm out after Ben gives her more grief, but he relents.
Hannah and Alex stroll arm and arm. He suggests they go back to her place. After some hesitation and awkwardness, she says OK. As they pull up to her flat, Bambi comes up and knocks on the car window. She starts to apologize to Hannah, saying she didn't realize she was working. Hannah cuts her off in time. Ben excuses himself and heads home, while Hannah leans over to kiss him good night, telling him Bambi has a drinking problem. Nice save. Bambi apologizes for the other day and insists on giving Belle her share. She offers to go out with her and Alex sometime and Belle grimaces at the idea of her worlds colliding. She's dreading lunch between her ex who knows she's a hooker and her current who doesn't. Sure, that won't be awkward at all.
At lunch, Ben and Alex wait for Hannah to arrive, trying to make small talk and failing spectacularly. Finally Hannah breezes in. Ben watches Alex and Hannah getting along like a couple and asks if she's going to tell Alex the truth, or should he? He tells Ben that the lovely Hannah here is.... Hannah looks panicked, but he finishes up with "a spy." Alex excuses himself to take a call from work. Ben asks her why she's acting like that and they continue bickering when Alex comes back. The lunch gets increasingly awkward until Hannah blames Ben for it and he solves the problem by leaving. Alex thinks he's figured out what's going on, that Ben is in love with her. She laughs, saying that's not it. He says he's probably overstepped his bounds, but the truth is the more time he spends with her, the more into her he gets. She keeps everything compartmentalized and he used to be like that. He says she's the most fantastic, beautiful thing that's come into his life. He sits down next do her and pours his heart out. He's just going to want more and more and it's painfully obvious she doesn't want those things, so he's not sure he wants to continue with something where he's going to get in deeper and she isn't. Hannah says nothing for a very long time. Then finally tells him: "I love you." She follows it up with a quiet "f---."
