- Vince has problems on the set of "Smokejumpers." Ari meets up with a former colleague.
- Vince is nervous since he hasn't been on set for over an year. The director Verner (Stellan Skarsgård), is making a real big movie out of Smokejumpers, which raises the stakes for Vince. Verner is aggressive. He does no rehearsals and shoots expensive scenes on the go. All this adds to Vince's anxiety. Verner is the winner of 2 academy awards in the foreign film category. Vince is nervous around Verner.
On the set of Smokejumpers, Vince winds up getting his lines stolen by co-star Jason Patric, and not only does the director Verner allow it, but Vince is too intimidated by Patric to do anything about it. The guys are split between whether its an accident or if Patric did this intentionally. Turtle wants Vince to talk directly to Patric. Vince wonders why nobody, including the script supervisor said anything about the slip-up. Vince goes to Patric's trailer to speak with him, but chickens out as Patric is doing his work-out regime. Turtle & Drama start vandalizing Patrick's stuff on set (they remove Patric's name from his reserved chair) to revenge his treatment of Vince.
Vince speaks to Verner, who says that he is aware of Patric saying Vince's lines, but refuses to interfere as he says that he needs to pick his battles or he might losing Patric altogether. Vince finally confronts Jason about insulting Turtle, he also summons the courage to speak to Jason about stealing his lines. Jason retorts by saying that it was Verner who assigned those lines to him. He didn't steal anything.
Ari has lunch with Andrew Klein (Gary Cole), an old friend and mentor who needs his help. Ari has canceled on Andrew 6 times already, but this time Lloyd forces Ari to keep his lunch appointment with Andrew. Ari doesn't want to meet Andrew as it reminds Ari of what he could have become and how far apart they are now in their careers. Andrew needs a loan from Ari (of $500,000) & gives him his company books as proof that he can pay it back. Lloyd looks at the books & tells Ari that Andrew has a minor cash flow problem and has a very successful business underneath. Lloyd says that Andrew can repay Ari in about 90 days. He has over 50 writers staffed on TV shows.
Ari remembers that Ari & Andrew were rising stars together. But Andrew went with the wrong agent, who screwed all of his clients and Andrew never made it back to the big game. Ari has dinner with Andrew & offers to buy his company, so that Andrew can join is agency full time and can be back in the big game. Ari says that the loan is Andrew's if he wants it, but Ari wants Andrew to have the life that they were supposed to have together. Ari says that he follows his instincts and promises Andrew that he will have a better life with Ari.
Ari manages to convince Andrew to join his agency, but when he pitches the idea to Barbara, she basically says that Andrew is a loser & doesn't fit the image of a top notch premium agency.
