Goofs

There is conflicting information in regards to the location of Eagleton. In season two, Leslie (Amy Poehler) states that Eagleton is "two towns over." However, later on, there is a "Pawnee/Eagleton border," meaning the towns are next to each other, some Pawnee citizens having left and settled Eagleton.

There is an inconsistency as to which TV Station reporter Perd Hapley works for when doing the local news. For much of the series, he is a reporter on Pawnee's NBC affiliate Channel 4. However, in later seasons, he's shown reporting from Channel 46, Pawnee's local cable access station where Joan Calamezzo hosts Pawnee Today. Throughout the last two seasons, Perd Hapley jumps back and forth between reporting from Channels 4 & 46. (Side note: He does host a TV Courtroom show on 46)

There are no Native American reservations in Indiana.

Sadly, most of Indiana's Native American population was deceased prior to the American Civil War. The Pawnee related troubles with its Native population wouldn't have occurred when the program relates to have done so.

Even if Pawnee went bankrupt there would be no precedent for the state to take over the city beyond its finances. Chris Tragaer could certainly direct its financial operations; however only elected officials could run the city and make the legal decisions for it.

In multiple scenes across various episodes, palm trees and mountains are shown in the background.

Indiana's highest point is 1,500 feet above sea level and palm trees only grow in greenhouses there.

Throughout the series, although they often make jokes about how Pawnee has an obesity epidemic, there are very few overweight/obese characters. Even the recurring characters and extras are thin.

A few times over the seasons, cars are shown with front Indiana license plates. Indiana does not require vehicles to have front license plates, only rear ones.

Indianapolis is less than 3 hours traveling time from all of the major cities in the state of Indiana. Since Pawnee is clearly large enough to have a Parks and Recreation department, as well as its own television station, it is clearly a major Indiana city and thus should be closer to the state capital.

In the early seasons of the show, Pawnee Today host Joan Calamezzo mentions being married and having two kids. However, in the later seasons she's divorced, but there's never any mention of her kids again. Even when Ben and Tom drop off a drunken Joan in her home in Season 4, Episode 3 "Born and Raised," all indications are that she lives alone and that there are no children present in her life.
