The release of Prime Video’s TV show Fallout has immediately drawn all the eyes to the original video games series. Og fans dived right back into the familiar world, and new Vaulties donned their Vault suits for the first time — for the past few months, we’ve been witnessing the Fallout Renaissance, and we’re very much down for it.
Most fans assumed that under such circumstances, working on and releasing Fallout 5 would become a priority for Bethesda boss Todd Howard… But he didn’t think so.
Todd Howard Says, There’s No Rush
Bethesda Softworks has held the rights to the Fallout IP since 2007, but the latest singleplayer game was released back in 2015 — almost a decade ago. Fans have long been demanding the next installment, but it seems like even the TV show’s overwhelming success can’t make Todd Howard hurry up for the gaming culture.

Colin Farrell has had a stellar few years, turning in exquisite performance after exquisite performance in a variety of projects from deadpan comedy movies such as “The Lobster” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” to a transformative turn in the superhero flick “The Batman.”
Farrell has delivered another enigmatic performance with the Apple TV+ detective series “Sugar.” In this neo-noir drama, Farrell plays private investigator John Sugar, who delves into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the granddaughter of a famous Hollywood producer. Farrell is as magnetic as ever in, wielding his natural charisma and captivating screen presence with ease while also sowing in the sort of sad, lamentable quality that he displayed in “The Banshees of Inisherin,” a film that earned him his first Oscar nomination (for Best Actor). Critics have applauded Farrell for his turn in “Sugar.”

Unfulfilled Potential: A Missed Opportunity for Fallout and Call of Duty
When players first heard about the Fallout collaboration with Call of Duty Warzone, their imagination ran wild. Players were speculating that the Verdansk map might become a wasteland and new, bizarre, but innovative weapons from the post-apocalyptic world would be adopted.

Jonathan Nolan, the director of the Fallout series, was also a part of The Dark Knight Rises as a co-writer with Christopher Nolan. Jonathan Nolan was playing a lot of Fallout 3 during the writing of The Dark Knight Rises. He reflected on the possible reasons that might have affected his approach to writing The Dark Knight Rises, on some subconscious level.
Jonathan Nolan | IMDb
Jonathan Nolan was introduced to the world of Fallout through the third game in the series, Fallout 3, and he fell in love with it. He was intrigued and fascinated by what it would feel like after the world he had known all his life ceased to exist to give birth to a new era. His contemplation in spirit led to a delay in making The Dark Knight Rises.

Sean Bean, the well-known actor for his work in Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings has starred in many other projects across entertainment. From Robot Chicken to Hitman 2, he’s more than Ned Stark or Boromir. Recently, a former Firaxis Games developer recalled his favorite piece of trivia.
Bean voiced a character in Xcom 2 as a favor while recording for Civ 6. The dev calls him a “stand-up guy” for voicing the character who ends up dying in the same cutscene. The actor just can’t get away from death in these roles.
Sean Bean’s Secret Role in Xcom 2 Yes, his character dies too.
Jake Solomon revealed this bit of trivia on his time at Firaxis Games. While working on the expansion for Xcom 2, War of the Chosen, the team asked Bean to voice a character for the intro cinematic.

Wherever I go, when I tell people that I work as an editor for Gold Derby, they never fail to bring up their latest binge-fest and how obsessed they were with it. “Ripley” occupied that space for several weeks, replaced by “Baby Reindeer,” then “Fellow Travelers.” Before that, I ran into a bunch of “Lessons in Chemistry” fans, and friends who were absolutely obsessed with “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.” “Fargo: Season 5” and “True Detective: Night Country” also had, and continue to have, legions of followers. And of course, “Shogun” consumed people for a good long while.
The point is that Best Limited Series has grown the past few years into the hottest and most prestigious Emmy category, and that’s especially true in 2024 with the depletion of the Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series due to the 2023 strikes and the departure of shows like “Succession” and “Ted Lasso.

While all the GTA VI memes float around, gamers seem to forget that there also exists Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a game that has been patiently waiting for its successor, a title that has been confirmed but is yet to receive an official release date from the studio.
An in-game screenshot from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It also seems to be true that Bethesda used up all of its luck while launching Skyrim. Despite there being not much post-release support provided for the title after its launch in 2011, it performed splendidly well within the industry, effectively managing to become an icon of a game, as time went on.

Fallout is gaining more traction after the recent success of the live-action show on Amazon Prime Video and the franchise being featured in other major live-service games. The franchise has been adapted well and more players are being introduced to the beloved series.

In the ruthless and messed up world of Fallout, Lucy MacLean was our silver — golden, even — lining throughout Season 1. Always hopeful, kind, and naive, Lucy was pretty much the only person in the Wasteland who believed in treating people equally and keeping up the good vibes, but even she didn’t last too long like that.
One traumatizing event after another, it all culminated with Lucy mercy-killing her own ghoulified mother after finally learning the truth about her treacherous father. It’s bound to change a person, even as wholesome as her, and not in a positive way.

There’s no doubt that there’s nothing quite like Bethesda’s titles when it comes to the RPG genre. The developer brings players experience that keeps them engaged for years, and in some cases, like Skyrim, for well over a decade.

Netflix’s Emea chief has described his Los Gatos overlords as “very hands off” when it comes to content strategy outside the U.S.
Speaking to journalists at a Netflix site tour in Spain, Larry Tanz said the days when Money Heist creator Álex Pina had to “literally fly to LA to pitch a show so that he could make it in Spain” are long gone, as he talked up the streamer’s latest wave of local content.
Instead, creatives are now pitching shows in Spanish to local content chief Diego Ávalos, explained Tanz, “and that’s true in [territories like] Germany and Italy.”
“Creators used to have to figure out a way to break into Hollywood just so they could realize their creative vision,” said Tanz, who was speaking a day after Netflix opened an office around the corner from its Tres Cantos studio in Madrid. “Some companies still operate that...

Will Smith is going from the success of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die to a new sci-fi film called Resistor: more here.

[This story contains spoilers from Fallout and Yellowjackets.]
As Ella Purnell was in the middle of shooting her future hit series Fallout, she found herself pining away for the circle of friends she had formed by way of her previous hit series, Yellowjackets. The English actor had joined the Showtime series knowing full well that her starring role as Jackie Taylor, the captain of the Yellowjackets soccer team, would conclude with her dramatic death in the season one finale. But as Purnell bonded more and more with her fellow Yellowjackets actors, her one-season role, initially a selling point, became less appealing. So she tried to reverse course and prolong her stay in the inhospitable wilderness where the desperate teenage characters have to resort to cannibalism as a means of survival.
“I was like, ‘It’s only a one-year deal. I’m not locked into a seven-year contract.’ So, at the time, that seemed really appealing.

Last Thursday marked the beginning of the annual 11-day period during which members of the TV academy cast their ballots for the Primetime Emmy nominations. Since there are fewer candidates in practically every category compared to last year, there are also fewer nomination slots up for grabs. Indeed, performers eligible for half of the 16 main acting awards must now fight harder to officially compete for them.

Prime Video’s Fallout turned out to be unique in many regards, but one thing specifically catches attention: none of the show’s lead stars had played the Fallout games before acting in the adaptation. Despite that, they delivered compelling and unique performances that were on-point for the ruthless and bizarre world of the American Wasteland. Walton Goggins, in particular, spectacularly outdid himself!
Walton Goggins Didn’t Care for Fallout Lore
When he was invited to the interview with Jonathan Nolan, the Fallout writer, and even after he was already on board, Walton Goggins decided against playing the Fallout video games. He claims it was his “conscious decision” as he wanted to experience everything first-hand, without the pressure of the franchise’s sheer size and fan expectations weighing down on him.
But Goggins’ unfamiliarity with the Wasteland didn’t prevent him from crafting and portraying the most memorable and unique...

Before “Shōgun” entered the Outstanding Drama Series race, there was not a demonstrable Emmy frontrunner. Sure, “The Crown” has won before (netting Netflix its first win in the category), but it seems both critics and viewers fled from the prestige period piece’s farewell season.

Following the overwhelming success of the Fallout series on Prime Video, many fans thought Bethesda would speed up the development of the next main game in the franchise. Unfortunately, this was dismissed in a recent interview with Todd Howard, where he talked about the future of these games and how the company is handling them.
The head of the video game giant said there was no rush to make this fifth installment. He also added that the studio’s structure is divided into several parts, so the game could potentially be developed by an external studio, but it is still quite far from release.
Fallout 5 Seems Farther Away Than Ever Fallout 5 could be farther than fans expected.

The release of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ sparked controversy. Critics praised it highly, ranking it among the best in Star Wars history, but it received one of the lowest audience scores. These divergent ratings suggest bias from both sides.
The show faced review bombing and undeserved critical praise, with Forbes’ Erik Kain highlighting critics’ lack of objectivity. Being a critic now seems to demand liking certain things and disliking others.
Regardless, even before the review bombing (or opposite review boosting) occurred, Kathleen Kennedy was already prepared to address the public perception that there might be issues with the show. She highlighted the challenges women face in Star Wars within toxic, male-dominated spaces and personal attacks. Here’s her full statement:
I think a lot of the women who step into Star Wars struggle with [toxic fandom attacks] a bit more. […] Because of the fan base being so male dominated, they sometimes get attacked...

Whether you’re intimately familiar with the Fallout franchise or are experiencing it for the first time through the Prime Video series, few could have predicted just how much of a lasting impact Walton Goggins’ character, Cooper Howard a.k.a. The Ghoul, would have on the fandom. Not only do many fans agree that the role was brought to life in the way that only Walton Goggins can, but there are a growing number who find this noseless, irradiated mutant to be surprisingly hot.

The release of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was highly controversial, the show was praised by critics and rated as one of the highest-rated shows in the history of Star Wars, but at the same time, it had one of the lowest audience scores. Those weird scores certainly pointed in the direction that bias is going on both sides.
The show was review-bombed as much as it was needlessly praised by critics for things that don’t even make sense, as Forbes’ own Erik Kain pointed out that critics did not approach ‘The Acolyte’ objectively, and it seems that being a critic nowadays requires you to “like the right things” and “dislike the wrong things.”
In any case even before the review-bombing took place (or review-boosting on the opposite side) Kathleen Kennedy was already prepared to talk the public into thinking that something might possibly be wrong with the show. She...

It’s been around nine months since Starfield, Bethesda’s ambitious open-world space RPG, had its monumental release on Xbox and PC. Now, we’re nearing the release of the major Shattered Space Dlc, which adds a new story, areas to explore, weapons, spacesuits, and more.
Usually, Bethesda’s plans for any of its games end after dropping several expansive DLCs like these. However, executive producer Todd Howard makes it clear that this is only the start of a much more extensive plan for the game.

Creating their perfect game is a dream for many game developers, but even the most brilliant minds in the industry have their limits. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the mastermind behind Elden Ring and other FromSoftware classics, recently shared his thoughts on this topic.
Miyazaki, credited with creating the soulslike genre, has always strived for perfection. His latest game, Elden Ring, is a perfect example of his dedication and unmatched creative vision. However, even with the game’s massive success, Miyazaki feels it’s not quite his ideal, perfect game.
The Perfect Game for Elden Ring’s Hidetaka Miyazaki
Hidetaka Miyazaki doesn’t consider Elden Ring to be his perfect, ideal fantasy RPG.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Miyazaki admitted that his ideal fantasy RPG is still a work in progress and might never be fully realized. Despite his remarkable achievements, there’s a crucial element he believes he can never achieve.

In both the gaming and entertainment industries, strategic decisions often involve careful planning, allocation of resources, and achieving objectives. Sony is renowned for its strategic decisions that are aimed at increasing their revenue flow.
Sony might learn from Warhammer + success and create an animated series based on Helldivers 2 | Arrowhead Game Studio
With the success of the Warhammer+ streaming service, derived from its exclusive animated series Angels of Death, based on Warhammer 40k games. Sony now has the opportunity and idea to make more financial gains by creating a Helldivers 2 animated series.
Navigating the Impact of Exclusive Content: Lessons from Warhammer 40k
Helldivers 2 was a major success and has created a massive community that adores the game’s immersive world and cooperative combat mechanics. However, there is a possibility that Sony takes the success of the game a step further and tries to create an animated series, just like the Warhammer 40K franchise.

The Fallout series has always been one of the most innovative and attention-grabbing in the gaming industry. Even since its release in 1997, it has captivated players with its post-apocalyptic wasteland and the difficult choices that often lead to violence.

We’ve been singing songs of praise for Prime Video’s Fallout TV show non-stop lately, much like every other person we know who’s watched the series. There’s a good reason for that: Season 1 was nothing short of spectacular, and fans are already eager to jump right into the next series — which, thankfully, shouldn’t take long to be made, according to the showrunners.
But since Season 2 was greenlit like two days after S1 premiere, it’s the bigger picture everyone’s curious about: just how many Fallout seasons are planned?
Fallout Creators Are Clueless But Ambitious
Questions about future plans are the bane of any successful new series’ showrunners. Fallout’s Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner didn’t get to avoid that fate, either: they are bombarded with questions, especially the ones about the total number of seasons they’re planning. They don’t like those questions.

Walton Goggins has played gunslingers before. He’s been a renegade sheriff in The Hateful Eight, an outlaw on Justified, a Navy Seal on Six and a trigger-happy train robber in Shanghai Noon — but Fallout marks the first time he’s been two versions of one cowboy.
In Prime Video’s adaptation of the popular video game franchise, Goggins portrays Cooper Howard, a Hollywood Western has-been making ends meet as the lasso-spinning entertainment at kids’ parties. He’s also The Ghoul, a radioactive bounty hunter hardened by two centuries of wandering in a post-nuclear hellscape.
Set in 23rd century dystopian L.A. some 220 years after an atomic bomb decimated the U.S., the first season follows Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), an intrepid vault dweller who leaves her underground community in search of her kidnapped father (Kyle MacLachlan). The Annecy Animation Film Festival is a place of wonder and discovery. It's an event where you can catch the premiere of the latest "Despicable Me" movie and the return of the Looney Tunes to the big screen, but you can also enjoy teases for the next big thing in studio animation (like Chris Sanders' "The Wild Robot") and appreciate small independent films from around the world.
It's usually in the latter category that the biggest gems can be uncovered, such as "Flow," the sophomore feature by Gints Zilbalodis. This is a beautiful, poignant movie about a group of animals trying to survive in the wild, told entirely without dialogue and animated in a naturalistic way — with the animals not being anthropomorphized but acting just like animals (echoing the golden era of Disney and movies like "Bambi").

It's usually in the latter category that the biggest gems can be uncovered, such as "Flow," the sophomore feature by Gints Zilbalodis. It’s hard to miss the tendency towards making more game adaptations, and we bet you’ve seen at least one of them. These include such hits as Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), Uncharted (2022) and, of course, The Last of Us (2023) and this year’s Fallout series.
Last Halloween we saw an adaptation that stood out because of its lasting production and the eventual result being extremely controversial. However, it didn’t interfere with the film’s success at all, and now it’s holding the fourth place on HBO’s global chart.
Its plot revolves around Mike, a security guard in his mid-life crisis, who takes a job at a local pizzeria. During his first night shift he is quick to realize that the place is full of murderous animatronic animals, who become mobile and hostile as the sun goes down.

Time and time again, there is one very brutal lesson that many learn in Hollywood. If a project flops, never blame the audience. While there have been some cases where biases, misunderstandings, and expectations have led to the initial failure of a series, that is something that happens over time.
Many actors take another route, and if a series or film fails, they talk about who is to blame in the interviews that are supposed to be promoting it. Unfortunately, Kathleen Kennedy went down such a path recently, which may have resulted in an even bigger rift between her and Star Wars fans.

With the release of The Acolyte, the world is stunned by the drastic difference in the critics’ ratings and audience scores of the series. Rather than understanding where they went wrong, Kennedy said some very controversial things that are now coming back to haunt her.

For quite some time, there has been a trend in modern media when it comes to how the audience receives new content, how the media reviews this content, how the audience receives it, and how the media/studio reacts to it. The pattern goes like this:

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over six years since Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls 6, the highly anticipated sequel to Skyrim. Crafting a sequel to one of the best-selling video game titles of all time is clearly no easy task, and Bethesda doesn’t look to be in a rush.

Fallout 76 had taken a back seat in the years following its release, with Bethesda focusing more on Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI. The game’s popularity was reignited with the release of the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime, which was well-received by the audience.

Science fiction is one of the most beloved genres for many reasons – mainly because there’s so much you can tell in a sci-fi movie that one cannot resist. Writers and directors can tackle literally any topic and twist it any way they like to create something new.
One of the most popular premises, however, is dystopian future in all of its forms, and it's a pity that only a few of them all become popular among the masses, while many gems remain underrated and hidden.
So here we have 5 underrated dystopian movies that you must watch if you are a fan of the genre.
1. These Final Hours (2013)
The movie is set in the “last day on earth,” which definitely adds a lot of drama and tension. We follow a young narcissistic man attending a party before the end of the world, but suddenly see him becoming a better person...

The post-apocalyptic survival genre of games is a classic in the gaming industry. And the Fallout series is the biggest example of players being thrust into retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic America. With the classic goal of exploring a world filled with mutants, ghouls, and remnants of human civilization.
In 2018, Fallout 76 went outside the traditional Fallout format with its online multiplayer component. Todd Howard, Bethesda’s director and executive producer made some things clear then. He didn’t want Fallout 76 pigeonholed as a survival like DayZ or Rust just because of its multiplayer mode.

The TV years are just flying by at this point. For some of us, it feels like only yesterday we were watching Succession take home precisely every award at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. For others, yesterday might as well have been the airing of the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones. And for some incomprehensibly ancient creatures, we … I mean they fondly recall watching the Lost finale in their college dorm. The point is that things move fast on television. If you don’t slow down for a minute, you might miss all of it.
So let’s slow down to appreciate the best TV has had to offer in 2024 so far. From stunning new miniseries dramas like FX’s Shōgun to unexpected animated delights like Disney+’s X-Men ‘97 to reliable comedies like Max’s Hacks, there was plenty to love this year. To be eligible, a show...

Prime Video’s Fallout had an amazing Season 1 and did something the original games never could: used flashbacks into the pre-war world for context. Granted that they were all Cooper’s, they gave us quite the backdrop, but while some fans thought they’d end in Season 2, they were wrong. Very, very wrong — and naive.
In fact, if you thought Fallout S2 would be set in New Vegas, you were wrong, too. Apparently, it will be set in pre-war flashbacks — and only then, in New Vegas.
Fallout Season 2 Will Explore the Past More
Showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner recently sat down with The Wrap to discuss all things Fallout — but primarily, of course, Season 2. There are many questions fans want answered, and the show’s creators did their best to address them. The flashback mechanic was one of the topics discussed.

Prime Video’s Fallout had an amazing team and a great vision, but that’s not always enough. In this case, though, it was, and the show blew up, attracting both Og Fallout fans and new Vaulties who had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Immediately upon Season 1’s release, the Internet began swarming with fan theories and speculations… And some of them have already been confirmed!
What’s the Most Popular Fallout Fan Theory?
While this might have gone over new fans’ heads at first, Fallout veterans quickly caught up to what Nolan did in Season 1. The four protagonists were not created in a random creative rush or to move the plot along: they represent something every Fallout player that has ever set foot on the Internet was long familiar with.

In post-apocalyptic gaming, few titles hold as much sway as Bethesda’s Fallout series. When Todd Howard sets his mind on a game, the world knows to pay attention. As the VP of development at Bethesda Games Studios, he has been the driving force behind some of the industry’s most beloved open-world franchises.
With Fallout 4, Howard and his team took a step back from the previous installments and reimagined the Fallout universe, not as an addition to Fallout 3 but as a fresh start.

Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! Emmy voting is happening right now and we’re here to continue the conversation we started Thursday about the 2024 ballots — this time focused exclusively on the drama categories. No big surprises here, unless you count Alexander Skarsgard not being submitted for guest actor on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” a “big surprise,” but this year’s submissions helped clarify that the race is really simply a battle between three shows with one huge frontrunner well ahead. Todd Howard is one of the most iconic figures in the world of gaming. As the face of Bethesda Studios, he has received credit for successful releases such as Fallout 3 and Skyrim, which are remembered as monumental successes.
There have been numerous discussions over the recent past about his legacy as some fans argue that he hasn’t produced a standout game in a while. This isn’t entirely false as Bethesda’s recent releases of Fallout 4 and Starfield have been somewhat… lacking.
