An implausible rescue yarn on the giant planet
Commander Corry (Ed Kemmer) and space-cadet Happy (Lyn Osborn) have to rescue Carol (Virginia Hewitt) and Tonga (Nina Bara) who are running out of oxygen after their rocket-ship crashes into a freezing Jovian lake. This is a moderately entertaining early episode of the venerable space-show that focuses on a practical challenge rather than on an enemy per se. The science, especially pertaining to water pressure and 'the bends', is sketchy and the two women trapped under the ice aren't given much to do other than look worried or panicky but otherwise the episode is watchable. Considering the budget, the special effects are cleverly done. Someone did their homework: a Jovian day is about 10 hours (but I doubt that anyone from Earth would be frolicking by a lake on the giant planet - freezing would be the least of their worries).
