- A high priced call girl that is killing her clients must be found and stopped.
- Corporate executives are being murdered in Dallas, Texas. The authorities are reluctant to publicize the spate of murders due to the sensitive nature of the deaths: they know that those murdered were regularly using the services of high priced call girls, one of those call girls probably being the sole murderer. Corporate lawyers are also reluctant to provide any information on either those deceased, or of any others they know in a similar situation within any of the businesses they represent. The BAU have to find a way to get the businesses and their lawyers to cooperate as well as get into the psyche of both high priced call girls and their wealthy executive johns. The BAU starts off at a disadvantage as the killer already know who Hotch is and that he is on the case.—Huggo
- We start with bra and panties. A woman wearing the fetching ensemble (as well as a cowboy hat) walks seductively toward a man of obvious means. The grinning "John" takes a sip of champagne and falls to the floor of the hotel suite. He stops moving. Forever. Cut to Hotch, who gets a phone call from Patrick Jackson, "attorney general down in Texas." Seconds later, Hotch touches down in Dallas.
We learn that the victim was a wealthy "hedge fund manager" poisoned by the unsub, who is most likely a high-priced call girl. "We think it's the second," Jackson says. Hotch insists on calling the rest of the BAU down south to investigate. Jackson agrees, but urges caution: "You poke around this type of woman, this type of lifestyle, people get edgy." In other words, the BAU can only take the case if Hotch promises not to get any "big fish" caught in the net. No judges, senators, etc. can be mentioned in connection to a call girl.
The team takes a ride on the jet while Hotch, via cell phone, reveals what little he knows: "She walks in with the intent to kill them and she's doing it before she sleeps with them." Our femme fatale, in the meantime, is busy doing research on Hotch, whom she spotted at the Dallas hotel. But why? No time for that now. Hotch meets with a "risk-management consultant" who wrote bogus press releases for the two victims (claiming that each man died "peacefully" at home). Ellen Daniels explains that her clients -- all powerful men in high positions -- will NOT be giving up names of high-prices hookers for the team to question. However, she does hand Hotch the card of a local realtor. "Do you want to buy a house?" she asks.
Hotch doesn't -- but that wasn't the point. The woman on the card is named Lauren, who is soon paid a visit by Emily and Spencer. "We know about this woman," the realtor/ madam says. "She's terrible for business." Lauren explains that a typical John doesn't want sex so much as a therapist. "So it's not how these men act in bed," Spencer says. "It's how they act out of bed." Bingo, kid. So what did the two vics have in common?
Garcia quickly discovers a pattern: each victim had multiple ex wives. Each was also stiffing those women on alimony payments. Perhaps that pattern of behavior "triggered" something in the unsub. Hotch suggests presenting the profile to the corporate lawyers who have been "circling the wagons" to protect their clients. Why? "They've seen this woman," he says. "She's putting them at risk too."
Cut to a roomful of corporate lawyers. Emily gives the pitch: "She probably did not grow up with a father figure and she is now turning that rage toward clients that walk out on their families." A lawyer named Allison Barnes reveals that one of the victims had a private penthouse downtown. "Is that the kind of information you're looking for?" the woman asks. Uh, YEAH! Cut to said penthouse, where Emily discovers a small ring among the piles of high-end jewelry. "It's way too small to be an adult's," Derek observes. "She probably kept it from her childhood." Emily theorizes that it's a "purity ring." Hmm.
Suddenly, the phone rings. The team lets the machine pick up while Garcia establishes a trace. "Aaron, I know you're there," the voice says. "Aaron Hotchner." It's the unsub! Another client has tipped her off about the FBI locating the penthouse! Hotch picks up the phone. The unsub explains that she is disappointed in Hotch for agreeing to protect the names of the rich, powerful and cheating men. "You're just another whore," she tells our Hotch. "You do their bidding!" Then BLAM! Another victim has been shot while the BAU listens.
Interestingly, the latest vic doesn't fit the profile. His wife died of ovarian cancer months ago. Nor was the corporate bigwig an alimony delinquent. "She's devolving," Derek says. In other words, the woman is now willing to kill anyone. The team must work fast. Emily remembers something Lauren said: the client list is a hooker's 401k. She sells it when she retires. So, who recently retired and sold a list to the killer?
Hotch and Rossi ask that same question to Ellen Daniels, who gives up a name: Katherine. Cut to Derek and Emily, who knock on Katherine's front door. "We're not interested in you," Emily explains to the woman. "We're looking for the woman who bought your list." Now it's Katherine's turn to give up a name: Megan Kane. But it gets even better: one of Katherine's former clients was Megan's father, Andrew Kane. Naturally, Andrew Kane left his wife after being with Katherine. Hotch immediately arranges an interview with Andrew, who refuses to believe that Megan is the killer. "She kept the purity ring you bought for her," Hotch explains. Ouch. Daddy is hurt by that one. "When you cut off your ex wife, you cut off Megan too," Hotch explains.
Andrew Kane refuses to cooperate. Hotch puts a tail on the bigwig, who promptly rents a room at a nearby hotel. It's clear that the man is going to confront his call-girl daughter. Unfortunately, Andrew Kane is also rather smart. He sends Ellen Daniels to the rented hotel room before going somewhere else to meet Megan. But where? "He could be anywhere," Hotch says. Ellen points them toward a different hotel her client favored. So much for attorney-client privilege.
The BAU team arrives at the hotel -- but it's too late. Daddy has come and gone after taking Megan's PDA. He cares less about his daughter than the super-sensative client list kept in the device (of which he is one). Hotch finds Megan sitting alone in the hotel room. An empty glass of champagne sits nearby. The woman has poisoned herself. But wait! She hands Hotch a microchip containing all the information on the PDA. Turns out daddy didn't get the info after all. Hotch promises to make all the names on the client list public. "You're the first man I've ever met that didn't let me down," she tells Hotch. She dies holding his hand.
