Guy Fieri, host of NBC's "Minute to Win It," knows all about timing.
After all, the boisterous bleached blond chef not only has to watch the clock in the kitchen, but was just beginning to hit his groove after winning "The Next Food Network Star" when he was pitched the "Minute to Win It" hosting gig.
"My agent came back two years ago from a meeting in France and said, 'I met a guy, a producer who's going to produce a show, and you're going to be the host of it,'" Fieri tells Zap2it in a phone interview. "Game show host? I don't know. To me, that's Wink Martindale and Chuck Woolery. But I love a good game show."
"Minute to Win It" challenges everyday people to accomplish tasks using household objects in a minute or less. They can win $1 million if they finish 10 of these tasks on the show.

Guy Fieri is one of those Food Network hosts that a lot of people dislike. I think it's the wild hair or the shorts he wears or the constant use of words like "awesome" and "dude," but he seems to be one of these people that Food Network fans either love or hate.
I don't dislike Fieri. I don't really get the hair and the clothes, but I really love two of the (many) shows he hosts, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Ultimate Recipe Showdown (when is that coming back, by the way?).
Now he's about to host another show, and it's not a food show and it's not even on Food Network. Fieri will host Perfect 10, a new game show on NBC.

Food Network Star Guy Fieri is a hip, magnanimous and larger than life character that torments us all with delicious road trips across the United States, diving into diners, dropping by cool dives as we find out where the good eats are, city by city. Fieri (host of Guy's Big Bite; Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives; Ultimate Recipe Showdown; and Guy Off the Hook) is featured in the 20Q in Playboy.s January/February issue. Fieri's appeal is simple: He's no snob, celebrating the common man's uncommonly good and affordable food, found all over this big country. Want to know where to find kick-ass Mexican food in Chicago? The best fried clam shack in the greater Boston area? Or maybe...

It has gotten to the point where I really don't care what the hell Anthony Bourdain cares about anything. I liked Kitchen Confidential (the book, not the TV show) and some of his other writing, but this need to speak out on anything and everything in the food world he finds lame or disgusting or "evil" has gotten old. Now he (and chef David Chang) is speaking out on other things he can't stand, and one of them is Food Network host Guy Fieri.
Personally, I wouldn't bleach my hair and wear those shorts, but come on, is it really worth bad mouthing his hosting and cooking? I love Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Ultimate Recipe Showdown!
Update: it's actually Chang who made the remarks, but Bourdain doesn't like Fieri either.
