This episode begins when a WAC Corporal comes staggering into McHale's camp wanting to see a soldier named Clancy. It seems that the WAC officer, Sally Murdock, is stationed about fifty miles from McHale's tents and has went AWOL just to see her sweetheart, Clancy, before her unit is shipped out. McHale reluctantly agrees to help the woman find her sweetheart.
Sgt. Clancy is a driver for Colonel Harrigan. So McHale asks Harrigan to come to his base and give a lecture. But at the lecture Binghamton is spying around the camp and notices the female in the bushes. He thinks the female is a German agent and arrests her. McHale still does not give up. With Sally under arrest, he is still bound to help her before Binghamton finds out that she is AWOL. Even if it means Parker has to dress up like a WAC to get the job done.
This actually turned out to be a nice episode. When the writers had Parker dress up like a female, this is usually the time the story takes a left turn. But to my surprise, Tim Conway did not go overboard in the character and it made for a more satisfying show. Was happy to see this story turn out so well. Good watch.
