Showrunner Ryan Murphy has a type when it comes to casting, and that type is guys who look like Superman. It's no surprise, then, that the new Superman will be played by David Corenswet, alum of Murphy's shows "Hollywood" and "The Politician." Yet Corenswet isn't the first Murphy favorite to come close to the role of Clark Kent. In the mid-2000s, Matt Bomer had a three-picture deal with Warner Bros. to be the new Man of Steel.
Speaking on the Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Bomer was asked by host Scott Feinberg whether he could confirm or correct a rumor that he left the soap opera "Guiding Light" because of an opportunity for a certain major movie role. Bomer replied that this was "partly right," elaborating:
"Basically I went in on a cattle call [audition] for Superman, and then it turned into a four-month audition experience where I was...

“Feud: Bette and Joan” took the Emmys by storm in 2017, with the first season of the Ryan Murphy anthology show receiving rave reviews for its depiction of the rivalry between actresses Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) and Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange).
Season two will hope to match that Emmy success (more on that later) with its portrayal of Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) and his falling out with a group of New York high society socialites known as the Swans. Capote wrote a fictionalized account of the Swans’ dramatic lives, leading to the Swans vowing revenge for betraying their confidence.
The glossy show is typically gorgeous, scandalous, and theatrical while the performances are all top-drawer. Hollander dazzles in the lead role as Capote, which is no mean feat considering the late, great Philip Seymour-Hoffman won the Best Actor Oscar for his turn as Capote in 2005’s “Capote”). Meanwhile, Naomi Watts, Diane Lane,...

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since Lisa Rinna announced her stunning exit from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She was one of the long-running series’ primary pot-stirrers, so there was always that worry the show wouldn’t have the same level of drama without her.
The good news? Rhobh is less toxic than it’s been for years.
The bad news? It’s also one of the most boring seasons in years.
But the show seems like a distant memory for Rinna, who doesn’t seem to have much of a connection with her former co-stars.
The actress and model has been keeping busy since her eight-season run on the Bravo hit concluded.

FX CEO John Landgraf celebrated his 20th year at the now Disney-owned network Friday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour by saying “adios” to Peak TV.
The executive, who famously coined the phrase back in 2015 to represent the content boom, announced that U.S. scripted originals tumbled 14 percent year-over-year (from 600 to 512) in 2023 and the industry has now entered its “Peaked TV” era.
“I was finally correct,” he quipped after two previously incorrect estimates for when the Peak TV era would officially conclude. The executive, who famously coined the phrase back in 2015 to represent the content boom, announced that U.S. scripted originals tumbled 14 percent year-over-year (from 600 to 512) in 2023 and the industry has now entered its “Peaked TV” era.

He said that last year’s dual Hollywood strikes “undoubtedly played a role,” but the decline in the volume of scripted series was “likely under way” before labor actions by writers and actors brought production to a standstill.

After starring in Season 12 of “American Horror Story,” Kim Kardashian is making more moves as an actress. She will continue to work with “AHS” co-creator Ryan Murphy, this time in a procedural.
The legal drama has been given a series commitment at Hulu — which also airs reality series “The Kardashians” — and will see Kardashian play a successful divorce lawyer who leads an all-female law firm in Los Angeles. With the news of Matthew Perry’s death in late October, viewers seemingly turned to his best-known role as Chandler Bing on Friends to remember him.
The beloved comedy gathered 583 million minutes of viewing on Max for the week of Oct. 23-29 (Perry, 54, was found dead at his home on Oct. 28). That was a 31 percent gain over the previous week and the biggest total watch time for Friends since early February.
A pair of movies, No Hard Feelings and Five Nights at Freddy’s, also made strong showings on the Nielsen streaming charts for the week. The former, starring Jennifer Lawrence, led the rankings with 1.13 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix in the United States — the equivalent of about 10.97 full showings of the movie. That’s two thirds of the worldwide total Netflix reported in its own rankings for the week.

Reid Scott, best known for playing Dan Egan in the HBO political comedy series Veep, will be joining Season 23 of Law & Order in a series regular role. As reported by Variety, Scott will be portraying a NYPD detective in the upcoming season, though further details on his character, including a name, are currently being kept under wraps. While best known for his role in Veep, in which he starred across the show’s seven-season run, Scott has also appeared in the likes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Afterparty, American Horror Stories, Black-ish, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the latter of which he played Gordon Ford across two seasons. A new NYPD detective will be joining the force on the upcoming 23rd season of Law & Order. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Veep alum Reid Scott has joined the upcoming season as a new series regular on the NBC police procedural, portraying an as-yet unamed NYPD detective.
Scott will feel the void left by former series regular Jeffrey Donovan, who recently exited the show over creative differences. Donovan portrayed Det. Frank Cosgrove in seasons 21 and 22 of the mothership Law & Order drama from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment.
This marks the second detective change on the revival. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Det. Kevin Bernard from the series’ original run, left after Season 21 and was succeeded by Mehcad Brooks, who joined the cast in Season 22 as Frank’s new partner Jalen Shaw.
The Law & Order cast also includes Sam Waterston as Da Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nolan Price, and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.
Law & Order, which premieres its 23rd season on January 18, 2024, is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Scott recently starred in the fifth and final season of Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after recurring in Season 4. He can currently be seen starring in the “Daphne” episode of FX anthology series American Horror Stories. He earlier starred on another Emmy-winning comedy, HBO’s Veep, for seven seasons. Scott just wrapped production on the Amazon film Idea of You, starring opposite Anne Hathaway and directed by Michael Showalter. Reid also stars in, and executive produced the pandemic comedy Who Invited Charlie? opposite Adam Palley and Jordana Brewster, as well as the comedy ensemble Wildflower. Scott is repped by Gersh, Impression Entertainment and Ggssc.

Opening credits never really went away (think of the slow-mo demolition of “The Good Fight”), but they are definitely having a moment.
“I really love title sequences,” “Chucky” showrunner Don Mancini told IndieWire. “ I lament the loss of titles. I just love the ritualistic value of them.”
When correctly deployed, opening credit sequences can do some heavy lifting for TV shows. The best title credit sequences set the tone for the show, hint at what’s to come, and, depending on when they’re used, underscore what just happened in the cold open. But in the wake of streaming upheavals and changes to how we consume content, they’ve been missing more and more. Or skipped more and more, depending on the options of a given platform.

Outside of recent voice roles on “American Horror Stories” and “She Said,” Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow has not acted on camera in a few years. Her last film was in 2019 courtesy of “Avengers: Endgame,” in which she reprised her fan favorite Marvel role of Pepper Potts, while she also appeared in the Netflix series “The Politician,” which dropped its second season in June 2020.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Paltrow suggested that she currently has no plans to get back in front of the camera as an actor given all of her business responsibilities with Goop. However, there is one A-list actor she thinks could end her current acting hiatus. That would be Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr.
“Well, it would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job,” Paltrow said. “But, I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back.

Just when she thought she was out, someone could pull her back in…maybe. Gwyneth Paltrow revealed during a recent Entertainment Tonight interview (via Entertainment Weekly) that, while she’s not keen on returning to screens any time soon, there’s one A-lister who could convince the Goop CEO and Oscar winner to act again: her pal Robert Downey Jr.
“It would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job,” said Paltrow, who’s plenty busy launching a more accessible fleet of her A-class Goop products at Target and Amazon. “But, I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back.”
She added, laughing, “You know, to some degree.”
Paltrow has already said she’s long done with Marvel and playing “Iron Man” favorite Pepper Potts, revealing on the “Goop Podcast” when asked by Scarlett Johansson if she was finished with the franchise,...

Tapeworm is the most disturbing episode of American Horror Stories Season 3. While the first two episodes focus on tech-related horrors, episode 3 is about the modern-day hunger to be the best. This episode is definitely horrifying, to say the least. It marries disgust, fear, and anxiety with beauty, with a shocking ending that will scar you for life. This episode focuses on the fashion industry and how far models can go to achieve the perfect beauty standards of said industry. While on the outside, it seems things may have changed, it’s still a difficult cutthroat industry to crack, and people will go to any lengths to make it. Vivian’s story is the same: she’s desperate to show the world that, despite her medical situation, she can be a supermodel.

If M3GAN was a Black Mirror episode, then this American Horror Stories episode would be it. The evil AI story that we’ve seen too many times now returns with no originality. Even Gweneth Paltrow’s voice couldn’t save this episode from being uninteresting, but to be fair, it is somewhat entertaining in bits. It’s also not as frightening because Black Mirror does technophobia so well. On the other hand, if there had been an interesting take like Japan’s obsession with the genre back in the early 2000s, American Horror Stories Episode 2 may have been great TV. The acting and directing are good enough for what the script has to offer, but really, we’re tired of seeing this story, and it’s clearly not making us feel any different about AI.
