GOING HOME is a nice inspirational film that is probably a great film for kids. While I was able to guess the surprise twist rather easily, the production values were so good that it didn't seriously harm the film. Excellent and realistic acting by teens, a nice musical score and nice slow direction made this short a standout.

A nerdy kid (Josh) with few friends is walking through the woods on his way home. When another kid (Derek) comes upon him, Josh throws down his backpack and tells the other kid to just steal it--he knows this is why he's there. However, Derek isn't there to bully him and they begin to talk. Years earlier, Josh had been bullied by Derek and Derek quickly apologized for this. They get to talking and walk home together--just chatting at first. However, the more they talk, the more troubled Josh appears. So, Derek gives him some inspirational messages and they become friends. At the very end, when Josh arrives home, he learns the truth.

As I said above, the surprise twist wasn't that shocking and I doubt if it will be for you as well, but this isn't to say it's a bad film at all. In fact, it's well made and an excellent non-preachy film for teens.
