pretty bad...
GuineaPig11 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
A girl is kidnapped by a mime and appears chained in a sewer full of demons who are making a sacrificial ritual... and that's about it. I guess the name is a reference to Dante's ninth circle but I don't see any similarities or further references except for the name.

If the objective of this was to be scary it failed miserably. All the creatures looked like children's Halloween costumes and there's absolutely no effective tension build-up for the final scenes. This is simply one the worst shorts I've ever seen. I gave it a 2 just because of some nice cinematography but still it somehow feels like too high for this.

Brilliant and Terrifying!
belladonna148225 January 2020
This short film is, in my opinion, the best of the All Hallows Eve trio. I prefer older horror films and find most of the recent ones boring or repetitive. This was refreshing. It actually scared the hell out of me upon my first watch! Since then, I've become a big fan of Damien Leone and Art the clown. Many folks prefer the newer full length film, Terrifier. It's also a brilliant film but my heart belongs to the first film and, particularly, this short film that kicks it all off.

Amazing Short!

As an avid horror movie fan, this is one of the greatest horror shorts that I have ever seen by far. I was able to see this movie at the BackSeat Film Festival in Philadelphia. Not knowing much about the experience of the director of The 9th Circle, he seems to have an extraordinary talent at what he does and I hope to be seeing other films from him in the future. Supposedly, he even did all the make up effects which is really cool.

The beginning scene would definitely put viewers on edge as it did to me when I watched it. It was indeed nerve racking when the clown appears to the girl. It makes you think: is it psychological? is this really happening? Scary thought. Clowns have never bothered me before, but now, I'll be having nightmares about that clown for awhile.

The end of the film gets pretty disturbing. There is a scene that is quite unexpected. It is jaw dropping, shocking, incredible, can't believe it's in a movie type of scene. All in all a real treat for horror fans.

Twisted Mind
bigkua12 April 2008
The 9th circle by Damien Leone is a twisted adaption of Dante's Inferno, where an innocent girl gets caught off guard and knocked unconscious by a demented clown. She awakens to find herself in a hellish (or Hell?) situation, where she is to serve as Satan's sacrifice. Demonic creatures approach her, before she escapes for the time being, only to be caught again. Why she is picked is unknown, but that's what makes it so disturbing,it's a nightmare that all women have in today's times where this sort of thing can happen to anyone. Filmed on location in the bowels of a Staten Island insane asylum, this horror short is scary, weird and disturbing. Cinematographer Tom Agnello shines as well. A must see for fans of fatalistic vis

ALL elements of disturbing horror in a 10 minute film!
imisanthropeofficial25 January 2016
This was genuinely creepy as Hell! Absolutely loved it! It has practically all disturbing horror images and elements wrapped up into about 10 minutes, which is not bad at all for a $3000 budget and perfect filming locations. Cults, demons, crazy but realistic-looking creatures, subterranean madness, and a menacing pagliacci clown! I cannot wait to see more of Art the Clown - I hear the director has been trying to get a full-length feature with just him. If you want to see a great film by Damien Leone featuring Art the Clown, watch his 2011 short film Terrifier (both of these short films are featured in All Hallow's Eve).

Warning: Spoilers
At only 15 minutes long The 9th Circle will creep you out, scare you, keep you in suspense, and show you disturbing things of horror that you won't forget.

Remarkable story and pacing for such a short movie. It will ease you into a nightmare of hell! Great costume design, effects, music, and acting. I can see this short movie giving people nightmares.

10/10 for what it is.

Incredible

This was Damien Leone's first film and I absolutely love the 9th circle, it's also art the clowns first appearance in a film and wow what can I say, he definitely had the best scene, I love all the hell demon's and creatures in this too, after the 9th circle Damien Leone didn't end up sticking with the whole hell and creatures aspect instead just went on with art the clown! In the films Terrifier 2011 short, All Hallows Eve 2013 Mike Giannelli did such a great performance as art (my personal favourite) then in 2016 Terrifier to present, David Howard Thornton does a great job as art the clown but I like Mike's performance more.
