There's no combination of artifice and real danger quite like the stunt. It's purposefully over-the-top, but unless it has a certain amount of reality in it, it doesn't hold the audience's imagination or attention. Wow, I’m not really sure how to take this news right now. Fede Alvarez and his writing partner Rodo Sayagues were the geniuses who rebooted Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead to a pretty positive reception (I personally loved the film), with Fede’s chaotic vision driving this bloody, violent, balls-to-the-wall horror extravaganza. Not only that, but Fede has been teasing all these crazy ideas on where the franchise can go, from doing multiple sequels to having a new world/old world meet-up between Ashley “Ash” Williams and Mia – tying together both Alvarez’s and Raimi’s franchises. We know Fede has other projects going on, but he still seemed awfully excited to get Evil Dead 2 going – especially with Army Of Darkness 2 being confirmed.
Well, it looks like if any of the above teasers are going to happen, they’re going to happen without Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues.

Taking care of some endorsement responsibilities, LeBron James showed up on location in Miami Beach for a Nike commercial today (August 16).
The NBA champion hopped on a bicycle and rode around the iconic Ocean Drive area with a few other riders while the cameras rolled.
During his recent chat with Robin Roberts, LeBron confessed that way back in 8th grade he figured he’d play pro basketball someday.
It all started with a near-victory at the final championship game at the 1997 Wide World of Sports tournament. “I was like, okay, I got a little something going here. Maybe I can make my dream can become a reality. Let’s just stay focused.”
King James also credits his involvement in basketball with helping him mature. “It helped me tremendously, being an athlete and being around basketball. It helped mold me to who I am today -the friendships and the brotherhood that it created.

“The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat” may be the slogan for ABC’s defunct Wide World of Sports, but rarely has it been as apt as on the third day of NBC’s Olympic primetime coverage. The U.S. pulled in some major hardware in the swimming pool — though Ryan Lochte faltered for the second day in a row, and went home without a medal for the first time at this Olympics. America landed its first medal for men’s diving since 1996 — but diver Tom Daley, Great Britain’s most famous Olympian and one of its best chances for gold,...

Hollywood has long carried an Olympic torch for the Games and their charismatic champions
Before he wore a loincloth as Tarzan and yodeled while swinging across movie screens on a vine, Johnny Weissmuller was an Olympic swimming champ.
The strapping Weissmuller -- 6-foot-5, 190 pounds -- power-splashed his way to five gold medals in the 1924 and ‘28 Olympic Games. Recognizing a marketable hunk when it saw one, Hollywood snapped him up.
"It was like stealing," Weissmuller (1904-1984) once said of his Tarzan career, which included a dozen films between 1932 and ‘48. "There was swimming in it, and I didn't have much to say. How can a guy climb trees, say ‘Me Tarzan, you Jane,’ and make a million?"
I was a sucker for Weismuller’s Tarzan films -- as a kid, I used to watch the scratchy prints that repeatedly aired on Saturday afternoon TV.
In fact,...

Channing Tatum is showing no signs of slowing down ... a trait that should come in handy for his next film. According to THR, 2012's busiest leading man is in talks to play Evil Knievel in a new biopic on the famed stuntman. Tatum would also produce the project, alongside new "Fifty Shades of Grey" producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti.
The untitled film will be based on Life of Evel, Stuart Baker's 2008 book on Knievel. Born Robert Craig Knievel, Evil Knievel rose to fame during the 1960s and was known for his death-defying stunts. Knievel -- who wore a patriotic uniform (complete with cape) -- broke a Guinness record 433 bones during his career, which began to wane in the 1980s. He's perhaps most famous for his famed (and failed) Snake River Canyon jump, or his quote to ABC's "Wide World of Sports," following a crash at Wembley Stadium in England: "I walked in,...

Vegas Week on So You Think You Can Dance always makes me think of the classic intro to ABC’s Wide World of Sports, and Season 9 proved no exception. Indeed, with 181 dancers battling through eight different rounds over four days, two people exiting on stretchers, and only 35 remaining at the end of the two-hour telecast, Jim McKay’s voiceover — “the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, and the human drama of athletic competition” — would’ve fit right in alongside Mary Murphy’s whoops of approval and Adam Shankman’s tears.
Still, if memory serves, I don’t think there...
