Ice Age and Madagascar star Cedric The Entertainer has made his directorial debut with a new movie about a musical martial art.
The actor/comedian, who also appears in the film, directed Kel Mitchell, Kat Graham and comedy pals Tommy Davidson and Rodney Perry in Dance Fu.
He says, "It's about a kid who is a choreographer and he has to avenge his uncle's death and he realises he can't fight unless he hears music, so he has to learn the art of dance fu."...

I like Kel Mitchell, and still firmly believe that this grossly underrated actor is an untapped source of comedic gold. “Good Burger” is seriously funny stuff, and I’m not ashamed to say that I often have it on in the background while I’m doing other things. And while I’m not the biggest Cedric the Entertainer fan on the planet, I will give the big guy’s directorial effort “Dance Fu” a shot simply because it stars Kel Mitchell. In dual roles, no less. How could you possibly go wrong? Before answering that inquiry, one might wish to investigate the embedded trailer. And while you’re watching the clip, pretend that “Black Dynamite” doesn’t exist. It’s better that way. Before you continue, skim through this synopsis: Young dance champion, Chicago Pulaski Jones, seeks fame and fortune in the big city until he gets sidetracked by the...

After a decade in which more black actors won Academy Awards than in the past seventy years combined, 2011 represents a setback: the Oscars failed to nominate a single black artist, and Vanity Fair's influential “Young Hollywood” cover featured a single black performer.
So here at NextMovie, we're gonna celebrate Black History Month by highlighting the hottest, up-and-coming young black actors. These nine-under-30 might not all be household names yet, but we think they represent the next generation of Anthony Mackies, Zoe Saldanas, and Will Smiths (literally).
Gabourey Sidibe
Sidibe's Academy-Award nomination for her debut performance in "Precious" sends her to the top our list. She may be 27, but Sidibe's making a name for herself playing teens on the big screen (she co-stars opposite Zoe Kravitz in the upcoming indie drama "Yelling to the Sky," which premieres at the Berlin Film Fest this month) and on premium cable with the always-amazing...

Like Michael Jai White in my post just below this one, comedian/actor Cedric The Entertainer has also jumped to the other side of the camera, as director, for a film called Chicago Pulaski Jones, his directorial debut.
The film which stars Kel Mitchell, Tommy Davidson, Affion Crockett, and Cedric himself (amongst many others), centers on a young championship dancer seeking fame & fortune, who is forced to avenge the death of his uncle. If that reads like it’s a drama or thriller, get that out of your head, because, from the trailer below (and with this cast) it’s obviously a comedy.
I couldn’t find much else on it. IMDb says it’s been in the works since 2008, and looks like it’s completed, with a 2010 release planned; however, I couldn’t find it anywhere; not on Netflix or Amazon. And it certainly hasn’t been released in theaters.
