Jeff Campagna and Colm Feore met by chance in late 2005 on a plane coming back from London, England. A year later The Campagna Brothers shot the film and cut together the opening credits with Colm Feore's face and name already included. They showed him the opening credit sequence on a laptop out front of a theater he had just preformed in, in Stratford, Ontario. It was after seeing himself already in the opening credits, that Colm Feore agreed to play the role of The Preacher, which was written specifically for him.
The crew of 7 drove 38 hours from Toronto, Ontario to Drumhellar, Alberta in a cube van they got from the famous Red Paper Clip trades. The van was given to them in exchange for a music recording session with Brendan Mclellan, who did location recording for the film.
The title "Six Reasons Why" is also the name of a band that The Campagna Brother's dad played bass for in university.
When the bullet rigging was first being done for the various gunshot effects in Six Reasons Why, cinematographer and co-writer/director Matthew Campagna volunteered to be the first to be squibbed, saying that the only way to direct an actor with explosives strapped to him, is to get blown up first. Subsequently, the four main actors in Six Reasons Why were all squibbed, and in a cameo at the start of the film, Matt's character is the first to die.
