On the BBC, author Richard Osman said he would be having nothing to do with the production because Spielberg made ET and if he did that he knows how to make a film. He said this was the first of 4 books featuring the characters in The Thursday Murder Club, with the second The Man Who Died Twice released in September 2021
The cast for the film is not yet confirmed, as the film industry strikes have continued to affect the filming schedule. Web polls however, have been frantic to weigh in on the casting process, with national treasures Julie Walters, Helen Mirren, Judy Dench and Penelope Wilton appearing as front runners for fan favourites.
Osman has stated that he does not wish to be too involved in the film's production, as he would rather focus on his next series of books.
