San Francisco, Feb 15 (Ians) Microsofts Edge extensions store is believed to have hosted "pirated copies" of classic games including Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Pac-Man, Tetris, Cut The Rope, and even its own smash-hit game Minecraft.
According to The Verge, the developers behind these offers were not Microsoft, Nintendo or "any other" related parties.
The games were discovered among the extensions available for Microsoft‘s Edge web browser where they had been hiding in plain sight for at least three months.
As per the report, the Sonic game, another Mario game, a couple of Pac-Man games, and a variety of copies of 2048, Flappy Bird, Fruit Ninja, Temple Run are not available anymore. All that remains what appears to be a copy of Google Chrome's dinosaur game.
However, initially, 35 listings across 10 different "developers" from different developers but had very similar descriptions, indicating that they could be coming from the same source.

A movie project about Pompeii that Roman Polanski was set to direct two years ago is being re-imagined as a miniseries by a partnership that includes Sony Pictures TV, Scott Free and German producer Tandem.
As with the aborted Polanski pic, the event mini is based on the bestseller "Pompeii" by Robert Harris and will be unveiled Monday in Cannes during the Miptv program sales market. (Polanski went on to collaborate with Harris on another pic, "The Ghost Writer," but has no involvement in this epic for the smallscreen.)
Details are still sketchy as to which party will retain which distribution rights on "Pompeii," but Tandem, the company behind another mini based on Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth," will likely handle key European territories while Sony retains rights elsewhere.

This is a massive week of releases featuring a handful of films even I have to catch up with (not to mention there’s something for everyone in today’s line-up). But enough rambling, on to the goods!
Finally on DVD in the Us this week is the Canadian pseudo-zombie film Pontypool (review, amazon) from one of my favourite Canadian directors Bruce McDonald. Be sure to watch through the end credits! And by the way, the Us DVD cover art is pretty awesome.
Highlander director Russell Mulcahy’s private investigator drama Give 'em Hell, Malone (amazon) hits store shelves. It stars a great cast featuring Thomas Jane, Doug Hutchison and Ving Rhames. Fans of hard-boiled revenge thrillers may want to take a peek at Takanori Tsujimoto’s Hard Revenge Milly (amazon).
If a gorgeous looking prison escape drama is more your cup of tea, Rupert Wyatt’s The Escapist (amazon...

Lost City Raiders aired on Scifi Channel on November 22nd 2008 to record breaking ratings. In fact, as it stands right now, Lost City Raiders is ranked Scifi's 5th most watched movie event of 2008. Of course, with the questionable quality of some of Scifi's original programming I wasn't too surprised to read that tidbit of information after viewing the film. Next to many of the films they produce, Lcr feels like a full fledged and fully realized Pa adventure film.
Many viewers seem to be comparing Lcr to Waterworld but instead, I say the film owes more to the rollicking adventure yarns of Indiana Jones. So, a word of warning to anyone who attempts to track this one down; to enjoy the Pa...

If you recall, the first to go on Lost was the teeny bopper demo, and along with it the characters of Boone (Ian Somerhalder) and shortly into the second season Shannon (Maggie Grace). Each of them went on to do some features, for Grace it was The Fog, and more recently Taken. For Somerhalder, it was Pulse and a stint on the nearly soft porn series Tell Me You Love Me. Well, Somerhalder is returning to the TV Screen this weekend in an - cringe - made for SciFi movie called Lost City Raiders. See how they were able to sneak in the name of his hit show? Here’s the lowdown: “The Da Vinci Code” meets “Waterworld” in “Lost City Raiders,” Sci Fi Channel’s brand-new original movie. Premiering Saturday, November 22 as part of NBC Universal’s Green Week, the epic adventure stars James Brolin, Ian Somerhalder ("Lost") and...
