Filmmaker Mike Davis says:
Her name is “The Girl.” She appeared on my roof one day in 1998 and has been my cat ever since.
My films include the Russ Meyer tribute Pervert!, and the recycled footage ‘green’ movies Sex Galaxy and President Wolfman, which is due out on VHS only May 24, 2014 through Wild Eye Releasing — with DVD and VOD release to follow.
I’m currently working on a World War 2 epic, my most outrageous movie yet.

Also, Sex Galaxy and President Wolfman are two of the funniest damn movies you’ll ever see, recycled or otherwise!

During this year’s rough presidential election season, we finally have a candidate we can get behind! President Wolfman!
We don’t know if this lycanthropic Potus is pro-environment or not, but the guys behind bringing him to life are as President Wolfman is the latest “green movie” from the outrageous Stag Films studio. A “green movie” is one that doesn’t waste environmentally damaging new film and is composed entirely out of public domain footage and feature films.
Stag Films’ previous movie was the gut-bustingly hilarious Sex Galaxy, so they have a lot to live up to with President Wolfman. But, gauging by the funky trailer above, it appears they’re up to the task.
President Wolfman, directed by Mike Davis, will be making its World Premiere at the Sydney Underground Film Festival on Sept. 8. (Full festival lineup to be posted on Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film soon.

Looking for a cheap laugh?
As the Video on Demand wars heats up, Amazon has started really ramping up their own online offerings. Yes, they still sell DVDs, but now they sell tons of movies that you can watch either on your computer monitor or download to a mobile device.
While, of course, Amazon is banking its VOD business on getting top Hollywood content, lots of smaller distributors are allowing their releases to be available on VOD in addition to selling DVDs on the site as well. Plus, Amazon’s longtime CreateSpace DVD on Demand business is also allowing for VOD, directly giving filmmakers some VOD power after they’ve been locked out of iTunes, Netflix and/or Hulu.
Renting feature length movies on Amazon usually runs about $1.99 to $2.99, so if you’re looking for a quick cheap laugh, these quirky, oddball little movies might satisfy your needs.
Gamers, dir.

“Ho Ho … What the hell is this?”
If that’s the type of reaction you want to get out of somebody — or everybody! — on your Christmas list, then pick something out of this collection of bizarro movies, gross-out flicks and mind-bending reads.
The New Underground Classics
Altamont Now, dir. Joshua von Brown
Chosen as Bad Lit’s 2008 Movie of the Year, this balls-out, punk-rockin’ apocalypse comes firing at you like a nuclear missile. (Seriously, it was filmed in an actual missile silo.) Part social commentary, part fame whore busting, part punk rock musical — and all freakin’ hilarious! (Review)
Every Other Day Is Halloween, dir. C.W. Prather
Screw Santa. Who you’ll really want to see on Christmas is Count Gore De Vol, Washington D.C.’s beloved TV horror host who for years thrilled late night viewers with scares and laughs before taking his act online for the whole world to enjoy.

Stag Films, the Los Angeles-based indie film production company, is looking to help struggling filmmakers finally finish their movies — for free.
All filmmakers have big dreams when they start their new projects, but sometimes the chilly reality of financing kills films dead. For filmmakers who have been forced to close down production due to lack of funds can now send any and all footage they may have shot to Stag Films, who will then complete the picture using any means necessary.
According to Mike Davis, Stag President, “We have a collective team of writers, directors, editors, voice over artists and musicians who have the creative power and ingenuity to take an unfinished movie and do what it takes to make it complete.”
A pioneer in the new “green film” movement, Stag Films previously constructed the international hit comedy Sex Galaxy by cobbling together old sci-fi films, educational shorts and classic nudie loops.

Luckily for me Iceland appears to have appeased the fire gods. Air travel to Europe from Toronto resumed in full on Wednesday, just in time for me to hop on a plane to Estonia, where I am currently attending the Haapsalu Fantastic Film Festival - the weekend long horror series backed by the organizers of the Tallinn Black Nights festival.
Things kicked off in earnest last night with about a hundred and fifty local residents getting undead and roaming the streets of this small town - apparently a favorite spa retreat of the Russian Czars at one point - before ending up at the ruins of a Middle Ages castle - pictured above - for an outdoor screening of local short film Wanderer by Robi Uppin and French zombie action horror The Horde. I've made my opinion of The Horde clear elsewhere - I'm not a fan - but there's...

Mike Davis’ outrageous, sexy, recycled sci-fi flick Sex Galaxy is now available on DVD. Using 99% public domain footage, Sex Galaxy tells of a dim future where sexual intercourse has been outlawed thanks to global overpopulation, so when a team of astronauts hear of a distant planet filled with horny chicks — man, they are so there! Distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures, Sex Galaxy is available on Amazon, Netflix, Blockbuster, GreenCine and loads more places.
Although the title and premise may imply Sex Galaxy is just a one-joke kind of film, in fact Davis stuffs his film with a real wit and intelligence. Yes, the dialogue can be completely crass and crude and includes offensive characters such as a robotic pimp named Rod and a hideous monster called a vagisaur, there’s a real streak of humanity and care underneath the vulgarity, which is what ultimately makes the film so successful. I...

Imagine what might happen if a group of male space travellers heard of a planet inhabited by raving nymphomaniacs.
Well, that's exactly what Mike Davis did and the result was his directorial debut - the sci-fi comedy Sex Galaxy.
To celebrate the DVD release of the interstellar sex spoof, PollyGrind.com and The Sci-Fi Center are putting together a special grindhouse double feature in his honour tonight, April 10, in Las Vegas.
Sex Galaxy, which was released on April 6 by Breaking Glass Pictures and Unearthed Films, will kick off the night at 7.30pm. A question and answer session with Davis will be held after the closing credits.
A screening of the 2005 film Pervert!, which Davis wrote and co-produced, will follow.
"This will be the local premiere for both movies," Davis said. "I'm excited. Pervert! has never screened in Vegas."
Sex Galaxy was made by editing together stock and public domain footage.
