From sitcom celebrities to slam-dunking stars, famous faces lent their voices to a farewell tribute honoring President Barack Obama.
In the video, “Yes We Can: Your Most Memorable Moments from the Obama Presidency,” celebrities shared their favorite times during the Obama administration. The video was shared just one day before the Obamas held a celeb-filled farewell party at the White House on Friday night.
In the video, Jerry Seinfeld admitted that knocking on the Oval Office window to get the president’s attention was “probably the peak of my entire existence.”

Author Joe Conason, a 20-year student of Bill Clinton, made headlines with his new biography of the former president even before the book hit the shelves. (Remember that leaked dinner-party scene where former Secretary of State Colin Powell allegedly advised then-current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on her ill-fated private email server? It's complicated, right?) Now that Conason's Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton is in bookstores this week, we see that he tackles in 486 pages the even more complicated matters of Clinton's relationships with the biggest names in political headlines this season. Here's the...

"Hey, Hillz! Nice meeting you. Lemme write you a song when you run for president!" That's basically how Katy Perry followed up her meeting with Hillary Clinton at a book signing last Friday. And Clinton seemed down with it, oddly enough. .@katyperry Well that's not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar.— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 22, 2014 But before you say that a Hillary Clinton-Katy Perry team-up seems a little out of left field, know that the Ready for Hillary Super Pac already used "Roar" in a promotional video earlier this year. Washington -- Baseball great Hank Aaron is a Barack Obama guy. Golf legend Jack Nicklaus is in Mitt Romney's camp.
From athletes and astronauts to singers and Hollywood stars, a growing line of celebrities is turning up at fancy dinners and rallies to build support and get out the vote for Obama or Romney, the president's Republican challenger.
Obama has entertainers like Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, George Clooney, Beyonce and Jay-z.
Romney's supporters include Clint Eastwood, musicians Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood and comedian Dennis Miller. Often the Democratic ticket attracts younger and glitzier stars.
Both campaigns have spent huge amounts of time and effort making sure their rallies feature opening acts that reinforce a campaign message, whether it's the economy, health care, veterans or some other issue.

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has released a new video urging that people only vote for congressional candidates that support the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as ObamaCare.
"Life is a pre-existing condition," McCready says at the beginning of the video. The guitarist was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when he was 21 years old, and has long been an advocate for the condition. (As noted by the Seattle Times, "Crohn's disease is characterized by the inflammation of the intestinal wall, while ulcerative colitis causes ulceration and inflammation in the colon and rectum.")
The video -- which was directed by Jesse Dylan, the man behind the 2008 video "Yes We Can" -- stresses the difficulty McCready has had getting health care in his life because of Crohn's disease.
"I was denied twice, even being a member of a famous rock band," McCready said in a statement accompanying the video. "The people who don't have those kind of resources,...

After endorsing Mitt Romney for president earlier this month, Clint Eastwood was on hand Thursday at the Gop convention, taking the stage in support of the presidential nominee. During his time in front of the crowd, Eastwood said President Barack Obama failed to deliver on his promises, saying it was time for Romney to "solve the problem." "I remember three and a half years ago when Mr. Obama won the election and, no, I wasn't a big supporter," Eastwood said. Sookie was still feeling the effects of one too many Orange Marzipans when True Blood kicked off this week, but "Hopeless" had me drunk with delight in the end, as it featured a number of scenes to which I'd like to raise a glass.
While the smoke monster chased Terry and Patrick like they were members of Danielle Rousseau's science expedition on Lost, some of you may have found yourself wanting to put a curse on Alan Ball for this continued storyline.
I, however, liked the heartfelt scene where Terry told Arlene why he had to leave her and the kids behind. They both have been through so much and thought they finally had found some peace when they discovered their feelings for each another, but once again they were each set adrift in their quests for a normal life.

In honor of Brand's sharp witticisms, we've put together a list of his nine best jokes that kept us laughing long after he finished telling them.
Twilight! Hunger Games!
When Brand first walked out onto the Movie Awards stage and started yelling, " Twilight! Hunger Games!" we figured he was off Andy Samberg. Instead, as he said later in the monologue, he was using them because "these words generate goodwill." They certainly did, as he used them repeatedly over the course of the night.

-- Under a tent on George Clooney's basketball court, the cheers were loud and warm for President Barack Obama.
"I want to thank Clooney for letting us use his basketball court," Obama quipped to a glittery crowd that included Barbra Streisand, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Salma Hayek and Tobey Maguire. "This guy has been talking smack about his basketball game ever since I've known him."
It can't feel too shabby to be applauded by Barbra, Salma and Tobey while you're teasing your buddy George. And though many of the guests Thursday night at Clooney's home in the Studio City area of Los Angeles were, like their host, longtime supporters, there was no question the president was feeling some special love at this fundraiser. He had, after all, thrilled the community a day earlier with the support for gay marriage they'd long awaited.

Dustin Lance Black, Oscar-winning writer of the movies "Milk" and and "J. Edgar," is back on Team Obama.
Black told the Huffington Post Wednesday afternoon that he was deeply moved by President Barack Obama's statement in support of gay marriage, which he called "a game changer."
"It does show leadership. It shows strength. And all these things I've been waiting to see," Black said. "I've caught myself saying, 'Yes we can' again."
Black's enthusiasm stands in sharp contrast to his strongly-worded op-ed in the Hollywood Reporter on April 26. He called for those in the Lgbt to consider withholding support for the president because of his spotty record on gay rights. (Black later said the Hollywood Reporter's headline misconstrued his position.)
Black said the stridency and passion of Obama's statement on Wednesday convinced him of the president's commitment to equal rights.

"We the Party" has a poster that makes it look like a more urban entry in the popular "Step Up" franchise, but is hilariously tagged as being "From the Director of 'New Jack City,'" a movie that most of the cast and pretty much anyone they're targeting to watch the movie, have either forgotten about entirely or never seen because it's too fucking old. It is, however, quite evocative of "We the Party," a movie that tries to be edgier, more outrageous, and (oddly) more socially conscious than most teen movies, but ends up being just as tired and cliché (if not more so), combining familiar beats from every high school flick imaginable and shellacking them in the tired aesthetics of 1990s music videos.

While the Republican leadership race (to the bottom) continues, with all the candidates trying to prove who hates women, gays and minorities the most, President Barack Obama hasn't really fired up his campaign in full. Yet. But with the elections looming just eight months away, he's going to start hitting the road and getting the word out, hoping that America says "Yes We Can" again.
To help get things rolling, Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth," "Waiting For Superman") has shot a 17-minute short film about the President. A trailer has dropped and it's exactly what you'd expect: a softball, yet rousing examination of Obama's presidency with an emphasis on his work on the economy, healthcare and killing Bin Laden, all narrated with the dulcet tones of Tom Hanks. Considering this is gearing up to be shown at upcoming campaign spots, it's hardly a surprise.

This just in: President Obama will be re-elected president in 2012.
At least, that's what the newly discovered Academy Awards/Golden Globes Rule suggests.
With only two exceptions over the past 50 years, a Democrat has won the White House when the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Drama) and the Oscar for Best Picture have not gone to the same film. When the same picture takes both honors, a Republican wins.

New York -- Hollywood loves the Next Big Thing, and four years ago, that was Barack Obama, the equivalent of a breakout movie star.
"He is `The One,'" said Oprah Winfrey, his biggest and most influential celebrity champion.
"The best candidate I've ever seen," said George Clooney.
Halle Berry said she'd "collect paper cups off the ground to make his pathway clear." Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am chimed in with the famous "Yes We Can" video.
But you can't be the Next Big Thing twice and as a new election year dawns, there's clearly a different mood in heavily Democratic Hollywood.
That means less gushing, not to mention snippets of criticism, most prominently from actor Matt Damon, who campaigned for Obama last time but now makes no secret of his disillusionment.
"I think he misinterpreted his mandate," Damon said earlier this year. He recently told Elle magazine...

Washington, D.C. (X17online) - Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am is set to headline a benefit concert in Beijing later this year. The State Department announced the concert as a benefit for President Obama's "100,000 Strong Initiative," which aims to send more Americans to China to study, according to CNN. The Grammy-award winning rapper was a natural fit to headline the show, which will feature other American and Chinese pop artists, as his "Yes We Can" music video was inspired by Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. The concert is being organized by the non-profit organization Americans Promoting Study Abroad, and funds from the show will help run study abroad operations for under-privileged students hoping to study in China.

Yes, Hollywood Stars can live up (or down) to their stereotypes. But they can also be invaluable in promoting a good cause. Here's how the best partnerships work.

In The Intersecting Worlds of celebrities and public causes, two opposing clichés are locked in competition for custody of our imagination: the celebrity as superhero and the celebrity as screwup. Both images are rooted in our notion that famous people are, in some profound way, not normal -- and which version we prefer at any given moment can depend on who's making the headlines. When we read, for instance, about George Clooney striving to bring democracy and health to Sudan, or Sean Penn appearing to carry on his shoulders all the troubles of Haiti as well as the rigors of overseeing a massive Ngo, we can believe that exceptional people who have the power to attract exceptional attention can,...

Brendan Gleeson gave a rousing and emotional speech about the 1845 visit by Fredrick Douglass, Obama's hero. He was followed by Ryan Sheridan singing "Jigsaw". Stephen Rea then took to the stage reciting the WB Yeats poem "I am Ireland". He dedicated it to all the Irish people who had been forced to emigrate over the years. He said "We hope it will not be too long before these people, or their children, return to dance with us in Ireland". Dubliner Imelda May then took the stage with her hit song "Johnny Got a Boom Boom" before sports commentator...

As promised, here are Parts I and II of an interview conducted by the webmaster of No Fact Zone, Db Ferguson, with the star of the Comedy Central show ‘The Colbert Report’, Stephen Colbert. The first part of the interview was conducted on Tuesday, May 17th, and the second part on Thursday, May 19th.

Db: You spoke with Terry Gross a while ago about being an altar boy at midnight mass, and “that guy” has said he that was an altar boy for 11 years, and I’m just curious if you, the real Stephen, were actually an altar boy for that long?
Sc: Yes I was. I started as an altar boy in 2nd grade, I was 7 years old. And I was pretty steadily an altar boy until my sophomore year. I think my junior and senior year...

Chloe Moretz wasn't kidding around.
When MTV News caught up with the actress at The Comedy Awards in New York City last weekend, she informed us that she'd booked a new gig so huge we would freak out when we heard about it. And while the "Kick-Ass" star couldn't divulge beyond that, Deadline filled in the blank today when they reported that the 14-year-old would be joining the oh-so-impressive cast of Tim Burton's upcoming "Dark Shadows."
So while the starlet did miss out on that coveted role of Katniss in "The Hunger Games", snagging a part in another highly-anticipated feature alongside the likes of Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter and Michelle Pfeiffer (whom Chloe will be playing the daughter of) is no joke.
After the jump, check out the news on James Franco's latest endeavor, casting for the lead in "Rock of Ages", Ryan Reynolds voicing...

Sam Vaghar started Millennium Campus Network (McN) in 2007 when he was a student at Brandeis University. He had read Jeffrey Sachs' book The End of Poverty and knew he wanted to do something to help address the Un Millennium Development Goals and tackle global poverty. So Sam convened students from around the country at a series of annual conferences to inspire, engage, and call young people to action and built a collaborative network of campus groups. Working closely with leaders like Jeffrey Sachs and Partners in Health Founder Paul Farmer, as well as celebrities like John Legend, all of whom serve as advisers to McN, Sam is giving his generation the tools and asking them to stand up and be active citizens. Sam, now 24, talked to us about how to affect change and the urgent need to tackle global poverty.

Sarah Palin as a cyborg/steampunk warrior is not even as funny as some of the other titles Antarctic Press puts out.
I mean, it's genius. Antarctic Press has apparently been around since 1985, but it's taken this Sarah Palin comic to get me to know hwo they were. Now I love them. Check out their titles, since everyone in Comic Book Land is all a-stir about the Sarah Palin Steampunk issue.
Energy catastrophe has struck worldwide! Massive oil spills, nuclear meltdowns and more leave us desperate for viable energy sources to rebuild global society and technology. Inspired by a little tea party, Sarah Palin hits upon the answer: steam power! She begins the "Steam Initiative", touting geothermal energy as the cure for what ails ya. The heads of Big Oil and Nuclear Power are less than happy with this trend, and they send their agents to do in the Rogue Republican.

Mary Alice (Brenda Strong) "We know what they look like, we know how they dress and we know how they behave. Yes we can all recognize the wrong kind of people and when we see them coming, we do what we have to do to protect ourselves." Paul (Mark Moses) is getting the parolees to fix up the house. He wants them living on the street where everyone's so friendly. The women all need to gather support from the others so he can't buy up the last house he needs. Mary Alice: "My friends went to work trying to stop Paul Young...he didn't care. He should have...he knew what the ordinary men and women will do to protect themselves from the wrong type of people." Lots of people packing heat this episode, but of course we don't get to see everyone's faces, that'd lose the mystery and effect.

Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler has admitted that the show was inspired by the election of Us President Barack Obama. The actress told the Los Angeles Times that the NBC sitcom was designed to explore "the minutia and politics that go along with city hall". "I started the show right after Obama was elected, when it was all, 'Yes we can!' and 'Let's do this!'" she explained. "There's certainly a lot of comedy to be had in the reality of how slow things [actually] move [in government], how little changes [and] how hard it is to change things. Like, (more)...

I've always been of the mind that Parks and Recreation is fucking hilarious. And also, I've always liked President Obama. So imagine my excitement when Amy Poehler revealed that President Obama inspired Parks and Recreation! Despite the fact that Leslie Knope clearly counts Hillary Clinton among her all-time top idols ever, it turns out it was Clinton's primary opponent that got Poehler jazzed: "I started the show right after Obama was elected, when it was all, 'Yes we can!' and 'Let's do this!' There's certainly a lot of comedy to be had in the reality of how slow things [actually] move [in government], how little changes [and] how hard it is to change things. Finally, candidates have caught the social media bug, and are ubiquitously using Twitter and Facebook to connect with voters. It's the only story that gov 2.0 news outlets seem to be covering, lauding politicos for their tech savvy. But after next week's election, pay close attention to how many elected officials end their web use. It's a trend some are noticing among politicians, who may take to the Internet during campaigns, yet once in office, tone down the tweets and Facebook posts.
For President Obama, social media has become just another platform for press releases, rather than a way for followers (and potential voters) to gain direct access. "The small-business jobs bill passed today will provide loans and cut taxes for millions of small businesses without adding to our deficit," @BarackObama tweeted recently. "Making a personnel announcement this morning. Watch live at 11:05am Et," another post read. These types of...

'Yes we can, but it's not gonna happen overnight,' president jokes during Wednesday-night appearance.

In the midst of a media news blitz ahead of the midterm elections next Tuesday, President Barack Obama made some time to appear on "The Daily Show" on Wednesday night. The president sat down with host Jon Stewart for a humorous interview that was laced with serious critiques. It was the first time a sitting president appeared on the show, and the entire episode was dedicated to the interview.
Stewart opened the interview by proudly presenting Obama with "Mug Force One," a mug with the presidential seal on it. After a brief exchange of jokes, the interview quickly moved to some humorous pointed questions about the gap between Obama's soaring rhetoric and the current state of the nation.

When Barack Obama ran as president, his slogan was "Yes We Can!" On 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11Pm Et on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart criticized Obama's year-and-a-half in office -- and offered a replacement slogan: "Yes we can, given certain conditions, blah blah blah ... blah blah."
During a historic 30-minute interview, Obama and Stewart argued -- but had much to agree on. Still, the host didn't let the president off easily. Jon critiqued Obama's attempts to reform the national health care system, calling the President's efforts "timid."
This led to a stern answer from the commander-in-chief: "I have a profound disagreement with you." Stewart said he hadn't suggested reform was "inconsequential." Obama shot back with a sarcastic response: "The suggestion was that it was 'timid.'"

Today, the United States. This weekend, Washington, D.C. In a poll of more than half a million readers, the online magazine AskMen.com has voted Jon Stewart the most influential man of 2010, it was announced Tuesday. The distinction arrives only days ahead of this weekend's "Rally to Restore Sanity" being organized by the Daily Show host and his Comedy Central colleague, Stephen Colbert, in the nation's capital. As for his influence, AskMen says, "Despite his innumerable enemies, Stewart's acerbic take on the madness around him continues to draw audiences who look to the funnyman as a voice of reason.

Chicago – When Barack Obama took to the podium at Grant Park and gave his acceptance speech on the evening of November 4, 2008, his face appeared strangely reserved. His eyes did not reflect the overwhelming excitement of his supporters. Their grassroots efforts led to the election of a candidate whose popularity transcended national boundaries, injecting cynics with hope.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Obama could make a believer out of anyone except, perhaps, himself. With all eyes averted eagerly toward him, the newly elected President of the United States looked cool, composed and utterly daunted. Was he simply attempting to maintain a grounded calm, a la Lovie Smith? Or was he beginning to fear that his campaign had somehow oversold his abilities to clean up a mess sure to linger throughout several presidencies? Now that he had the whole world in his hands, was he afraid that he would fumble the ball?

It was never about Barack Obama. He said as much on the campaign trail. Time and time again he would remind the thousands that gathered to hear him speak that the election was not about him... a sentiment that's been lost over the last two years. This inconsistency, as subtle as it may be, is the subtext for everything wrong with the administration's message. It was about us. In his words, it was about "the power of ordinary Americans", the promise of millions of voices calling for the kind of change that transcended one election cycle. Over the course of the last two years this administration has distorted the "we" in "Yes We Can", most blatantly during the health care debate. Whenever President Obama evoked the term "we" more often than not he was...

Despicable Me is coming out next week (Friday, 15th October to be exact) and while I was watching the trailer for the movie again recently, I got hooked on the ‘does this count as annoying’ bit of the trailer by character Agnes (voiced by Elsie Fisher) and it made me laugh so much! It got me thinking that maybe we could do a feature on the cutest and creepiest kids in movies.
Since Despicable Me is an animated film, I’ve gone down the line of animated for the cuties and live action for the creepies! Have a little look down the list and then feel free to let me know who I’ve missed in the comments section below.

Lets start with Agnes since she’s the inspiration for the post. She’s cute and you just want to squidge her!

The show is working a Jedi mind trick on me. Try as I might to hold onto my standards, I dare say I’m coming around to enjoying myself on Thursday nights again. I think it’s because Mary is such reliably fluffy company, and Cat wears ridiculous hats, and Lynda, that sexy leprechaun, pops up every now and again to throw down. It’s so oddly interesting to watch the main dramas play out—the growing tension between Cat and her bags-packed husband Charles, the Salahis’ ridiculous delusions of grandeur and entitlement—when we know the endings already.

"Piranha 3D" arrives in theaters this Friday. Killer fish, excessive gore, 3-D effects and, of course, Hollywood treasure Jerry O'Connell. With this incredible confluence of awesome, don't you think the movie that wasn't fit for a clip screening at San Diego Comic-Con deserves an Oscar? I sure do. So does the cast. They even cut a video to convince you. Even if you can't actually cast votes. Listen to their appeals though, and once you're convinced reach out to your local Hollywood representative with a strongly worded letter.

New Housewives people, and this time it’s political. A few words of intro before we dive in: In this city, “currency is proximity to power.” Mary wins! Colin Powell lives across the street from her. Stephen Rivers, a veteran independent PR consultant with highly placed clients in entertainment and politics, died early Tuesday after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 55.
Rivers' work occasionally straddled communities in Hollywood and Washington and included more than two dozen trips to Cuba with actors and directors who sought his help navigating rules governing research trips. A highlight saw Rivers accompany Benicio Del Toro to Havana in 2008 for a Havana Film Festival screening of the movie "Che."
Jordan's Queen Rania Al Abdullah numbered among his clients. Rivers was active in state and national Democratic Party campaigns but also enjoyed close relationships with Republicans including Arnold Schwarzenegger. He served as family spokesperson for the California governor and wife Maria Shriver.

It’s getting close to the end of the season, which means that all of our favorite procedurals are taking brief dips into the serialized swimming pool. The Mentalist and CSI, that irascible pair of Thursday night poker buddies, both had season finales that focused on long-running storylines: Patrick Jane came face to face with Red John, and CSI brought back one psychopath (hi, Haskell!) to catch another (bye, Jekyll!) On CSI: Miami, Horatio’s ex-girlfriend returned… and got killed. On CSI: NY, Mac’s ex-girlfriend returned… and got hugged. Meanwhile, in the Law & Orderverse, it was all about marriages.
