Witty Shakespeare, meet The Bumblebee Man
troy-tuq19 March 2008
The Bumblebee Man is a comical Shakespearean-style tragedy that encompasses the theme of love. While Cavan and Heaslip revealed some technical fallacies, the script is tight and the visuals convey the reality of the scene. First, the technical issues with this film in the varied lighting and audio issues. Lighting levels sometimes change within a scene or between scenes which looks unintended. Minor changes in the audio distracted from some of the dialog, but this is minimal. Considering that this is a student film with a student budget, this film still came off looking fairly professional. An up-point is the script grabs the audience with its witty dialogue, brought to life by the actors. The film really reminded me of some Shakespeare comedy, with the style of English and the delivery of lines. Combined with the final cut, the script maximizes every second of screen time. The film has an illusion of being longer than it actually is, because such a large story is condensed down. The visual styling in this film range from costume to lighting design. Costumes are not realistic, but they fit the style of the film perfectly. Lighting really tells the mood of each scene to near perfection. With just a few minor technical issues, The Bumblebee Man is a worthwhile short to watch when you need a romantic boost. "Watch the Bumblebee Man fly!"
