- DS Granger turns to Wicklow for help whilst investigating a murder supposedly committed by a boy with learning difficulties, which has been overturned on appeal. But when Wicklow is stabbed, Granger suspects he is playing games with her.
- DCI Hazel Norton asks Eve to reopen a six year old case. Young Chris Taylor,a boy with learning difficulties, was sentenced for murder but the conviction has been over-turned as unsound as it was felt the police bullied him into a confession. Eve and Ajay interview the investigating officers and the Taylor family, receiving conflicting opinions - Chris's mother believing he was guilty. Eve and Jake resume their relationship, despite Jake being stalked by Ally,a gay man who wrote to him in prison and to whom he replied believing Ally was a girl. Eve decides to ask Wicklow for his advice, visiting him in hospital after another inmate stabbed him - an incident which Eve believes Wicklow may have engineered. Furthermore when she speaks to him he is clearly becoming fascinated by her and, rather than give straightforward answers, taunts her that she does not know the full extent of Jake's crime in order to drive a wedge between the couple. Consequently the events of the first murder are not satisfactorily resolved.—don @ minifie-1
