William Petersen's real life dog Bruno starred in this episode with him.
At the end when Grissom's phone rings and he looks at the caller ID, the way he grins and says "Hi" and lies down on his couch, it is inferred by many viewers, and possibly as a subtle nod by the writers, that it is Sara Sidle on the other end of the line.
Robert LaSardo (the actor with the distinct real tattoos) confusingly also portrayed David Caruso's wife's killer Memmo Fierro on the companion series CSI: Miami. As Robert has appeared in both series, which share a story-universe, its possible he's either playing a masssively identical pair of doppelgangers, or it may be the same fictional person under two identities, as possible witness protection, or he's on the run.
