- Selim take the ushabti of Khonshu to an alcove, and puts it along. There are other alcoves, with other ushabtis, in them.
Layla tries to wake up the unconscious Steven, and then rolls herself down a dune to their truck when two acolytes arrive in their truck and open fire on them. Layla ducks into their truck, then throws dynamite from the back into the enemy truck, blowing it up. The sun comes up as Steven awakes and stares at Layla.
Layla drives the two of them off, and she figures Harrow is heading back to Ammit's tomb, and they're going to need Marc if Harrow is. In the mirror, Marc's reflection agrees but Steven refuses. he tells Layla that he and Marc made a deal, that Marc would disappear for good once Marc was done with Khonshu. Layla thought she should have been made aware of Marc disappearing from her life, and Steven points out that Marc had already disappeared from Layla's life. She avoids his question and points out that Marc doesn't have the suit, and Marc tells Steven to give him the body and otherwise it's a suicide mission. Layla figures that Marc would just want to go it alone, but she's with him, pulls over, and says that they'll continue on foot.
The two continue into the canyon where the tomb is, then out into the open. Layla spots the tomb and Ammit's acolytes, and figures that they're already inside and the two of them will have to find another way in. They sneak into the camp and make sure everyone is inside, and check the tents for supplies. Marc's reflection tells Steven that without Khonshu, there's no more suit, healing, or powers. He wishes he could disappear but he's still there, and tells Steven that he has to be smart for Layla's sake. Steven figures that he has Marc's muscle memory, but Marc isn't so sure and tells Steven not to lay a finger on Layla or he'll throw them off a cliff.
Layla finds some dynamite, and doesn't see a metal staff on the floor.
Later, she puts belaying harnesses on herself and Steven, and he's thrilled to be on an adventure he's been waiting his whole life for. She starts to kiss Steven, but he pulls away and tells her that Marc is trying to protect her from Khonshu because he believes Khonshu wants Layla as his Avatar. Layla wonders why Steven is telling her that now, and says that it wasn't Marc's call to make. She says that she needs honesty, not protection, and Steven agrees and they kiss. Then Layla pulls away and says she'll belay down first. As she drops down, Marc takes control of the body and punches Steven in the face.
Steven drops into the tomb, and admires the statues there. He notices a "31" that she's traced in the sand on the floor, and Layla says that it's for her father. She says that her father was an archaeologist on a mission, and he thought it was all a dream worth dying for... and he did. Steven offers his condolences, and Layla says that it's fine. They continue into the maze of corridors and finds shells on the floor, and Layla wonders what the acolytes were shooting at. Steven realizes that the whole structure is a symbol, of the Eye of Horus. Horus' last Avatar was a Pharaoh, and they work out which way leads to the tomb from the symbol.
The duo come to a room with tombs, and Layla figures they were Heka priests that would have been entombed there to protect the Pharaoh. Steven finds a slab covered with fresh blood, and Layla figures they'd better keep moving on. There's a trail of blood leading out down one passageway, and they spot a room above. The hieroglyphs there say that Ammit is bound to one of the ushabtis and there are freshly-filled canopic jars. Steven finds the exit, and they hear gunshots ahead, and they hide as they hear someone coming.
Something drops a wounded man on the slab Layla is hiding behind, then pulls out his brain with a tool. Steven looks down and sees a Heka priest working on the body, putting the brain into a canopic jar. It finishes and climbs up to the room Steven is in, and Steven panics as Layla throws a jar against the wall. The jar shatters, drawing the priest's attention, and she runs out as Steven shoves the table down on the priest. With that, he runs out the upper exit, looking for Layla.
Layla comes to the edge of a seemingly bottomless chasm. She hears a priest coming up behind her, and makes her away along the edge of the chasm along a narrow ledge. The rock breaks beneath Layla's feet, and she barely holds on. She crosses a gap, and a priest reaches out of a hole in the wall and tries to grab her. Layla avoids the hand and falls on the ledge, and another priest grabs her and pulls her into a crevasse. She manages to pull its hand off and get out, and then fights it as it comes out after her. The priest tries to stab Layla with the bone shards from its wrist, and she grabs a flare from her belt, lights it, and jabs into her attacker's eye socket. They both fall off the ledge, and Layla manages to grab the edge and pull herself up Layla sees Harrow ahead, waiting for her.
Steven makes his way through the catacombs, and Marc's reflection in the water points out that Steven kissed Layla earlier. Marc admits that he wasn't expecting Steven to tell Layla the truth about why Marc has been pushing her away. Steven looks around and realizes that they're in the tomb of Alexander the Great.
Harrow tells Layla that she handled the priest beautifully. Gunshots echo behind Harrow, and as Layla walks off, Harrow caller her "my little scarab" and says that's what her father called her. He says that her father would be proud of her for confirming what he always believed, that Egyptian gods walk among them. Layla comes back and Harrow holds up his scale staff, and says that scales reveal moment of pain and sin, and Marc is in agony. Layla tells Harrow to tell her the truth that Marc won't, Harrow says that he read Marc's scales.
Steven reluctantly opens Alexander's sarcophagus, and realizes that the ushabti isn't there. Since Alexand3er was the voice of Ammit, Steven removes the wrappings from the remain's mouth.
Harrow tells Layla that her father Abdullah was murdered by unknown mercenaries, and implies that Marc was one of them. He confirms that Abdullah was the one Marc remembers the most. Layla is seemingly unmoved, and Harrow tells her that he hopes she finds closure. Layla walks off, and the acolytes arrive and tells Harrow that they found another way in.
Steven removes the ushabti from the remain's mouth and shows it to Layla as she comes in. She asks if Marc can hear her, and asks what happened to her father. Marc takes over the body and says that they have to go, and says that of course he didn't kill her father, but his partner did even though he tried to stop him but couldn't. Layla accuses Marc of bring a killer to Abdullah, and Marc admits that he did and his partner shot him as well, but Khonshu saved him Layla figures that's why they met, and Marc had a guilty conscience.
The acolytes come in, guns drawn, and Marc sends Layla to find another way out. Harrow walks in and tells Marc that he's alone, and Khonshu is gone and Marc is a free man. Now Marc has to decide. Marc kills the acolytes as they approach him, and Harrow shoots Marc twice in the chest, as Layla watches from the shadows.
Dr. Steven Grant and his sidekick Rosser make their way through the jungle, find the skeleton of another explorer, and Grant spots a nearby statue of the lunar god of the Aztecs. The movie, 'Tomb Buster', is playing on a TV in a sanitarium wardroom, as the inmates play bingo. An orderly hands out cupcakes, and Marc is an inmate wheelchair, unable to speak. Another patient, Layla, tells Marc that she's changed the movie for the fifth time that week. She finds Marc's bingo card and realizes that he's won, and shows it to the bingo host. Marc called to Steven in a nearby reflection, but gets no answer. His ankle is strapped to the wheelchair, and an orderly helps Marc back in the chair. Marc stares at the Moon Knight action figure he was holding and dropped when he fell.
Marc is taken to the office of Dr. Harrow, who says that he knows Marc is having trouble distinguishing what's in his head from reality. Dr. Harrow asks if the fact there is a moon god in the movie, and Marc's rantings about serving a moon god, is a coincidence or not. He tells Marc that he's sedated because of his own previous behavior, and Marc notices Harrow has a cane like Harrow's scale staff. Muttering, Marc says that everything reminds him and Dr. Harrow asks if he's reminded of Steven.
There is a statue of ushabti in the office, and a painting of the Alps. Dr. Harrow tells Marc that he has to help himself, and Marc says that Harrow shot him and tries to crawl off, yelling at Dr. Harrow to stay away from him. Marc gets to the locked door and tries to open it, and Dr. Harrow tells him that he knows what he's feeling. Breaking the window in the door, Marc gets out, disables the orderlies who try to stop him, and runs off.
The ceiling lights swing, and Marc ducks into a room. The orderlies run past outside, and Marc sees a sarcophagus in the room with Steven inside banging on the lid and yelling for someone to let him out. Marc does so, and Steven gets out and hugs Marc in relief. The last thing either of them remembers is Harrow shooting them, and Marc leads Steven into the hallway. In the next room there's a sarcophagus, with something inside trying to get out.
Coming to a door, Steven and Marc hesitates. A humanoid hippopotamus, the goddess Tawaret, cheerfully greets them and they scream.
