Netflix’s “Locke and Key” has found its two new Locke siblings, casting Emilia Jones and Connor Jessup as Kinsey and Tyler Locke, respectively.
The streaming giant picked up the project, based on the Idw Publishing comic book franchise of the same name, in July for a 10-episode order after Hulu passed on the pilot. The Netflix series was created by Joe Hill and developed by Carlton Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite and Meredith Averill. Cuse and Averill will serve as co-showrunners.
When Netflix picked up the project, the series underwent a retooling. The changes — Cuse previously told TheWrap that virtually nothing from the Hulu pilot would be in the Netflix version — included re-casting two of the three Locke siblings. Only Jackson Robert Scott, who played Bode Locke in the Hulu pilot, is staying on in the Netflix version.

We learned earlier this year that Hulu would *not* be ordering “Locke & Key” to series, despite It director Andy Muschietti having directed the project’s pilot episode. But then, a total miracle happened. Netflix picked up the series for themselves, with the streaming service ordering up ten episodes back in July. Today brings some casting news. Deadline reports that […]...

Are you ready to find The One? Netflix appears to be.
Netflix is quickly becoming a hub for science fiction. The streamer has ordered a new series from Future Man and Misfits creator Howard Overman titled The One.
The series is set in the near future where a DNA test can reveal a person’s perfect partner, and the implications of having the perfect match lead to some explosive decisions. The series is adapted from a 2017 novel by John Marrs, who has said in interviews that he sees the story as a relationship-focused one, rather than hard sci-fi. The novel follows five people who have unexpected matches.
The One received a 10-episode order and will be written by Overman, whose other TV writing credits include Merlin, Dirk Gently, and E4/Netflix’s Crazyhead.
Overman co-created the well-reviewed, Seth Rogen-produced sci-fi comedy Future Man, which streams on Hulu.

The streaming giant picked up the project, based on the Idw Publishing comic book franchise of the same name, last month for a 10-episode order after Hulu passed on the pilot. “Locke and Key” was stuck in development hell for the better part of this decade, having first been a part of Fox’s 2010-11 development slate, which Cuse was not involved with. The horror-fantasy comic series, Locke & Key, has finally found a home for it's live-action adaptation as Netflix has formally picked it up for a 10-episode first season!
It's been a long, and frustrating, road for Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Locke & Key live-action adaptation. For the past, roughly, eight years there have been multiple attempts to bring the gripping horror-fantasy series to the small screen with no success. A pilot was developed (and received critical praise during a screening at Sdcc 2011), but Fox decided against picking up the series. Universal then tried their hand at a feature adaptation before moving on, and as recently as May of this year, Hulu passed on the series despite having a cast and crew in place with their Own pilot filmed....

The TV adaptation of Idw comic book franchise “Locke & Key” has been ordered to series at Netflix, close to two months after it was reported the streamer picked it up when Hulu — which ordered the pilot — passed.
However, there are a few changes being made by Netflix to the long-gestating Carlton Cuse-run project, including redeveloping the scripts and re-casting, a person with knowledge of production told TheWrap.
According to the project’s logline, “Locke & Key” is a horror/fantasy series that revolves around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

Netflix has officially picked up “Locke & Key” to series, nearly two months after it was first reported the project had moved to the streaming giant from Hulu.
The series is based on the Idw Publishing comic book franchise of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. It is a horror/fantasy series that revolves around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. “Locke & Key” had originally been ordered to pilot at Hulu, who passed on it earlier this year. Netflix is redeveloping the show with new scripts and a new cast.

It’s been almost a decade in the making, but the long-in-development “Locke & Key” TV series is finally going to see the light of day on Netflix. After what seems like a half-dozen false starts, author Joe Hill’s comic book series got a straight-to-series order from the streaming service, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, the series is going to start from scratch…again.

In its journey to the screen (both big and small), the adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez's Locke & Key comic book series has been in development at Fox, Universal, and most recently, Hulu. After ordering a Locke & Key pilot episode that was directed by It filmmaker Andy Muschietti, the streaming network decided not to move forward with a full series, but now the adaptation could find a home on another streaming service: Netflix.
According to multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is "near a series-order deal" for a Locke & Key adaptation. A pilot episode of the series (the second pilot episode the adaptation has received—another one was made for Fox in 2011) had already been created for Hulu with Muschietti at the helm, and a writers' room reportedly put together seven scripts for the show, but Netflix wants to take the adaptation in a different direction,...

Will Netflix finally be the outlet to unlock the potential in Locke & Key?
The streaming service has handed a straight-to-series order to the comics-based drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter, after Hulu scrapped their own version earlier this year. The project will be entirely recast, but Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) will remain onboard as an executive producer.
The original comic book written by Joe Hill — who’ll serve as an Ep as well — centers on a group of teens who stumble across a collection of magical keys that bring with them supernatural powers… and attract the attention of demons from other realms.
