It’s here, the newest Netflix thriller adapted from one of Harlan Coben’s ludicrously twist-packed, secret-filled crime mystery novels. This one comes adapted by Danny Brocklehurst with the same UK team that made The Five, Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close, and once again stars Richard Armitage in a central role.
Fool Me Once is the story of military helicopter pilot Maya Stern, a captain who loses her career in a scandal and suffers two bereavements in short succession. It’s fast-paced, kind of ridiculous viewing that takes you down an extremely twisty path before tying everything up in a big not-exactly-watertight-but-it’ll-do-fine knot – which makes it pretty perfect viewing for a brain-fogged New Year’s Day after all of December’s indulgences.
Find out more about the cast of this one below, and happy binge-watching!

Filter have announced their first new album in seven years, The Algorithm, arriving August 25th. The band has also offered up the new single “Obliteration” in advance of the LP’s release.
The track is a concise slab of noisy alt-rock that plays down Filter’s industrial leanings for a more pop-based arrangement. Frontman Richard Patrick’s vocals are hot in the mix, cutting through layers of guitar and pocketed drums. Although heavy and generally upbeat, it’s far from a cheery tune.
Sings Patrick: “Ashes circle the drain / And now it’s all that’s left / All that’s left of me / Sink my teeth in the pain / Watching the world go numb / And I’m just one step from obliteration.”
“Obliteration” was produced by Patrick and long-time collaborator Brian Virtue, while German-based filmmaker Atanas Shopski was tasked with projecting Patrick’s post-apocalyptic lyrical content in animated video form.

Channel 4 has renewed the Lesley Sharp-fronted crime thriller “Before We Die” — an English adaptation of a Swedish series, produced by the team behind Walter Presents.
Sharp will return as detective Hannah Laing, who joins forces with maverick detective Billy Murdoch (Vincent Regan) in a desperate bid to protect her son Christian (Gibson). Season 2 won’t follow the same storyline as its Swedish counterpart, which aired in 2019, but will see Hannah pitched directly against Dubravka, played by Kazia Pelka, the matriarch at the head of the Mimica Croatian crime family.
The adaptation is produced by Eagle Eye Drama, which was formed in late 2019 by Walter Iuzzolino, Jo McGrath and Jason Thorp, the creative team behind the global drama company Walter Presents. Channel 4 has a minority stake in the outfit, which began as the international drama showcase for the broadcaster and has since grown into an international niche streamer.

This week, British actor, writer and director Noel Clarke has made headlines after being accused of groping, harassment and bullying by 20 women.
Clarke played Mickey Smith in “Doctor Who” from 2005 to 2010 and starred as Sam in the films “Kidulthood,” “Adulthood” and “Brotherhood,” which he wrote and directed, intent on bringing more representations of working-class Britain to screen. Clarke also writes, produces and plays Aaron Bishop in the British police procedural series “Bulletproof,” alongside close friend Ashley Walters.
Clarke made his film debut in 2003’s “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” and has since starred in movies including “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Centurion,” “4.3.2.1.,” “Fast Girls,” “Storage 24,” “I Am Soldier,” “The Anomaly,” “I Kill Giants,” “Mute,” “10×10,” “The Corrupted,” “Twist” and “Sas: Red Notice.”
In 2015, Clarke founded the London-based production company Unstoppable Film and Television with Jason Maza, eventually securing investment from super-indie All3Media, which owns “Fleabag” producer Two Brothers and “1917” outfit Neal Street Productions.
