The show was originally going to be filmed in Detroit, Michigan. However because of the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic and the temporary canceling of events with large crowds it had to be moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
During the opening women's tag team match, Bayley/Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross there was an error during the international feed when they went to commercial in the middle of the match. Normally in WWE when they go to commercial during a match the referee wears an earpiece and gets directions from backstage and is required to tell the wrestlers when they are in commercial. Typically when WWE goes to commercial during a match usually the wrestlers continue the match with time killers (long extended submission holds, stalling outside the ring, rest holds etc.) but they stay in character. However since this was taped without fans they just stood around and took a break during the commercials out of character. But the camera feed kept running and on international broadcasts of the show for a minute showed all four of the women out of character resting and joking during the commercials completely out of character. Video of the botch eventually found its way to the internet within an hour of the broadcast.
The first time that Triple H has been a commentator.
The first WWE SmackDown to be filmed in an empty arena with no crowd. The first WWE matches shot without a crowd since The Rock vs Mick Foley for the WWF Championship at Halftime Heat shown during halftime of Super Bowl XXXIII. which aired on Sunday, January 31, 1999.
