The doctor informs Benedikt that he has a tumor in his brain. While contemplating his dull and meaningless existence, Benedikt stumbles upon an ex flame from his youth, the priest Ólöf. Their conversation gives Benedikt an epiphany.
Benedikt starts researching the ins and outs of death with the help of Ólöf. He has a hard time telling his family about the illness as he keeps getting into an argument with his son who is pestering him about money issues.
Benedikt drags his granddaughter along crashing a funeral in more research for his own goodbye party. Ends up dragging a vomit stained child back to his son's house where he finally comes clean.
Sísi has a good influence on her grandfather, who starts to loosen the reins a bit, but quickly crosses the line and continues to burn bridges like there's no tomorrow.
