Desperation often leads to violence when someone’s back is against the wall. Humans are animals, and when cornered, they’ll lash out, throwing caution to the win as part of a fight or flight response. In Lionsgate‘s Desperation Road trailer, a mother protects herself against a corrupted officer of the law, leading to gunfire, bewilderment, and a snap decision to flee the scene. Mistakes can catch up to the best of us, and secrets unravel easily when the past comes back to haunt you.
“In a small Mississippi town, justice and the law are two very different things,” reads the official synopsis for Desperation Road. “Academy Award Winner Mel Gibson, Garret Hedlund, and Willa Fitzgerald star in a modern noir thriller based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Farris Smith about two lost souls tortured by the mistakes of their past and bound by a secret that keeps them running.

Someone call a doctor since we're pretty sure David Foster may have a little case of McPheever. Katharine McPhee proved that things between her and her husband of over two years are still very spicy. On Sept. 21, the Country Comfort star took to her Instagram Story shared her husband's reaction to a little sultry photo she sent him. The singer captioned the screenshot of the text exchange, which included a pic of her posing on a bed in lingerie, "Texts with the husband @davidfoster." Katharine, along with sending the photo to her other half, wrote, "I'm an underwear model now." And it's safe to say that her husband was more than thoroughly impressed...

Netflix has done it again! After just one season, it canceled the international drama Hit & Run, from the team behind Fauda and starring Lior Raz and Sanaa Lathan. This comes after a big summer of cancellations for the streamer, which saw freshman series like The Crew, Country Comfort, The Irregulars, Jupiter’s Legacy, Grand Army, and Dad Stop Embarrassing Me all axed. The Netflix turnover has some viewers streaming mad. “Man, Netflix makes these great shows and cancels them after one season,” one tweeted. “It’s absolutely annoying.” Another Twitter user wrote, “Netflix needs to stop making shows that it never promotes and then cancels after one season because it got no exposure… Getting me emotionally invested in canceled shows and for what.” The Powers That Be at Netflix are aware of the criticism. Speaking at last November’s Paley International Council Summit with Netflix global TV head Bela Bajaria,...

RuPaul Emmy record set! It was no surprise when “RuPaul’s Drag Race” won the Emmy for Best Competition Program on Sunday night, September 19. But it was a landmark moment as this was the 11th total victory for executive producer RuPaul Charles, now making him the single most awarded Black individual in history. Check out the complete list of Emmy winners here.
“Drag Race” won four awards at the Creative Arts Emmys presented last weekend on September 11 and 12. That included the sixth consecutive victory for Charles as Best Reality Host. The series additionally won for its casting, directing, and picture editing, while the spinoff “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked” won its first prize for Best Unstructured Reality Program; since Charles is an executive producer of that series as well, he took home a trophy there too. Combined with the three awards “Drag Race” had previously won for Best Competition Program, that gave...

No Black artists have won more Primetime Emmys than multi-camera cinematographer Donald A. Morgan and reality star RuPaul Charles. As it happens they both have multiple nominations this year. Will they add to their historic awards hauls?
Morgan currently holds the record as the most awarded Black individual at the Emmys with 10 trophies on his mantel, and a whopping seven of those came for his lighting direction for “Home Improvement”. Recently he won three more times for his multi-camera cinematography on Netflix’s “The Ranch” and is the defending champion in his category.

Netflix has canceled four of its original comedy series but will proceed to develop other projects with three of the shows’ stars and creators.
A spokesperson for the streaming giant confirmed Friday that “Mr. Iglesias,” “The Crew,” “Country Comfort” and “Bonding” will not be returning.
Kevin James vehicle “The Crew,” and “Country Comfort,” starring Katherine McPhee and Eddie Cibrian, are both ending after one season. “Bonding,” created and directed by Rightor Doyle, is concluding after two seasons and “Mr. Iglesias,” toplined by Gabriel Iglesias will end with part three.
However, just because Netflix is discontinuing these series, it doesn’t mean they’re parting ways with the talent involved.
The streamer says they’ve closed a development deal with James to develop a single cam comedy series for him to produce and star in. They will also continue business with Iglesias, with the third in a series of stand-up specials slated to shoot this summer.

That would be the easiest job on earth.
“They’re all bad.”
That’d be like being a TV critic exclusively for shows starring Eddie Cibrian.
Sorry. Low blow. But if you watched as many episodes of Country Comfort as I did, you’d understand.
This is my way of saying that I don’t think Elon Musk should have been hosting Saturday Night Live. I think it’s a pretty big and unchecked platform to give a guy who, when given an unchecked platform, is prone to vaccine ...

Katherine McPhee has shared one of her first glimpses at her and David Foster’s two-month old son, Rennie. It appears Netflix's Country Comfort has a new number one fan! Katharine McPhee, who stars in the comedy series, took to Instagram to adorably share that her baby boy Rennie is totally loving her show. In her short (and sweet) video clip, the 37-year-old star carried her little one up near the television so he could see his mom in her element. The scene that appeared onscreen showed Katharine putting her singing skills on full display, to which she and her newborn son danced along to. What's more? Baby Rennie, who Katharine and her husband David Foster welcomed in late February, couldn't keep his eyes off his famous momma. "The Only...

Sherri Shepherd has boarded the ABC comedy pilot “Black Don’t Crack.” She is set to star and produce.
Shepherd will play Angela Wright, a native New Yorker who is somewhere between 45 and death. She’s a single mom who’s put aside her musical dreams to raise her son after her husband dies. She’s been holding it down alone for years, taking care of her family instead of herself. When she is confronted with a personal crisis, she reunites with her sorority sisters to recapture the passion, ambition and sisterhood of their college glory days.
The multi-cam project hails from writer and producer Regina Hicks. Viola Davis and Julius Tennon will executive produce via JuVee Productions, with Larry Wilmore supervising and executive producing via Wilmore Films.
Kelly Park is also set to direct the pilot. Her credits include Netflix’s “Country Comfort,” ABC’s “Call Your Mother” and Fox’s “Call Me Kat.
