Very rarely do I get to watch a documentary that is a total slam-dunk in explaining something that is also actionable for the viewer. So I'm delighted that InstaBAND was a slam-dunk.
Every business owner should watch this documentary. I say that as a professional marketer, content creator, show producer and director.
InstaBAND shows you where the business is online - RIGHT NOW - for independent artists. It explains how the DIY-ers in Nashville and elsewhere are really doing it for themselves, without a record label. It shows you what it takes to break through and gain a following, along the path to success as an independent artist.
Yes, it sucks that nobody makes any money from selling LPs or CDs. But the world changes. We get to see what these guys DO have as an income source, and how their approach - taken as a whole - is succeeding for them.
And this isn't really a spoiler to say this: "These InstaBANDs are creating content CONSTANTLY." They put business owners to shame in comparison, because so many business owners SAY they want more business, but won't do anything to change their circumstances. The business owners certainly aren't creating content like the musical artists. In fact, many business owners who "want" more sales, haven't created any content at all.
They should all be watching InstaBAND to find out the roadmap that's working for one of the most difficult industries to crack - the music biz.
And if you're a musician who's looking to crack the industry - you definitely need to watch this documentary. You'll learn some great tips and strategies that will enable you to succeed faster.
Props to Bob Rose and the others involved in the production of InstaBAND.
