Plot
Laura Dunn, a young drifter, and her father John, a long-term, small-fry criminal, have teamed together to steal from a large company. They intend to take a bottle of secret fracking fluid, planning to expose the effects on the planet by selling the knowledge onto the highest bidder. After stealing the fluid, they walk through miles of moorland, in order to remain concealed from the authorities who are searching for them. Caught in a storm, they are desperate to find somewhere to rest for the night. The pair seek shelter in a seemingly abandoned farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. After a lackluster search, Laura and John settle down for the night, away from the wind and the rain. But in his avarice, John explores alone. Waking to the sound of her father collapsing, Laura goes looking for him, only to be confronted by a mutilated beast residing in the house. With nowhere to hide, Laura must escape the twisted being, or suffer a horrible demise.
Cast
Three folk, none stood out.
Verdict
2 people trudge across the moors, find a house, something is inside, the "Something" isn't very interesting, roll credits.
Whoops did I spoil that for you? No, the writer spoiled it I assure you as he took the day off when he was assigned the script.
It's not abysmal it's just lazy, nothing happens, the characters are unengaging and the finale is as empty as a politicians heart.
Us Brits aren't known for pumping out decent horror shorts, not even us in the North apparently.
Rants
One good thing about shorts is that they're exactly that, short. If it's bad you don't need to wait very long before the credits roll and you're free of it. 11 minutes here, 11 minutes of slow burning build up to a big fat wet fart. In fact, an actual wet fart would have been a better antagonist.
