- Geralt faces off with a demon targeting his nearest and dearest while the most powerful players on the continent ramp up their pursuit of Ciri.
- At Kaer Morhen Ciri awakes in a trance and walks through the castle, she takes a knife and silently kills a few sleeping Witchers. Yennefer and Gerald ride up on horses, he doesn't trust her anymore.
Inside the Grand Hall the Witcher's and Geralt face Ciri, Geralt asks her to break the bonds with Voleth Meir and come to him. Yennefer goes to make a potion with Jasmine, she finds a reddish stone and tells the aboard to give it Geralt, it will help.
Ciri screams and opens a portal. Two basilisk monsters come out and the fight is on with the remaining Witchers. Jaskier enters the hall with the red stone but drops it while diving under a table. Ciri is in a fantasy world, she interacts with Mousesack and her grandmother Queen Calanthe at a fancy ball and even meets her parents, Pavetta and Duny, long dead. Voleth Meir tries to convince Ciri to stay in this ideal virtual reality.
The Witchers manage to kill the two basilisks despite some casualties, Ciri-Voleth brings forth an even larger one. Geralt takes this one on and takes the fight outside, he manages to kill the huge monster and pushes it over a cliff. He returns inside to again ask Ciri to return. He notices the red stone and realizes it is Jasper, a hint that Voleth Meir feeds on fear. Geralt also figures the old witch just needs a body to inhabit. Yennefer arrives with her potion but drops the bottle. She picks up a shard of glass and slashes her wrists, offering herself to Voleth Meir. The characters in Ciri's fantasy implore her to stay but as she wavers they all turn to dust. The sparkles move over to Yennefer. Ciri, now free, immediately opens a portal and Ciri, Yennefer and Geralt are pulled to another place, a desert wilderness on Voleth Meir's home world. A squad of riders on horses race at them from a distance, Voleth Meir leaves Yennefer and goes to the horsemen. Ciri manages to return the three back to Kaer Morhen just in time. Geralt realizes the riders were the feared Wild Hunt.
Francesca and Filavandrel take a group of elves to Redania. She marks the houses where there are newborn human infants and screaming, kills them. There will be more.
In Nilfgaard Cahir and Fringilla discuss the elves. They are not sure who killed Francesca's baby but it suits their purposes to have the elves think Redania was behind it. They will tell the Emhyr that was their plan when he arrives the next day.
In Arteuza the combined Council of mages and royalty discuss Ciri, it is decided they must find her with a Bounty.
Dijkstra tells Philippe, his owl's female human form, to get Jaskier , time for the Bard to pay his debt.
Istredd arrives at the elf camp. He manages to get Francesca to accept that Ciri is the prophecy child of the elf legends.
Reince and his handler Lydia, now scarred by the Ciri mutagen, plan another hunt for Ciri.
Yennefer has regained her powers when she was willing to sacrifice herself. Geralt still doesn't trust her fully but says the two of them must train and protect Ciri, they will travel away from everyone who wants her. Geralt is puzzled how Nilfgaard seemed to know who Ciri was all along.
The Emhyr, Emperor of Nilfgaard, the White Flame, arrives with his large retinue. As he walks in he listens to Cahir and Fringilla then tells them killing the elf baby was his own plan. He has the two jailed, then turns to reveal himself, it is Duny, Ciri's father.
