Great short by the writer of closer!
Holocinema26 May 2008
This short film was in competition at the Cannes films Festival this year(2008). It follows two teenagers that leave class and meet in the record store looking for the next Buzzcocks single. As there is only one copy left they have to listen to it together. Soon enough it becomes into a very funny and honest discovery of sex. Great actors and nicely done, this is definitely one of the coolest portrayals of first time sex I've ever seen on screen, and was well deserving of the Palme D'Or (that eventually went to the short about the kid with divorced parents who wants a robot called "Megatron" - cute, but come on!). I'm now looking forward to other work by the director Sam Taylor Wood! PS: The film is dedicated to Anthony Minghella's memory

Warning: Spoilers
"Love You More" doesn't create anything new; however, it seems to hit us with something already known as if it were completely new, or never thought before. That's the magic of the movies, sometimes. What we have here is a superb example of how music can be powerful, always connecting us with other people who hear it, embrace it, live it, and it becomes an important part of our lives.

We're taken back to a lovely day in 1978, where a boy (Harry Treadaway) and a girl (Andrea Riseborough) are anxious to buy the new Buzzcocks' single 'Love You More'. Only one copy available but the boy is gentleman enough to let the girl have it. Wise choice, cause next thing he knows she invites him to her house so they can listen to it together, which they do and...more! What they share is more than just the love for the music. It's about discovering themselves through their common union which wasn't just the awkward staring and glances at school but maybe love, definitely the sex and the energic, melodic and pleasurable music, everything altogether, hand in hand.

Exalting in some freshness, cute, exciting and well-acted all around "Love You More" is a helluva of piece that everyone can relate in many different ways, fans of the band played in here or not. It speaks volume. Rock on! 10/10

Many big names don't guarantee a big film Warning: Spoilers
"Love You More" is a (very) British 15-minute short film from almost 10 years ago. The writer, director and the two lead actors are all fairly famous right now, so I expected something good, if not great, here. my expectations were disappointed. The main problem I believe is the writing. This is just never an engaging movie. It slowly moves forward, but nothing really interesting happens. i am not talking about spectacular action sequences here, I am talking about character development. I guess you cannot really blame the actors here. They just don't have anything to work with to show us their talent. I definitely do not agree with the BAFTA nomination. This is a very mediocre work and that is still a generous comments. It's absolutely generic and also with the music, it achieves nothing other than being British. Thumbs down.
