- Patty and Tom focus on getting in touch with Carol Tobin to see if they can learn from her what may have happened on that fateful Thanksgiving day when her father Louis confessed to them that his financial empire was a Ponzi scheme. Her brother Joe and family lawyer Leonard Winstone have her tucked away in an apartment and have convinced her not to leave. A visit to her psychiatrist however gives them the opening to contact her. Her information reveals someone is lying. Ellen meanwhile has to deal with a family crisis when she learns that her sister Carrie has been arrested and charged with a serious drug offence. Her boss makes it quite clear that she is to remain clear of the case and avoid any hint of favoritism. In a flash forward two months into the future, Tom Shayes gives Patty his resignation.—garykmcd
- Tom comes in to work (with weird lighting, so we know it's the future) and, without further explanation, hands in his resignation.

She tells her to plead guilty. Her sister accuses Ellen of just doing what's right for her. Ellen tells her she'll talk to someone in social services about her kid, Charlotte.

Marilyn has coffee with her dead husband's love child, Tessa Marchetti. She tells Tessa how glad she is they've gotten to know each other. Tessa has guilt pangs and tells Marilyn that Patty contacted her and asked about Thanksgiving. She says her mom made her promise never to talk about it. Lenny was always kind to them and Thanksgiving was the last time they ever saw him. Marilyn assures her she did the right thing.
Lenny takes Carol to the shrink, reminding her not to talk about Danielle. Frobisher welcomes Terry and his producing partner to his enormous expensive apartment. She raves to Frobisher about his book, pointedly calling it "Windy" as in wind, not winding. They want to tell a story about a good man who got caught up and Patty Hewes is the real villain "pure Machiavellian evil." Frobisher, who is eating their pitch up, offers to set them up with Patty.
Carol looks like hell as she talks to her shrink, he thinks it's because of her dad. He asks if there's anything she wants to talk about. She just wants a prescription. He says she has to talk about what's bothering her. He prods gently and she looks like she might cave. But she says there's nothing else. He gives her a prescription.
Tom tells Patty that Carol saw Dr. Maurice Samuels, Lenny took her there and back. Patty's not worried about patient confidentiality.
Malcolm sneaks into the dr's office late at night wearing gloves and using a flashlight to snap photos of patient files.
Patty comes home late at night to find her son at her dining room table. He opens by telling her he's going to be a dad. He says he lied to her about having an office job and Jill is the mother. He says he wasn't in the mood for her judgment. She asks if he's sure he's the father.

Another day, Frobisher brings Terry and his producer to Patty's office. He assures her he doesn't see himself as the hero of the story and wants her character to be three-dimensional. Frobisher tells Patty he's actually grateful to her. The producer sees his story as one of redemption. Patty coolly tells them there hasn't been any redemption for the thousands of workers whose lives Arthur ruined. Or for his lawyer Ray Fiske, who killed himself over the trial. Arthur doesn't blink, saying that'll be part of the story.
They ask her take on Arthur. "Foolish, vain, pathetically insecure. The Arthur Frobisher I know is a despicable bully. He stole from his employees then he manipulated the system to escape prison with a slap on the wrist," she says.
He seethes. The actor and producer eat it up. "Do what you want," she says, "I don't much like movies anyway."
Lenny drops Carol off at her doctor's, where she finds Patty waiting inside with Malcolm. Patty opens up by accusing Carol of killing Danielle and threatening to talk to the DA.
Carol struggles to keep it together. Patty asks her what happened on Thanksgiving.
Cut to Ellen at Patty's, noting she has a hole in her wall. Ellen takes a deep breath and tells Patty she needs a favor.
Lenny visits Carol, who seems better. She tells him the doctor said she should talk about things, but obviously she can't tell the truth. He suggests she talk to him.
She leans back and asks why they went to Danielle's on Thanksgiving. He says Louis asked her to pick up his stuff there, his boots and cell phone (that we know Lenny later put in a Dumpster where the homeless guy, and then Tom, found them). Carol asks about a girl she saw through the window.
In flashback we see it was Tessa handing him the bag, but he tells her he'd never met her before and she was Danielle's housekeeper.
Back at Arthur's he and the Hollywood folk revel in Patty the villain. Arthur's over any idea of fairness.
Patty talks to Carol back at the shrink's. She tells them about driving to Danielle's with Lenny, where he picked up some stuff. Carol describes Tessa. Tom shows her a picture of Tessa, who Patty says was Danielle's housekeeper. Carol's relieved Lenny was telling her the truth.
After Carol leaves, Patty and Tom are hungry to know why Tessa lied about not spending Thanksgiving with her mother.
