After his tour in Afghanistan on the NATO 'peacemaking force,' German staff corporal David gets a warm welcome in his rural home from his (step)family and his live-in girlfriend. But secret bedwetting is just the first symptom of a dark, deep trauma. Even when stepdad Rainer throws a party in honor of David's silver valor medal, the hero reacts bitterly, as it's part of a cover-up, while resisting mandatory psychotherapy. Meanwhile, he alternates between acting as protective big brother and substitute father to his doting 8-year-old kid brother Benni and dragging him along on a dark sequence nightmares and mortification.
